The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

... used some caulk to fill in gaps... not a fan of the black...
One misspelling and this would have meant something completely different...
(OK, OK. The 12yr old in me is snickering now...)

Another cold one this morning. 21F, not as cold as yesterday. But still a hard frost out there. The garage roof didn't melt until well after noon, even with full sun.

Feeling a little better. Managed a few minutes on the last big project of the fall. Not a lot done, but enough to say there was progress.

Hope everyone gets fully caffeinated this morning!

Morning, spoonies
Hope you all have a good day
Brief catch up before diving back into work
It's a Christmas village! Huge! And pretty elaborate.
That sooo gives me flashbacks to Lynne Marie's Xmas village. ...she might have Xmas Suburbs by now.
OMG! Momma would be JEALOUS! That is beautiful! She would do the same sort of thing on the top of her piano, and a nook here and there.
Impressive @Lilianna23 !!
My mom did a village for many years as well. She would have loved to have seen yours!!
Things have a way of becoming apparent, especially when we're not looking straight at them.
Truth 💣
Wow… what a magical night… so many people I have known for 15 years and who have helped shape my career and been good work colleagues or friends.
🫂 I love this! So glad you had such a marvelous time!

My work is good at the "cake and punch" retirement party, but anniversaries are typically a mention at a meeting. Once a year there's a Years of Service event for milestone anniversaries. If you're on the list, you get to pick from a list of "gifts" in your anniversary grouping.
TBH - I'd rather just have a happy hour like yours than another piece of merch w/ the company logo embossed on it.
Looks super good, L2!!
🤤 OMG, so delicious!!
Being Present was different.
✨ Quote of the Day ✨
They’ve cleared her to cement that broken bone and he suggested going ahead and cementing the T10 to support the 11 & 12 which were both broken. Bad news is her spine will be curved so she’ll never be totally upright again.
Aren't we all a blittle bent? 😏
Win Column for the cementing... and good of them to realize where additional support is needed. 🫂
OK, OK. The 12yr old in me is snickering now
There's a lot of that going around
But who cares? Laughter is good medicine

Back to the grind for me

Yes. Soul-less feel.

I am honored to have been to some of the older venues: Molineux, Upton Park and Griffin Park.
Villa Park still has the stylish Victorian brickwork at the back of the refurbed main stand and an incredible atmosphere inside. All four stands are different, which creates a vastly different feel to the modern, lookalike bowls.

Ditto - except I stopped for sashimi* sushi and seaweed salad. Added a Granny Smith and 🤤 😋

ETA: Clarification - what I have on the plate is sashimi. Sushi would be a roll with rice and seaweed holding the sashimi and/or veg inside.
Hope you enjoyed the Granny Smith.
I had a conversation with my friends on the checkout tills at my local supermarket about all the pesticides they use on the apples that are grown in Kent. Cox's Orange Pippins are my favourite apple.
One of the checkout girls complained about fruit being sprayed and said:
"Cox don't taste like they used to!"

I agree HDH… these things are too much for me. They hit hard.

I’ve always wanted to go to the imperial war museum but was not prepared for it.

The ww1 exhibit was amazing but just too emotional.

The Vietnam memorial in dc is good. But also heavy duty…

So many lives gone… and for what?
You are right … my grandfather told me only a little about Ypres in WW1.Then as a child we were brought up on the story of the Accrington Pals…. I may have mentioned it before but when you read the story it haunts you and is worth googling.

I have visited the major Normandy cemeteries, U.K., US, and German in Normandy, the underground hospital in Jersey, and some of the trench lines at Ypres. It haunts and never leaves you. It’s why I do what do on Remembrance Sunday

I only personally know of one name on the wall. The father of the gal that introduced my wife and I. If you remember that movie We Were Soldiers, it’s about the battle he was killed in. I’d like to see the wall one day.

Morning all. Off to get vehicles inspected. Get the tribe ready to head to TX and do some work around Mommas house. Took her to Doc yesterday. They’ve cleared her to cement that broken bone and he suggested going ahead and cementing the T10 to support the 11 & 12 which were both broken. Bad news is her spine will be curved so she’ll never be totally upright again. We joked she went from 5’8” to 6” in one fell swoop!🤣

HEY…you know what day it is?

Yer MZ——

Ia Drang. Yeah . . . .

Dr. Tyler is making little-to-no headway, but Wat made some considerable progress in getting some further information together so's we can make Informed Decisions, thanks be to Allah. Maybe some questions weren't asked properly last week. Attention was gotten today, that's ferdamnsure.

That is the problem.

I used to be a ticket holder for Red Bull NY and it was a great deal. I think it averaged to something like $11 per game per seat back then in 2012 ish.

Many fun memories of those seasons in the early teens. My daughter and I still go every few years, but it is not as cheap now.
I wonder what they charge to watch Messi in Miami?

What if I only want to buy a single match ticket?
Due to high demand and limited availability, the only way to purchase single game tickets is through an Inter Miami CF season ticket membership.

But wait - it gets better. Clearly it's a seller's market...**

Deposits are required when attempting to purchase season tickets. Deposits are final and non-refundable. If you do end up purchasing season tickets, the deposit gets applied toward the season ticket payment. If not, you are SOL... non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be applied toward single-game or group tickets either.

Season Tickets - max of 8 seats total... one deposit per seat.
$25 for Supporter Stand, $50 per Reserved Seat, $150 per Club level Seat, $4,000 per Suite

2026 tickets start at $40 per match. Final price will depend on the # of games played in the season.

Oh - and the 2026 Season Ticket sale kicked off for the general public in September 2025... with deposits for priority access starting in late 2024.

It's playoff season now, so if you don't already have your tickets... resale sites like Ticketmaster may offer some spendy options

**But what do I know? Maybe all season tickets for major league sports run this way... I don't have that kind of discretionary income. Most sports have priced me out of the single ticket market too... especially once you factor in transportation or parking and any food/drink options. 🤷‍♀️

Well done for doing the digging. Yes, factor in the cost of transport and parking, plus food on top, and a day at the socer suddenly seems a little pricey.
Please report back when you see the World Cup ticket prices for next year!!!

There's been a murder...

It began so innocently with a quick dinner prep. A simple sandwhich with a side of fruit. What could go wrong?

I reached into the bag of delicious green grapes, lifted out a bunch to be washed and
THE TREATY HAS BEEN BROKEN!!!!!

We've covered this before... the Arachnid-Condo Treaty.

It is absolutely unacceptable for there to be any spider - let alone such a large, black spider - to be anywhere in my home. Even worse? In my food! Within arm's reach of my person!

So. As I mentioned before... there has been... a murder.

Glad some progress on that front.
