The Abyss [OOC]

Name: Jerome
Age: 28
Race: Werewolf
Height: 6'0" Human Form, 8'3" Beast Form
Hair: See photos. :p
Eyes: Ditto.

Personality: A bit cocky and flippant on the outside, since the purging he's held a lot of pent up rage under that almost unassuming exterior.

Special Abilities: Typical werewolf attributes.

Weapons: None.

Bio: Werewolves were typically a proud race which relied heavily on the brotherhood of their respective pack. For one to desire cutting ties with their kin was often treated as an act of betrayal, and few ever wished to do so beyond a short lived sabbatical anyway. This was true of Jerome, whom did break away of his pack for short, or even extended periods of time while living by his own rules, but always returned upon hearing the call of his brethren. His identity was his own, carving out a small place for himself in this crazy world, but his life belonged to the pack; and he'd have it no other way.

This was the case when it came time for every able bodied male and female to defend their own during the Purge. Knowing what may come, Jerome quit his job as the bartender at a local club, and said a few cryptic farewells to those he knew would never be part of his life again. In his mind, the lycanthrope knew this was a hopeless battle, just as he was certain so many others of his pack realized. But the humans were coming for their home. Their land which belonged to their ancestors for many generations. For most of the pack, there was no life worth living if they willingly gave that up.

Through whatever cruel twist of fate decreed it, Jerome remained as the last known surviving member of his pack. Nearly killed in battle, he awoke buried under the corpses of those who fought alongside him. Those whom hunted with him since youth. Those whom were the only true family in his life. It took an incredible degree of self control to slip away while the remaining humans were busy destroying the remaining corpses after taking a few for whatever testing they had planned out for afterward.

Since that time, the lone wolf has begrudgingly resumed to blend amongst humans, with his outside demeanor masking a bitter anger and desire to rip the throat out of every human which crosses his path. Refusing to once again subjugate himself to working for any human, he's turned toward grifting and small time theft when it came to providing money and other necessities; a hard fall for someone once a part of a pack with a proud history. But looking at how far others of his species had fallen since the purge, he supposed it could be worse.

Name: Grigori, but everyone calls him Runt.

Age: 19 (Trolls age very similar to humans, though their mentalities often differ)

Race: Troll

Appearance: 7'4" Stocky build, gray skin with darker patches. His face is just a shade less horrific than the typical troll. His tusks are less pronounced (yet another reason they call him Runt), and his overall features could almost pass for human, if they didn't already know what to look for. Some say Runt's father was human; the result of a drunken man stumbling into a dark place and laying with something he did not understand. His self-hygeine is surprising; his hair is a wild mane, but not dirty, his skin is often clean. He is very much an atypical troll. It is perhaps part of the reason he's survived as long as he has.

Personality: Grigori's actually bright, for a troll. There are those who say his father was a gnome, and that is not only why he's short, but also why he's too inquisitive for his own damned good. Despite the danger of his situation, he enjoys watching people when he can, learning their mannerisms and trying to mimick them when he talks to himself. Talking to himself is his main form of entertainment, as there aren't exactly many others to speak with. If he has the opportunity, he'll follow someone for an entire day. If he ever found a friend, he would be fiercely loyal, putting his own neck on the line to protect them.

Special Abilities: Regeneration, superior vision in the dark, more than human strength and surprising agility.

Weapons: He's a troll. What more does he need?

Bio: The Purge was unkind to every nonhuman, but the trolls had the very rawest end of the stick, Or so they thought. It was not easy to hide amongst the humans, being so large. But they made due, until they were slowly whittled down to their last ranks. A small band stayed together, moving in the sewers to keep away from the light of day, and the painful rays of the humans' weapons.

Grigori was always made fun of for his small stature. As compared to a human, he was a giant. Seven feet, four inches of muscle and sinew, somehow still appearing stout. Yet this was miniscule when he stood next to his brethren. In the end, it was his size that saved Grigori from the fate that seemed inescapable for his race.

The humans had begun to sweep the sewers, just to be thorough in their eradication of the things they did not understand. Even in the most pitch-dark, their lights pierced the shadows, burning and killing even the hardiest of the troll band. Their broad shoulders and large limbs made it nearly impossible to fit into some of the tighter spaces, the very ones that would allow them to survive.

One by one they were murdered. Grigori watched, unable to do anything to help his fallen friends. He had managed to wedge himself into a drainage tunnel, breaking a few bones just to fit. He stared out into the darkness as their lights left nothing but the remains of his band, his family.

He waited a long while before daring to emerge, feeling his bones shift and reset. Not knowing a better course of action, he fled to the surface, stealing what could pass for clothing to cover himself. He stuck to the dark alleys, stealing what he needed to survive. Through bits and pieces of information gathered in corners, at stoops, and from the snippets of the news read from other peoples' lips, Grigori has heard there is to be a meeting of nonhumans. There must be a place for him there, because the humans have clearly shown their stance on his existence.

Thanks guys!

Well, looking at the current list of participants... I think we're good to get going. All other bios I will keep in case we are in need of any more people. At this time though, I'd like to keep the group small. In the future, it might expand or shrink based on the story and the activity. Thanks again to all those who turned in bios.

I will get the thread up and an initial post in by tomorrow night.

will have something Sunday or Monday (still working on photoshopping a picture into a vampire)

This story and cast looks pretty promising. I think I shall be stalking ya'll! I look forward to reading

It's nice to know that someone is here to keep Mister J in line....
She grins, leaning against the door way with a tray of hot cookies fresh from the oven.

Cookie? Watch your fingers. they're still a little bit on the soft side. Thought to offer a bribe- um I mean treat - to encourage the writing a bit you know.
