The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Long weekend during which I have picked up a stomach bug doing the rounds. I won’t give TMI but needless to say I have gone through a lot of Tissue.

It was Remembrance Sunday so two services to manage. The weather was horrendous in the morning but we got through it. The sunset service was moving as ever as our lone piper played at our beacon. Unfortunately, can’t upload a video here due to size.

We had a wonderful sunset tonight to lift my spirits.
Stunning sunset, G! 😍 I love the fire in the beacon. I imagine the service was very touching! 🥰

I hope you're feeling better by now! 🫂🫂

If I’m not mistaken I think they may have one? I’m with you though…they deserve a special place of honor. If you ever remember the 80’s show China Beach, they did a special with the real life nurses they drew their stories from. It’s well worth a look if it’s floating around out there…

In honor of our resident nurses in The Spoon, they’ll be heavily represented over the course of the day!
Nurse's Day is May 6 in the US. There is also an International Nurse's Day on May 12.

🫂 It's no fun being cold all the time.

One of my siblings has trouble with body temp regulation. In their case, they have thyroid issues and struggle to keep their lab numbers at the right levels. My thyroid numbers are fine and yet...

I went through a phase several years ago where I could not regulate my body temp. I was freezing 🥶
I would wear cuddleduds long underwear, thermal underwear, a turtleneck, jeans, two pair of socks, and a hoodie and was still cold. This was inside an office kept at 72-74F in the winter.
The game changer for me was adding a midweight scarf. I was able to drop both sets of long underwear from the equation. 🧣
Try adding a hat. Lots of heat escapes from our heads!

We missed yaz of course!

It ain’t the same her without ya. But figured you were busy.

Sorry to hear your stubborn… whatever it is has… ain’t leaving.

Be 100% soon!! ❤️
Thank you! 😘 I'm (finally!) better now! I've been busy, tho. My village is up. It took me a bit longer because there were some maintenance and repair issues.

I've been trying to catch up. Probably won't be tonight, but will this week! 💖✨💝

Make up your minds already 😩 :ROFLMAO:

Haha! I have this Mets baseball card! For some reason my cousin gave it to me last time I was in Arizona.

I think we both commented how yogi was 30 when that pic was taken but he looked 45. He actually lived in Jersey and has a great museum in Montclair.

Granny was right all along! The health benefits of good sleep are phenomenal. When we were younger we didn't realise how much damage we were doing to our bodies (and minds).
Now, with the wisdom of advanced years, we are able to enjoy a more balanced approach to life which hopefully keeps us fit and healthy.
You got that right. I know too many seniors unable to get more that 4-5 hours of sleep.

I’m with you. At one point in this country, that’s how it was done. Just watch a bunch of those 40’s-50’s movies. They were decorating the tree on Christmas Eve. It’s a Wonderful Life, Christmas in Connecticut, The Bishop’s Wife…all trimming the tree on Christmas Eve.

Now…Momma had my father and myself hauling stuff out of the shed to decorate as soon as the last of the Turkey sandwiches were being polished off the day after Thanksgiving.

All that to say…I allow for some leeway…guess I have a soft spot for those memories.
My late wife always had a tree up right after Thanksgiving. It was her holiday! I indulged. Now I am lucky to get one up a weekend before. But this year is different. My granddaughter wants a tree to decorate. So I will have mine up early for her.

My sister came over yesterday afternoon so we can deal with some legal and financial stuff regarding my mom today.

Me Mrs wonderer and my sister got hilariously drunk while I made soup. My sisters were responsible for my musical upbringing so we listened to some classic albums that she liked that helped shape my musical tastes. We also danced like idiots!!!

Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones
London Calling by The Clash
Los Angeles by X (who we saw in September)
Inflammable material by Stiff Little Fingers.

Then we listened to some random 45s (old Blues, British Invasion, British Nod revival and 70s funk)

It got me over 23k steps!
