The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Did you guys have the old Builder's Square? A guy I worked with called it Bewildered Square, which was pretty spot on.

He was short of work, so I helped him get a job for a co-worker of the then g/f. He hired me to help ramrod the job, which was exterior painting. Spraying stucco. Bull work - my thing, not his. She gave him an extra $100 bonus for making her happy (yes, Wat did) and told him to split it with me. Guess what didn't happen?

Damned fool thought two women wouldn't discuss that tidbit . . . .
Never heard of BS. We have a Rockler's now. Endless supply of woodworking gadgets. I am afraid to go in there. I went in thinking I would make all the cabinet doors and drawers in the house soft close. Would have needed a second mortgage to complete it.

Huh. All that to say, "not the best option"?
🤨
Sorry, I am not a climate kook. But didn't think it appropriate to say not worth the trouble. When I lived in that 'god's country' in Jersey the woman I lived with was overboard on green. Converted the appliances and heat to propane, solar and batteries. The propane was ok and better than not having gas to cook with. The solar didn't make much difference and when we actually needed the batteries the inverter would have an issue or the most of batteries were dead. There wasn't enough to turn on the tv or turn the pump for the hot water heat. The fan would run so the water would heat. Allowed for a hot shower. And oh yeah. Don't ever consider a composting toilet either. Almost had to cut that section of house off. Getting all her shit out of the house was a disaster. I ended up taking the window out and threw it out that way. Drug it up the hill behind a dilapidated barn with the tractor.

This is probably what I have. It's rampant here in the west. My therapist said they were seeing it in the east now, too. 😤

I thought I would get on for a bit tonight to show proof of life. I'm still inhabited by most of the evil dwarves:

Snotty
Sneezy
Grumpy
Tired but can't sleepy
Fussy
Cranky
Coughy

I'm headed to bed. Will try again tomorrow to catch up. Love you guys! 💞✨💖
Get well. I don't think I am sick, but the daily changes in weather bring a new symptom each time for me. Today is wet nose. Sore throat that comes and goes. Feels like I need to cough but I don't if I do.... Its 60 and dark outside. I'm going to bump the heat.

It was difficult to cook for one. I did it as a grad student and now as a widower. I do go out to eat more these days.
I would go out more, but it is usually too much food that is not really that good for me. And I am more aware of how much things cost now. Plus it is almost always better when I had a hand in making it. Like Friday when I did that chicken divan with scallops and a few shrimps. It tasted good but what boat anchor. I felt like I swallowed one of those anvil Wat found.

Feeling it too.
We can commiserate!

Hang in there... some days are better than others.
(Unfortunately, it takes some crappy ones to make to good ones good.)
My dad has an infection of some sort
If the medical.assistant would have done her fucking job the urine sample my dad already gave would have resulted and he would be on antibiotics

Couldn't sleep last night. Then neither of us wanted to get out of bed this morning. Dog finally talked us into it. Finally rolled out and had some breakfast watching the snow coming down. Unfortunate this is coming from the east which is bad for us here. Lots of wind and drifting from that direction. Watching it blow across the garage roof was like watching a sand garden. Went out to top off the tractor tank, so we're ready.

So, plan is to hunker down and work on stuff in the shop. Have a few projects that need some slow tedious fiddling, this seems like the day for it.

I'm procrastinating another lasagna build. Run the oven and warm up the house.

I saw 4 ft of snow and blozzard winds in the forecast

I don't understand women
Me neither…

Well folks. It’s Sunday. Went out window shopping for new iron and my number Hana son nabs himself a nice G19. I drooled but my ship doesn’t come in till next week so will get serious then.

Stayed up waaaaaaay too late in an attempt to watch the race…I made it maybe 10 laps and threw in the towel. The good news is the new AppleTeeVee deal lets you pick up where you left off and I slept in moseyed on down fired up the coffee machine and finished. I hate to admit the new setup makes for good racing…even though I’m ag’in it in principle…

Spitting rain here today. Need to get my butt out and clean the porch from the wind storm two three days ago…

Everyone have a great day. Welcome back Boat and Lili…get well my dear. OM you be careful in that part of the world.

Many decades ago, my husband and I went to PA for a family reunion on my mom's side. We were in Allentown and Bethlehem for it, then planned some side trips for us. Hubs wanted to go to Gettysburg, we both wanted to go to some Amish towns, and I wanted to go to Hershey. He tried to veto the Hershey trip saying we didn't have enough time. I told him I wasn't going to be "this close" to chocolatetown and not go.

We visited Hershey! 🍫
Please tell me you did Gettysburg at some point? It really is a must see. We ended up staying an extra two days just to get the whole thing in…

Imagine we’re all there helping out.

Having your mom iron our shirts and listening to your dad’s trucker stories.

And of course making food for them and helping around the house. Many hands make light work.
Trucker stories are the BEST!

SWMBO comes from a family of truckers. We took a trip from Dallas to El Paso to Tombstone and back to Dallas w two stops in El Paso there and back to spend time w family.

My FiL had one of those JACKED CB’s in the truck that goes to 300 or 400 channels. We got a late start and the girls and kids were out like lights. We did the first 9 hr leg to ELP without turning the radio on, just listening to truckers on the Citizens Band! My FiL can spin a yarn and I laughed till I cried. He turned 9hrs into what seemed like 4.

FWIW…If you haven’t tuned up a CB since Smokey and the Bandit was a thing…some things have changed. Truckers have those CB’s with the chips in them so the Pros stay in the upper bands to weed out the yahoo’s.

They also have advertisements now at the top of the hour. Flying J Truck Stop would have a gal come on and advertise gas prices and sales on antenna’s and mikes and stuff for like 5 mins straight.

Also, the FCC doesn’t seem to monitor the lower channels anymore. Channel 19 is crazy…dirty jokes and cursing…

This ain’t yer daddy’s CB radio any no more!
