The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

No, they can't fix it. They can't even do a software update. Their whole system is so screwed up.

The truck keeps saying there's an update. So I click "Download Update", and the very next screen
is that there are no updates at this time. EVERY SINGLE TIME I START THE TRUCK.

Been to the dealer 10 times over this software shit. "We're being told not to do any updates..."

Real soon, I'm going to find the radio module and disable it. They don't need to know where I am, or how I drive, or break my truck worse. Once that warranty is up, this thing is going radio silent... Big brother can take his update and 1984 them right up his ass!

(OK, apparently I'm not done bitching about this... :LOL )
This is why I’m keeping my almost 300k Tundra laying around. It’s a two owner, and I’m familiar with all the maintenance. It’s Achilles Heel is it’s 2wd…

I’m not at all comfortable about having BigBro having the option of just shutting and cutting things out…without my say. I already have an Auto Start/Stop system I hate on the newer truck. Any good ideas on how to bypass that worthless POS?

Didn’t get half of what I wanted to get accomplished yesterday. Other than a good walk, a couple hours at the pub throwing darts, and taking SWMBO out to dinner…

Saving it all up for today. Gotta plan momma’s birthday bash. Easy enough…it’s on SB Sunday. Her biggest wish is probably have me take her to church. If’n you don’t hear from me…you’ll know I may have burst into flames…or pillar of salt…or some other Old Testament cataclysm.

OK..before the MZ…gotta show this. We throw steel tip and soft tip at the local watering hole. Went up with the lads and a couple of their lovely ladies to throw a round of soft tip or two. I hit this Hat Trick (three bullseyes) but the last dart hit the double bull, bounced out and came to rest just as you see it! Even though it bounced out, the electronic board counted the hit!

And now…official MZ——

I dont know which frustrates me more about all the crap they cram in cars. The fact that they can remotely make your vehicle worthless, the fact that people like me can use the left rear turn signal to unlock the doors and start the cars, or the fact that water in said left rear turn signal can short the car's internal computer network, costing a good used car to fix.

They fuck you six weeks from Sunday with this bullshit. I would just watch the regular stuff.
Last olympics I tried DVR to make it so I could watch without commercials and see a whole event. NBC cuts up all the distribution so they only way is to pay for it. This year it looks like streaming on Peacock is heavily advertised. I can't find the cost nor can I discover if it is commercial free like Paramount.

NBC has pizzed me the F off years ago when they took the Tour de France and spread it out all over hells half acre across all their platforms to try to get you to subscribe to Para or Peacock or some other crap.

One of the joys of summer vacation was to drift down, with coffee in hand, and SWMBO and I would watch the race. Now, if you want the freebie, you have to go to the source of all knowledge (U-Toob) and then catch the recap. I think you can actually watch the whole days race a day delayed.

It just isn’t the same…

Seize the dick?

I tried Google translate, but it didn’t find anything.
———

The most common and direct Latin term for "dick" (penis) is
mentula, which was frequently used in1 Roman literature and graffiti, often in a vulgar context. Other terms for the male organ include penis (literally tail), fascis (used as a phallic symbol), or verpa.

Key Latin terms for the male organ include:
  • Mentula:The most common vulgar term, as discussed on the
    Latin Language Stack Exchange

    .
    • Penis: Originally meant "tail" or "pendant," later used for the anatomical organ.
    • Verpa: A vulgar term, often used to refer to a circumcised penis.

These terms were frequently employed in Latin literature, particularly in the works of poets like Catullus and Martial, to describe anatomy, usually in a lewd or humorous context.
Would someone kindly explain why this is imprtant? If you are. Dick … you are a Dick

When I was a kid I used to have an Metal Detector and I found all kinds of cool old rusty stuff.. Like Saw Blades etc..

I love that stuff!!

We’ve had people use metal detectors at our farm. They found some OK stuff, but nothing special. Our friends who do the metal detecting own a feed store near us, and my wife just told me that they found two British coins on one of their expeditions last fall.

There is an old bottle dump up in the woods that I want to excavate. I collect old bottles and I’ll bet there are some beauts back there.
My college roomie’s family farm backed up to the Battle of the Wilderness battlefield in VA. He had boxes…and I mean dozens of boxes of mini balls and shell fragments. I want to say I remember hearing tell of a bayonet but I never saw it.

I think it was mostly from just digging around the farm. I’m not sure if they ever used a metal detector. They wont let you use them near our battlefield. My first GF’s dad did some diving for artifacts and they gave him credit in the museum.

We can watch some live here this year I believe

During his one-year opportunity to work with Jurgensen, the legendary coach Lombardi put it simply: "He may be the best the league has ever seen. He is the best I have seen."
One of Our Native Sons. RIP Sonny.

I only saw the end of his career, but his legend is huge around these parts. Our rival Junior High had all his trophies on display as did our, at one time, only HS.

He was still a fixture in the community, even though DeeCee was his home. He’d come in every year for a golf tournament Willie Stargell would put on. I was on a flight from CLT with him just a few years ago. All of us old timers were star struck! He was greeted by name from every grey hair on that plane! 😂

The way they did it last year was; Day 1 and Day Last broadcast live on the flagship NBC. The whole middle stages were spread out amongst Peacock (subscription), USA network (free), and I’m pretty sure there were one or two other sub channels.

Now, I could drop the $ and not worry about it…but it’s the principle of the thing. As the Tom Petty song goes…

“As we celebrate mediocrity all the boys upstairs want to see
How much you'll pay for what you used to get for free…there goes your freedom of choice…”

I just joined the Süb Chännelz

Up. Coffee. Gonna make some grub soon. Drove home in sneaux and damn if it didn't sneaux some more on top of it. Gotta be to Dr. Tyler's at 11 and I'll be damned if I wanna hafta scrape, but I have no choice, it seems. Wat wants choices. No matter, I reckon.

For some reason, it feels a bit more like stuff is just going to work out Generally over the next several months and just to get out of the way and let it happen. Go down the Zen road and just breathe . . . .
I’m hoping so, brother.

I found a search box on DirecTV. It is a bit simpler to DVR what you want to see. No ads for Peacock yet. The local NBC USA and CNBC is where the coverage is. So far I have only tried watching a little speed skating and women's free style skiing. They jam the commercials up to the starting gun and back to commercial right at the end. I think I remember when it was Jim McCay and ABC Sports that did the Olympics. Instead of non-stop commercials they had history of athletes and sport.
If Peacock would say if it is no commercials or not I would consider it. But I also have no idea if there is anything else I need Peacock for. The only other time I heard of Peacock was they blacked out NFL football so Peacock could show commercials on their streaming platform. NFL on NBC sucks anyway.
I hope I can watch the curling this time. The recordings are set a few on USA and in the evening prime time on CNBCHD. I like professional curling. I learned to love it the one year I got up to Canada with the family my brother married into. I didn't skate so I didn't play hockey. I wanted to drive the plow. It was cool the dock was frozen into the lake with a ramp. They plowed a large area smooth. The sun never really came up. So what was night was a lot of booze and Canadians fussing over who made the stones, if they were all the same weight and smoothness. I haven't laughed that hard for that long since.
I am going to try and watch some of these Olympics. I think I enjoy the winter ones more than summer. I will just have to find time where I can fast forward commercials. If I just let it play I will see the first thing and then lose track blocking out the commercials in my head while doing something productive.
Here I am impressed with the wind. It is really happening. Hope it doesn't last I need charcoal and wood to burn slow tomorrow.

We live in a rust belt. At 150K they're literally falling apart. Nothing lasts around here. I've scraped up part of some of my cars out of the driveway with a shovel. I am NOT kidding about the shovel. If you slam the door on something with 150K miles, there's a good chance the rocker panel will hit the dirt. Otherwise, yes, I'd keep older stuff around. I'm slowly working towards a winter beater, and summer car again. But even then summers are so short it's hardly worth it.

We didn't even bother setting up the satellite network on the newest one (free for 3 years). If it needs a software update the dealer sends a letter. We drive the 200 mile round trip to let them flash the update.

This new truck is a "covid special", and came without autostart stop. They actually gave $50 back to drop the feature! It's the only positive about the damn thing.
