The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Caught up once again.

Today was a bittersweet day. I picked up the hearts I commissioned from a local glass artist. She made two blue hearts with my husband's ashes blown into them. She also made a smaller pink heart with glitter in it to signify me. Her fiance made display stands for them. One is a dual stand for my heart and my husband's heart. The other is a single stand to hold the other blue heart. I'm giving it to my SIL.

I'm putting the dual stand on one of my floating shelves. I need to figure out how to backlight it as it's pretty dark right now.

What a beautiful tribute! I love them! They have those puck type lights you could hide for backlighting maybe?

The work weasels are snapping and popping. Not much time these last couple days. Chipping away at getting caught up. Short and sweet today.

Was starting to think I would never get caught up again... past my bedtime but I'll try for a quick catch up. Y'all been busy!!
Part 1

 someone didn't?

I feel like we learned this with children's television programming...
Near... Far
Abierto... Cerrado
Short Game... Long Game

Prevention being worth a pound of cure
AND... you didn't lose a buttload of money in the process
Win! 🎉 Annoying win, but still a win in my book

What's wrong with Creative Reading?
sometimes it's more fun that way 😂

Let them know I miss them already
That's a good kind of friend to have

🫂 That's awful!!
I just made a spectacle of myself. First time (only time) skiing. Bunny hill. Given a 5 minute "How To" by my Scout Leader who couldn't wait to get on the Black Diamon runs. So I knew how things were supposed to work.
Lift chair...
Got to the top... got all ready... stood up ... and down I went... under the chair. Staff yelling at me to stay down... other staff yelling to stop the lift. Then they kindly helped me up... tried to explain what I was doing wrong... then pointed me to where to go to ski down the hill.
They were very patient... but at around try # 15 they politely asked me to take an extended break in the warming house.
Yeah - I just sat in a chair and read my book until everyone else in the troop was done skiing.

That's not a good association to have

Anyone remember this movie?
Watch the trailer... there's a little Insurance Nugget in there for you, @Wonderer67 😂
IMDB: Crazy People (1990)

Hope it brings you some relief!! 🫂

But... they come bearing coffee... not great coffee, but free, mostly drinkable until you're awake to go and get better coffee, coffee. :coffee: :coffee:

Countdown!! 730 Days...

I always feel bad when I hear people talk about work trips with zero time for any sightseeing. I don't expect a company to pick up the tab for a free vacation. But would be nice to have a free afternoon or lighter morning or the option to pay your own way for a few days before returning so long as the return fare would cost the same.

Part 2

You have no idea! A good book, I mean a really good read? I don't even see the book... It's like an Immersive Reading Experience.
I see what I'm reading, I hear each character's voice and inflection. I have read through alarms at night - alarms set so I would go to bed at a decent time. I have read through entire nights. I have read through classes - unintentionally.
I have told people they may need to put their hands over the pages of my book so I can't see the words... and they don't believe me - until they try to get my attention. :geek: 📖 📚

Same... and the news classes in college that were part of my major? They killed any desire to work in journalism - print, tv/cable, radio... any news.

Yep - exceptions to the general fare

At least it was a clear message??
Countdown... uhm, when exactly next year?

Turn it around, @B2fromA2looking4U !! You got this!! 🫂

You could be onto something

Water weasels?

Hmm, I'm familiar with Sniper and Spotter
Whatcha call this one? 😂

Down is good... still a win 'cause it's the right direction!! 🎉 🫂

Because the coyotes snack on squirrel?

Hmm... which one snacks on the other in this equation?

Wait. Like, some town official thought a wild animal would respect the town borders that humans concocted?

My BFF has a friend with a "Days 'Til Spring" countdown going. She told me a day ago it was at 40... didn't have the heart to tell her we have a possible snowstorm in the forecast for next week. :ROFLMAO:

Creative Lyrics - anyone else?

Glad you're able to get a few things checked off your list. 🫂

If you can get past "tree rat" enough to appreciate some wildlife photography, Dani Connor has loads of red squirrel pics

I do okay with photos but IRL my eyesight is too crap for anything but "bird" :ROFLMAO:

Always happy to help clean up my own mess
It was some redneck hillbilly that decided he wNted to see squirrels.... so he trapoed and released into the middle of the village... and rodents do what they ate gonna do

They have LED votive candles that might work nice. There would be no cords to worry about and they have a small remote.

Squirrels can rotate their hind feet nearly 180 degrees backward thanks to specialized "rotary" or "double-jointed" ankle joints. This unique anatomical feature allows them to dig their sharp claws into bark, enabling them to descend trees headfirst with stability, speed, and agility, as well as hang upside down.
Wow! I am not a fan of squirrels, but this is really interesting

That reminds me of the cabin we had up at a lake in Pa. If it wasn't coffee it was jack on the rocks and the deck was the same material. Thanks, I am going to have to go dig those pictures up.
