As a former teacher, tad may be the wrong adjective for my pedantry.

The looks of betrayal I would receive were Next Level!![]()
I often wonder after the stores have been pillaged before a storm how much of the food is thrown away.
I have a little extra milk. I run out of fresh veggies starting Wednesday. But will easily survive on the leftover ham and soup. Lots of proteins in the freezer too. It takes a while for potatoes to go bad. Pasta stores well.
An excellent list. I will keep it close. Thanks. As a lifelong resident of a Hurricane Zone we’ve been mini-preppers since I can remember. I’m not doomsday level, but I could be nudged!
Let’s start an Emergency Prep List. Everyone chime in. I’m sure even the most seasoned will learn a trick or two.
1. Food. I stock up on Rice and canned goods and also a little of the expensive camping chow they sell at Sportsman’s Warehouse and Dicks and the like. I figure we’ll eat the good camping grub the first couple nights the power goes out or any leftovers then save the Rice&beans for the apocalypse.
2. Gas. Non-Ethanol for the generator. Sounds like some of y’all are chopp’n wood for wood fired.
3. Plenty of extension cords for the Gen. Long and the big gage type. Don’t forget a multi-plug to plug lots of goodies. I run the Fridge, coffee maker, X-box and TeeVee off one. I also have a small window unit AC unit (still in the box from 5 yrs ago) that I could run but I need to get the buddy i2200 Honda to push all that.
4. A siphon. I have a hand powered crank with a filter on the end. I technically could dip it into my gas tank and have close to 20 gallons of extra gas out of one of the cars.
5. Water purifier. Big deal for Hurricane season but not so much a snow…but it’s an idea. I have the hand held straw type…I would suggest something easier but still charcoal based.
6. Duct Tape or for you military types, 100 mile an hour tape
7. That’s the basics…
Feel free to add to the list. Mine is very regional centric so feel free to add the heavy snow area prep, especially in light of the looming Snowmageddon.
