The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

There’s a nasty, long-lasting cold going around. Both the Boss and I were seriously surprised when our COVID tests came back negative.
I'm into week three of mine. Just two days of a very mild sore throat. But the worst part is the never-ending sinus congestion.

I WISH this was like the last time I had COVID. That time, it only lasted two days, and I was completely over it.

Thanks for catching the coffee @MrPixel, I've been incredibly busy the last few days getting book #5, The Adventures of Captain Scarlett ready for my publisher.
I found that it's not the book that's hardest to write, it's the 400 character summary that the publisher wants.

A long time member just favourited one of my early stories. 😎

Then I noticed it was one of over 45,000 they had liked... 😕

Lunch and a fresh pot of coffee, I think.

Wow! I haven't seen a count that high. I guess you don't get to revel in your exclusive company.

I had a fellow favorite a story and when I went to look at his favorites my computer locked up. I didn't have enough RAM to list all his favorites. I stopped looking at that point.

It’s so nice she hasn’t forgotten us ‘little people’ now that she”s successful. 😀
Hey, I have 4 books on the Bargain rack, with #5 heading out any day now. I'm going to have to learn to drink my coffee with my pinkie extended.

Lean over the table while you figure that out, so you don't spill it in your lap.

Dinner was steamed shrimp with bowtie pasta in limoni sauce. If I fix that enough times, then I might get it right.

Strange event, for me, anyway. A reader asked if I would 'take a request' to write a story about his fantasy. I answered that I would consider it. It would be a new challenge.

Anyone with a similar experience?✍️🍵📬

Hmm, DM. There have been a few threads out on AH about this, and from the ones I read it seems that there have been enough negative experiences to warrant concern. You might want to search for "request" in thread titles and see what pops up.

Yeah, I've had a couple of readers make requests, and I've written one story where I could see a plot. He was pretty chuffed.

Mostly, I politely decline.

Yeah, I had a request from a guy who claimed to be from Sweden or Denmark, I forget which. He asked if I could do a story about a rich guy who would kidnap women and surgically convert them to mermaids. And that's the least weird part.

Coffee is on for all you early risers

Oh, he asked you too? I could never figure out the mechanics of human / mermaid interactions, so I backed slowly away.
