The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good luck Millie and all others in the path of today's storms. Wishes for peace and safety sent your way.

I'm no longer able to function in that area. Even short posts are hard to read and comprehend. I find I have to read some more than once. Typing is worse, multiple errors in even a few words like this.

My time is approaching, but it's unlikely anyone will know.

My 4hr road trip turned into 6+. Came home and collapsed. Now I'm laying on the couch slathered in horse liniment and picking through my next few chapters to submit.

I ended up going down a rabbit hole of old Lit posts last night and have a bit of a sad, but on the flip side- wow, we were so young and shiny and crazy. And funny. We were really funny.

It was a very different place, but it's still fun. Glad you're back

Bittersweet to see so many gone, but I was still giggling over some of the nonsense threads. And Zeb's endless "handyman" posts on some of the goofy hangout threads. The man knew how to make a girl's heart go pitter patter with a garden design.

You made me wonder about Zeb_Carter. He stopped posting in the AH quite a while ago. I searched, and he's still posting, but in the General Board.

We have plenty of water for tea, the rains were torrential yesterday and the power went out.
But we're back, we're back up and the coffee is on, as is a pot of tea.

Coffee to the left of me, Java to the right ...
Here I am, stuck in the middle wanting tea.

I'll have some Earl Grey please ...

Raining all day here, then five days of sun. Was able to mow one yard last night, then Tuesday before things are dry enough for the others.

Funny how pictures don't tell the whole story sometimes. We're debating a move, and found a place across town that seemed appealing on the realtor's site. Looked at it yesterday. Nuh uh. Yes, it was big (2000 sq.ft.) and certain features hit on what we were after, but it was 75 years old with a partial kitchen upgrade and the original bathrooms. Flooring had been pulled-up throughout. Probably $100K worth of renovations in the offing.

I'm too old for that shit. Pass the pot, please.

Okay, world! You had your chance last night, but I’m still here!

BTW, do we have any iPad gurus out there? For some reason, I find I cannot vote on Literotica stories. Empty stars simply refuse to fill. The machine seems to do everything else and my PC will take votes. Is this a setting issue or is it (equally likely, IMHO) wiggly-amp tech distain for my years?

You have J-a-v-a-S-c-r-i-p-t* turned off for some reason? It'll be under Safari settings. Also, try Firefox from the app store, even if only as a sanity check. Apple has been doing things in recent Safari releases trying to protect you from yourself. You know how that works.

This morning featured a park with a coffee van at its entrance. Which supplied very nice coffee with freshly-ground beans and all. The guy looked like he was adding something highly illegal under his hand to someone's cup. He then explained that his chocolate shaker was broken, which meant he had to shake the powder off a spoon, but if he wasn't incredibly careful, the wind would get it and customers would end up with a faceful of chocolate powder. With the voice of experience, he said, "It really doesn't go down well!"

If I have the energy, I'll be pulling century-old plaster off the lath behind, so we can replace the toilet walls for easy finishing. Half of it was a bodge job in the 1970s, the other half (the original walls) wasn't done that well when the place was built (1905ish). Also getting rid of some quite terrifying 50s electrics which we unwired when we moved in, but didn't remove. Electric cables should not go through toilet cisterns!

Thanks. I'll check.

This place was quite the project. Especially the electrics, some of which dated back to the 1920s, mostly to the 60s and 70s but done by the owner's nearly-blind grandfather who was 101 when he gave up, or the sighted but stupid uncle. When we removed lots of boxing-in, we found the entire kitchen was actually running off one 25A fuse... what looked like wall sockets were just extension leads plugged into another extension lead wired into the consumer unit.

It was so bad that any electrician saw the consumer unit and fuse board and said "I'm not touching that, way too dangerous, get the electric company in!" And the leccy company said "We're not touching that, get an electrician!" After a few months of going in circles, the spouse bought a deluxe set of insulated screwdrivers and did it himself (he is qualified but doesn't do electrics professionally), taking eight hours to replace it all while I sat next to him to ensure it was all done carefully...

We're finally replacing the toilet, so we won't have a wire sticking out each side of the cistern, sealant stopping it leaking...

Thanks. I'll check.

Both solutions just confirmed, BTW. J---S----- is under "Advanced" in the Safari settings.

You may have turned it off for a reason. I do, for security, since some bad-boy sites might go off and do things you don't want. That's why I turn it off and favor the Firefox solution.

I've had issues with various browsers on my ipad. I currently use Opera for Lit, and I checked if your MHC story would accept a 5* vote. It did...

Sometimes it does take a bit of time to register.
