The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

We have 14 blueberry bushes. Fresh ones June thru early August are the best!!

We grow veggies too, but other than potatoes and occasionally beets, they don’t last very long. We give a good amount away at work and to neighbors.
When I lived in PA we would have Amish kids come around selling everthing from eggs to stuff they had made. Sometimes they would be on a pony cart and pull up into the drive way. One time I got free fertilizer! There were times I would scrape it up off the road. 🤣

Here an hour early for the 3AM Club. Joy . . . ! Reckon I'll make some coffee then. TDK hasn't squawked for food - yet. Then again. I haven't been into the kitchen yet to make coffee. That will likely set her off.

Looks like the high for the day was at its very beginning. Freezing by tomorrow morning.
The same here. It’s winter like weather for a few days. Some slippery spots this morning.

I caught up. So good morning denizens of the greasy spoon. It’s a cold start, 29F with wind chill at 19F. So coffee is a must and the soup has set over night to let all the flavors mingle. Today it’s soup day!

A thought: how many “what if” thoughts ever helped us live the day and future better?

We touch it. We don't stay there. Yet. That will be a long soon enough. We have had the good fortune of warmer early winters. I remember one year it was 83*F one day in mid-January. By VD, it had chilled and it snowed heavily four or five times between then and the end of March.

Yes, it seems to be.

They do grow veggies down here but I have no skill or luck here. The only thing I have grow sucessfully are pineapples, key limes and myer lemons. I am in Zone 10A and it is planting season!
Wow - we were just cleaning our garden up over the weekend.

I am totally redoing it for next year. Gonna take out the old beds, amend the soil, put down new landscape paper and start over. So many weeds the last few years and I don’t like putting down pre-emergent.

Nor do I like weeding!

One person fertilizer is another persons horse or cow shit!

Btw - cow shit is better fertilizer!

I do get a bit of satisfaction after I am done but would rather watch someone else. As a kid I was hired out to aunts and uncles to do it. I would spend summers at my one uncles farm. That was some serious weeding in the tobacco field.
Wait your talking about the weeding or masturbating.

I’m so confused! This thread moves too fast!

I have stood there in the door of the barn on a cold-n-snowy morning, watched the horses take dumps, and seen the little birds come from almost nowhere to fly over and start to pick the seeds out and eat them. And I have watched the barn cat sit quietly and watch them and plan her rush to catch one.

All the contrasted colors on the white background stood out fabulously, too.

I have no scientific proof or firsthand evidence, but apparently cow shit has a lot less seeds

Gonna put together some 15 bean soup here in a bit and allow that to simmer. It gets doctored a bit, of course. I know, quelle surprise.
Some beans require a hard boil to break down toxins. I know dried kidney beans need 5 minutes rolling boil to be safe. Canned ones have already had that process done.

That's a step some people miss making chilli in a slow cooking process with dried beans.
