They are touring Northern Ireland and then take the boat to Scotland, I think in your neck of the woods.. (stranraer - very Viking sounding). Anyway, they’re stuck in this town having a drink at the local.

All of these Celtics supporters come streaming in and they’re talking and all having a laugh. Then he describes that about a half hour later, a bunch of Glasgow Rangers fans come in.

“The mood immediately changed. A dead stillness fell upon the bar, and the physical division of the opposing groups was quite apparent.

It was as a by design, but the sound of breaking glass and then yelling and fighting… it was like a scene out of an old West bar brawl only much worse.”

They got out and escaped.

“ I went in there the following night, because I couldn’t believe what it happened. I struck up a conversation with the bartender and the place was as clean and as shining as before the fight.”

“ I asked her about last night. ‘Ah, that’s just them, having a Saturday night rammie.’”

Sounds like total chaos!!

Yes Scotland is still very tribal. If it’s not the clans battling its religions or football supports. The only thing they all have in common is a hatred of us English. It’s about the only thing that united Scots… The Auld Enemy lol

Morning all. Countdown to the F1 race. It’s shaping up to be a wild ending to the championship. Spent all day with Momma, decorating, she made a pot of black eyed peas with the ham bone from Thanksgiving, and we watched not one but two Christmas movies. Just she and I. No kids or interruptions.

Went out and procured some oysters for oyster stew either today or tomorrow. Had an uncle with a place down on the sound. We’d go get oysters the day after thanksgiving and have a big oyster roast the Saturday after. Sometimes he’d do it New Year’s Eve or day and on good years he’d do both! Kind of a tradition…sadly all my offspring take after their Mother and don’t care for oysters. I leave all my hope with my granddaughter!

Now I leave it to the pro’s and just drop by their shop and grab a few pints.

Have a wonderful Sunday and wrap up to the Thanksgiving weekend! The Fireside MZ——

I've had a busy few days! Baking for Thanksgiving and getting outside lights up. My friend came earlier this week and we did the lights that required ladders. Today, I finished outside. Here's a pic of some:

Then, I came in and started on the tree. I managed to get the tree up, the tracks for the train around the tree, and the new light-up angel on top. There may have been a bit of grumbling and/or swearing as I was doing all this! 🤭🤭

I also got my wreaths up and unpacked one box of decorations. Just eleventy billion more boxes to go! 🙄😬

Been a good weekend …. Had a dinner last night with all those who work on the estate. I decided it was time to go when the karaoke came on. I don’t mind singing but not that crap. A night on non alcoholic Guinness doesn’t loosen either vocal cords or inhibitions.

This morning I was putting in fence posts with pals. Sod’s Law there is concrete where the central post has to go. Need to return with a breaker.

Tonight it’s a Trams meeting with a friend in Saudi. She wants to chat through a job offer she has received. It’s great to stay in touch as she was one of my trainees when I did the day job.

Oyster stew was my moms xmas eve tradition...she lives it. I will drink the broth but i cant eat oyster.... it is a texture thing.
 
So it’s Mrs wonderers and I anniversary.

Were going to the city of brotherly love to see a good band.. The Effigies (also a great name for band).

We’re meeting a good friend from Pittsburgh whose idea it was to see said band since he grew up w some of the guys in the effigies from the Chicago scene.

I also happen to be working in Philly Monday thru Wednesday so I will stay behind, Mrs wonderer will go home and then pick me up from the Trenton train station on Wednesday.

Should be a fun evening out and an interesting next week.
