That sounds great, i have never had it.

The Scots call it a Dundee Cake. It’s a better recipe because you avoid the typical gummy like citrus junk they pawn off in commercial fruit cakes.

Oyster stew was my moms xmas eve tradition...she lives it. I will drink the broth but i cant eat oyster.... it is a texture thing.

We had Oyster Pie. Basically a stew in a pie crust.

I miss the fire place and watching the snow fall. You can dress warm for the cold but you can only take so much off.

I remember when I stumbled across merino wook socks! I stiil have them tucked away. Will probably head back to PA for Christmas. I gave away the Sorel boots.

This cold wintry weather is also messing with many states including the southern states. We just get the cold. It’s the winds that get to me more than just the cold.

I often wonder how people lived down here before AC and with no ice. When the water temp in the Gulf gets up in the 90s and the dew point is in the 70s. Not to mention the bugs!

i understand that. My dad would complain about the wind when he was in his 90s and I would think what wind? I am not sure I still have my ski mask!

No Ma'am I don't, as I've never really taken enough pills to warrant one.
When I had the flu from hell, on the boat, I overdid it bye stacking way to many OTCc that all contain NSAIDs...
It was bad... one of the top 3 worst flus of my life and I still had to stand 12 hr watches and hard labor.
I was talking to people who weren't there. Lol

I had pneumonia the flu all at the same time.... i tried to go work a shift in the er.... i was sick....noone noticed

I also went in to svt during a code. My coworkers didnt notice. The guy i was hanging a nitro gtt on said i didnt look so good.... i finished my shift after i did the vagal removal and slowed my heart rate down

I baked fruit cake number 2. A 1/2 cup each of pecans, walnuts, dried cherries, apricots and dates. The batter just holds all the good stuff together. The small amount of Scotch just helps the flavor and orange juice marinade will keep it moist! Recipe ?

I think my blood sugar rose by 20% just thinking about it

I might visit in the winter, but not after April for the reasons you mention. Enjoy your weather now then go to visit relatives north in the summer.

Brandy, rum, Scotch? I remember the story where my sister would marinate with rum and did it daily! When my uncle tasted it, he told my aunt: “ The kids can’t have this as they are under age and please keep it away from an open flame”.
