I just joined Tryptöphän…Turkey Day is coming...
I've never had that good a shot of using that punYes! Haven’t we been thru this already??
It’s like Deja vu all over again!![]()
I have a sister and mates that are habitually late, I tell them to be at a place 2-3 hours earlier so they get there nearly on timeWell she is almost here apparently she followed farm equipment almost all the way here.... she left her house the time she was supposed to be here
Its nice but they sure don’t miss you when you have to pay for itEver had dubai chocolate.... yummy
Awesome!Fifteen bean and veggie soup.
Peppers, broccoli, celery, carrots, turnip, potato, zucchini, yellow squash and cauliflower.
Yes, that is a Mack Truck bulldog behind the stove.
I do that to my better half. It frustrates her. She gets mad if she shows up on time and I put her to work.I have a sister and mates that are habitually late, I tell them to be at a place 2-3 hours earlier so they get there nearly on time
Just checking for accuracyYes! Haven’t we been thru this already??

I deliberately bought a house without a softener.... and here we goThat’s my job at our house…
Check out the 12 pains of Christmas on You Tube.
Thanks for that! I don't know which was funnier the Christmas song or the You Tube trash on how to clear out stuck poops!
Glad you were able to get a bit more sleep. That's way too early!236 club
Ranked above a weather reaport TBHWe know how much you need a TDK report.
Night owls get the short end of the stick here, don't they? From a health perspective, early mornings are more productive than late nights.
This underlines the importance of a good list *nods*Now that I said my list, that doesn’t sound very much like a lazy day
Life is simpler when you cede control to the Feline Overlords*That’s how we operate here. Actually, I slept in slightly. Or rather, the cats did. It’s nice when they allow the human small concessions.
Soup is always good IMOThe soup sounds good! We are supposed to have great weather for a few weeks down here in Fl gulf coast.
Planning my day
Lovely way to start the dayWe just ticked our first item off the list!
I could do them or podcasts on the bus/train, but not driving.I can relate to the hour drive home and was so happy when I discovered books on tape.
I will take a fan outside and point it toward the north.

Nice! Love finding a new placeWe did finally try the Cajun restaurant that we've been wanting to and it was really, really good... I can easily see that being a guilty pleasure that we do after every hitch.
So's @Wonderer67 ! When do you play next?So, I’m in Turkey mode

Never know what you'll find in those old cookbooks... I cringe at may of the old gelatin recipes, but they were all the rage at the time. She also has either an old church cookbook or something that has Turtle Soup in it.
Always wanted to try the Orange and Chocolate but missed my window. Citrus flares my joints now.For years momma would put one of those dark chocolate and orange things in my stocking…I don’t like that mix either! After about ten years I told her to save her money…just get me pistachio’s!
That was my first thought - and friends have cautioned to get the good stuff. (i.e. try to get the original, which is quite spendy)Ever had dubai chocolate.... yummy

Back from the store. Don’t know what possessed me, but I bought a ham. It’s a little one, a piece of a ham, but it is made out of pig. We don’t do turkey here.
I probably live with 75-80% of pork as a main dish, but that is because of the meat market I use, having some of the very best I've ever laid hands on!
Relying on the web here... I've never cared for any type of pork.Lately I can't find the Berkshire pig. I always thought it was a specific blood line. At whole Foods sometimes you can find pork and it has a name that starts with D. Duroc? I don't get the bacon flavor I could with the fat on the other blood line. One year I did a Berkshire standing rib roast like a crown for mom on Thanksgiving. The next year I did it during Christmas with Duroc and the whole meal was grandizing the memory that I made pork that tasted like bacon. Now I started seeing one with a name Nem_soemthing. Sign on the counter bragging about the bloodline.

Decades ago, I went on a beef kick, eating 3 to 4, 20 to 26 Oz sirloins a day.
Having built and operated commercial hog farms, I can "smell/detect" commercially raised pork upon ENTERING a Kroger, or any other store... Miller's meat market has ZERO of that... even the fat is delectable!
My dad was raised @ 2 miles from the ocean. We kids were born/raised in the Midwest. He taught us very early - if your plate smells like fish - send it back and order something else. That’s interesting. I had no clue.
All that to say…I allow for some leeway…guess I have a soft spot for those memories.
As someone who ends up spending most holidays alone... celebrate however it makes you happyOK… my rant is over!!
Is that as delightful as it sounds?Got our first cold spell forecast with freezing nights. Should mean lovely cold days on the hill
Enjoy it if you can...It's windy, but warm again.
I wish it would make up its mind.
Sun and warm should not make me complain.
I did.... am at my parents now working up the urge to carry 80 lbs of salt to the softener
Pretty sure a biy job
Mine, too. I have an old backpack I use. 40 pounds is my max. My SUV is just high enough to get the bag into the backpack. I think sit on the tailgate and put on the backpack. I'm still strong enough to stand up - leaning forward - and walk it upstairs to the utility room. Then I back up to my dryer and set the backpack on top of it. The "easy tear" corner on the salt bag makes it easy to open... then I just tip it into the open water softener until enough spills out that I can lift the bag. That’s my job at our house…
I trust you on the 15 bean count - but think you may be short on the veggie sideFifteen bean and veggie soup.
TruthGranny was right all along! The health benefits of good sleep are phenomenal.

It's working - down to 30F tonight
Nice! Love finding a new place
Even with all my food sensitivities I'm always up for trying a new (to me) restaurant because you just never know.
So's @Wonderer67 ! When do you play next?

Still on the list is to try Dark Chocolate and Chili... think I may pick up a bar this year and give it a go.

"Can't Get Knafeh of It" is a popular, viral chocolate bar from the Dubai-based Fix Dessert Chocolatier, inspired by the Middle Eastern dessert knafeh. It features a filling of pistachio and tahini paste, wrapped in creamy milk chocolate. The bar gained significant attention, particularly after a widely viewed video by a TikTok user, and is now shipped worldwide.

There's a meat shop near my house that several friends/relatives like... I set foot inside once... and promptly walked out again. Never ate their products ever again. The smell in that shop!

Not sure how long that will last... or who I will be able to ask or pay to do that task for me down the line. But we'll worry about that when it happens.

My backyard from 2nd story... and you cant tell but still snowing.... the winter wheat out back is getting winterized
Rice does much the same.PSA to all cooks
When storing leftover soup containing barley, strain the broth and store separately.
Otherwise the barley will bloat while sucking up all or most of the broth leaving a gluten-laden slimy mess behind.Yuck!
Thankfully I didn't have much leftover last night. Small batch soup.
I have another small batch starting as I type.
Mmm, soup!
