Have my cousin over from Canada for a few days so doing the tour guide thing today. Sadly I couldn’t change the wind cold n rain but we did watch an otter close up on the river!

I'm a fan of watching ospreys fish. Big fan!!!

Update for those interested. Will seems to be getting over his op. He is bouncing around in his usual way and almost ignored his tail. He is back for a change of dressing tomorrow so fingers crossed!

Oh I did score a nice used Orvis fly reel on a guide site I’m a member of. These pro guides down in FL turn over their equipment yearly. So they’ll throw some expensive stuff up on the SwapShop for cheap! I’ve overhauled my whole kit over the last few years.

Totally agree. I do like dark chocolate and will eat a few chocolate chip cookies when I make them.
It's bagels and cream cheese I'm craving. Sometimes I pretend popcorn is not not bad for you and pop a bag of that. Not quite as bad as eating crackers or toast in bed.

That part of my sleep hygiene is clean - no eating in the bedroom. A water bottle with a secure top is the most in the bedroom.
Nothing better than a good bagel with yummy toppings.

I will clean them but they need to be dispatched before i touch em....

I can learn... I go through phases. Currently in the Inquisitive and Not Squeamish phase
But if they're not sushi-grade, I will not partake

The weather was better than expected as no icy patches. But the road grader at 25 mph for 5 miles delayed me. Then the other idiot drivers has me considering retiring.

Well done … Orvis is great kit!

I scored another Orvis reel about ten years ago. Here in the States we have a store called Play it Again Sports. You take your gently used or not so gently used gear into them, they give you credit for what you brought in and then resell the gear.

I overhauled many a golf bag for twenty years or so going in during the winter when the golf shops up north would send last years gear or stuff they couldn’t move down to these resell places.

Anyhow, I was golf bag shopping when I spied a light weight fly rod hanging on the wall. Upon further inspection It was a 4 wt Orvis Clearwater reel, attached to a cheap Pflueger rod. Asking price…$49.95!

Now, our big box outlets have prepackaged starter fly rod sets for right around $49.95. The guys in the store when price checking, not knowing their gear, only looked up Pflueger. Not the Orvis reel. Had they done so, they’d of seen a new Clearwater was going for around $150 at the time!

I’ll take it I told the man!

PS…I found an all green Original Orvis made in England about 5 yrs ago. In the original box with papers! It’s my dedicated trout reel I attached to a Moonshine Fiberglass Rod (they do some new throwback rods). I have a very old school look out on the river!

I tend to filet so I can leave the guts in God's package. You could teach me the trick so it is neat and I will go to work. I know with smaller fish like trout, perch or even sunfish it is more economical to preserve the body intact. I enjoy cleaning anything I catch or kill. Some people think it is gross. I like the cooking and eating parts too. Having a rod and reel that makes you feel special is as important as my filet knives. I will say you are fortunate to have the opportunity to use them.

Busy day at the farm today. I’ve been splitting Firewood like a son of a bitch for the last five or six days to get over a pretty severe funk and skid that I’m in.

I guess it kept me occupied.

Worked on the tractor today and got er fired up! Loaded two large logs and brought them to the sawmill.

Saw my buddy tonite who’s really sick. He just got a wheelchair so a little more mobile! Brought him and his fam some sushi. Great night.

Headed to Florida tomorrow. Spring training baseball.

Found a guided group in the mountains of NC for smallmouth. Getting in the weeds for a summer trip. Shipping SWMBO off to TX with half the tribe. The youngest (my fishing buddy) and I are gonna hit it hard on that vacation. I gave SWMBO the option of getting a cabin so we could all be together…I guess we’ve been together long enough…. She took the showing off the granddaughter option to her side of the family.

Guess she didn’t want to clean no fish? . Wives…
