The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I would do a whole family if someone comes and saves me from driving in the snow and cleans off my car, shivels snow so my parents dont fall and pretty much anything to do with snow..... my ability to deal with this level of stress about everything with the snow on top is a lot...

But there is noone to save me so i will have to toughen up and deal
I know it doesn't help with the driving, shoveling, etc... but I'm sending you my love anyway. 💕

I am so scared to drive in it but i have to be tough and do it.....
What I did back when I lived in Pa was I would practice driving in a parking lot. I would stop and go and get a feel for the traction. I would practice slides. Nothing to violent but enough to refresh my snow driving skills. It will help relieve some of the anxiety.

Have i mentioned my loathability and utter hate-ness of snow
My dear, you would appear to be one of the least loathable people I have ever encountered. And I am one of the world's most recognised experts on being loathed!!!
But I do know what you mean. As the great Edwin Starr once sang "Snow, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing." Or something like that, anyway. ;)

K, you got this girl!

You’re a tough broad. And i mean that in the finest of ways.

Just be careful driving. Maintain speed, not too much acceleration or braking if you can help it.

Sending love and hugs. 🫂 ❤️
Thx
I made it to my parents and shoveled the walk
Only to realize dont have to be there til 1045
On the way had to turn around because people sliding of the road. I have awd and she did pretty good.

The problem is to get a car in a cargo container is that it needs to be pushed to one side. When that side is near a wall, you can't get at those to fill them.
With flat tires they don't roll well, so a tractor and a tow strap can be needed to get them out. Not that a tractor and tow strap aren't available, but it's a pain...

Of course, the car does live in a place protected from the elements. So fair trade. But a bigger garage is ALWAYS the better option! :ROFLMAO:

None other is even civilized.
I say Ol’ Boy…we must remained civilized! Especially in these trying times!

Baring a weasel here or there…

The tribe made it in from out west, albeit a day late due to delays. Granddaughter was cranky but after a nap started decorating the tree. Momma behaved for once. SWMBO made a pot roast and honestly it felt like Thanksgiving come late.

Dreary day so good day to knock out some laundry. Everyone have a great day!

quick catch up before a late afternoon nap

Did everyone hear that in Roy Scheider's voice? Or just me? :ROFLMAO: 🦈

I come from a seafood loving family. Dad was raised less than 2 miles from the Atlantic. Everyone... except me. Meh - leaves more for them.

Are you still using the same Dundee Cake recipe you shared in a previous post?

I had wanted a pair of Sorel boots for years and years. In my 20s I stumbled across a fantastic deal and bought a pair. They were SO warm, and cozy, and snug... too much so. Being that they were mid-calf boots, something about how they held my foot and ankle so snug messed with how my ligaments pulled on my knees.
Christmas came early that year - for my baby sister. I didn't even get to wear them outside once. 🤷‍♀️ She loved them!

I've had the same said about my Rum Balls.
Haven't made them in years. None of my family likes rum and most of my friends don't drink. I did make Boubon Balls for a brother and SIL several years ago... sent them with brownies for the kids (triple fudge but no booze or "funny" brownies). Was given a "Cease and Desist" order on sending baked goods and sundries their way. Something about gaining 5 pounds with every box opened? Ah well...

Would this handy-dandy gizmo help any?

I always thought steaming was "original", but have seen some "quick pudding" recipes over the years. Those use a microwave to hurry things along. Here's a few to give you an idea, plus Mary Berry's own recipe - which, of course, she steams. Would you really expect anything else from her? ;) (GBBO IYKYK)

 Previous to now and currently, I live in areas named by Native Americans and "discovered" by French Explorers and others. So, lots of French and Native place names.
Last place - they were pretty good about pronunciations.
Not this place
Case in point: Lake Gervais
Oh - like the comedian, Ricky Gervais, you may think. According to Wikipedia, Ricky's father was "a Franco-Ontarian of French Canadian and Iroquois descent who grew up on a farm in Pain Court, Ontario near Chatham, Ontario."
So... how do the locals pronounce this Lake? It's named after Benjamin Gervais, a French/Canadian settler who claimed the land back in 1844.
That's right... it's Lake JAR-viss :cautious:
Don't get me started - I have a list!

Look into how much nutmeg is too much. I skimmed the article and they made a mention but not sure they went into detail. Otherwise - let me know how it turns out. I'm a sucker for ginger!

Yes! Naptime!! Then in my case and unpacking as I've just got home from a weekend of cat sitting and show shoveling. Good to be home, but I do miss my Snuggle Buddy 🐈‍⬛
You had me at “Nigella”…

She’s my TeeVee Crush.

I’d never heard Nutmeg is toxic and that article said they scaled back from the original 1553 recipe. I like it because my granddaughter has dairy allergies and the original has no dairy. May try this this weekend.

I told my dad i would make him a custard pie
We decided this year was going to be a low key Christmas. We’ve been saying this for years, but this year we’re actually trying. I’m going to just make food. Spend time with relatives and slow down and enjoy.

I’m gonna do it…

Maybe spoil the grandbaby just a wee bit though? 🫠

Morning, Afternoon, and Evening everyone! Trouble has returned and her whole schedule is off obviously.
I hope everyone has been well but I know with this time of year and how life effects people that may not be the case.
I've missed being on and everyone of you. I'm hoping my travels may be by car to work and maybe to the store.
I'll be on as much as I can to reconnect with everyone. I had trouble sleeping in this pointy hat. And I'm now the queen of a small enclave of Mommastan. Please don't ask how that happened.
I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season for whatever you celebrate, or don't celebrate.
Can't sleep so I'm off for 10..🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️
Yes…I mean…MAJESTY!

May your reign be long! ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!

The funny thing is, the day before she showed me how she was going to glue this contraption together. For a fleeting second it crossed my mind she’d attempt to do it herself. Then i was like…naaaaah…

Well…

She survived. I forgave. Let’s get on with Christmas cheer!
Haha...dont underestimate the wiley-ness of your average 80 yr old

Ice is the worst. Unless you have chains there is nothing you can do.
I will not drive on ice. Once in January, I was driving to work and saw luckily black ice. I slip my stick drive car out of gear and coasted until I got to traction. Unfortunately the SUV came up behind in the next lane very fast. The SUV hit the ice and started sliding sideways. As soon as it hit dry pavement it rolled. I pulled over and called the police.

The whole thing made me wary of black ice. I will not drive on it.
