A very productive day. Also it is very understandable that it took a year to
revise the will. I took my time to resolve the trusts. I still have not finalized my “5 wishes” which supplements wills and trusts after 3 years.

I had an old will from the military. Took it in and the lawyer just added new names for the ones who were born and deleted names of the dearly departed. All I had to do was sign the dotted line.

I did have a legal plan through my employer, so I dialed a number and they gave me participating lawyers in my area. Not sure if that had any bearing on my situation.

Now that you mention it, I think I had to do that…or maybe they did it in house. I think the lawyer just used his legal clerk for the witness but all copies were notarized…or maybe it was just the witness statement? Either way, it should be a fairly easy process for B2.

One other thing I’ll add. This is one of those things that you know you need to do but it gets easily pushed off. Take care of it sooner rather than later. My parents went through something with my dad’s business partner. In NC you can pencil changes in. That is until some distant relative challenges the will.

Long story short…keep it up to date or bring it up to date. Less hassles for your loved ones.

Thanks for advice. It was easy to put off. I took everything to my lawyer who made the changes. I paid good money for it. So unless I marry someone (NOT) I will be good in Michigan. In Michigan all changes are done by a lawyer unless you want to go to probate.

Then I headed over to my attorney's office to sign the will she prepared for me... A YEAR AGO! IDK why I was putting it off but it's done now. She's a lovely, patient lady; I'm so glad my friend referred her.

Win Column - facing one's mortality and planning for it is not an easy task. We don't like to be reminded. But it makes such a difference for those we leave behind when... Good for you on getting it done!!

My last stop was at the home of the glass artist. I asked her to make some glass hearts with my husband's ashes. She did a gorgeous job. Her fiance is making stands for them. I had one made with a smaller heart (in pink, no ashes) signifying me. Those two will go into a double stand. I also had one made for my SIL; it will be in a single stand.

I love this idea!!

Yea. The games are good match ups but not who I wanted to see play.
But the games are on. The house is warm and I am steady eating my way through the holidays.

My hot water heater was leaking. Caught it early and was able to drain it. Neglected or just unaware, the valve before it was just turning. Had to shut the whole house off. Got a new one on the 2nd. It is a cold, rainy and foggy day. I hoped to get some shoes for my ankles and sure enough, the ankle problem flared up again. While waiting for the pain meds to work, I called about the referral to an oral surgeon. I am still waiting to hear from them. It’s been 6 weeks since I had a referral. Is the medical establishment that backed up?

I will be leaving to pick up the grandkids in a couple of hours. So I hope I get a call.

I agree, I was constantly delaying it, as well as my Durable Power of Attorney and Living Will. And I'm a lawyer so double shame on me. They are done now.
Also, every US state is different so be careful about out-of-state advice.
