The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Morning OM & Wat! I joined the ranks of the 3-4am club today. The day I didn’t have to get up early…I’m up. May have something to do with lights out at 920ish last night?

Travel day, then back to the Ol’ Homestead where there is a never ending job list. One more trip to the roof. I’ve decided that caulk alone may not hold the new Bushy Tailed Rodent deterrent in place during hurricane force winds. A galvanized screw through the flashing and tube should hold it.

Everyone have a great day!

Today was a busy day but the running around kind. First up was the dentist. They got a big bag of goodies. I was practically pounced when I walked in the door! 😅😅 Good exam and got a clean bill of dental health.

Then I headed over to my attorney's office to sign the will she prepared for me... A YEAR AGO! 🙄 IDK why I was putting it off but it's done now. She's a lovely, patient lady; I'm so glad my friend referred her.

My last stop was at the home of the glass artist. I asked her to make some glass hearts with my husband's ashes. She did a gorgeous job. Her fiance is making stands for them. I had one made with a smaller heart (in pink, no ashes) signifying me. Those two will go into a double stand. I also had one made for my SIL; it will be in a single stand.

Tonight I picked up some other items she made for me, some gifts a friend commissioned for me, and finished paying for everything. She made sample hearts which I also purchased. I'll take pictures when I get everything.

Tomorrow is back to the gym day! 😬😬 Pray for me! 🙏😅🏋‍♀️💪
A very productive day. Also it is very understandable that it took a year to
revise the will. I took my time to resolve the trusts. I still have not finalized my “5 wishes” which supplements wills and trusts after 3 years.

Making jewelry from his ashes is a wonderful tribute to your husband.

Cant wait to see!!

The first time I saw a recipe for them, I thought it was a weird paring. After I tried it, I was hooked! They're seriously yummy! 😋 😋
I think there was a “study“ that sort of proved that Sweet and salty taste is the most desirable and the hardest to stop eating. I had to Google it for more info cuz I couldn’t remember why…

Studies show sweet and salty tastes are irresistible due to
evolutionary programming for quick energy, triggering powerful brain reward systems, and salt actually enhances sweet detection while masking bitterness, creating hyper-palatable combinations like chocolate-covered pretzels or salted caramel that are hard to stop eating, especially when stressed or hungry. Research highlights that children, in particular, show heightened preferences for these tastes, making them vulnerable to modern diets.
Why Sweet & Salty Hits So Hard
  • Evolutionary Drive: Our bodies are hardwired to crave calorie-rich (sweet) and sodium-rich (salty) foods for survival, a primal instinct.
  • Brain Reward System: These combinations activate dopamine pathways, leading to pleasure and potentially addictive eating behaviors.

Wow! That’s really beautiful tribute Lil. I had no idea they could do that… Amazing.

Good luck at the gym today. Sounds like you think your trainer will give you a hell of a workout.

Good luck to you today. Hopefully it’s like riding a bicycle. Or flying a plane. 😂

That was a seriously cool photograph! The lady on the left looks like a flapper on skis!
