The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

The gas company continues to work on the leak. Teams from three other states are here to help. The electric heater is working great. But those cold showers are really getting tough.

I have my blackberry Dr Pepper at my side. It's the best way to wake up. No sweets.

Good for you, Millie. That on-and-off crap can really wear a person down.

Today? I need to stop working on stories and file our damn tax forms. They've been done for a month, I just need to proofread one more time, click on "send", and send the state a small chunk o' money. We're getting a refund on fed, but carrying that over to next year because I already know we'll owe. The "easy" US tax filing system is designed for people who work traditional jobs for companies; if you're in the gig economy it's an incredible PITA, and even worse with retirement incomes.

...sigh...

No heat is manageable. Cold showers are not fun. And Sunday night I begin the prep shower/cleansing for Monday's surgery. I'm already shivering just thinking of it.

@_Lynn_ - you can hang out here until you get your heat back.
@MillieDynamite - I'm glad you're feeling better. There's a bottle of Jameson on the shelf for your coffee.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are various pastries on the counter for those with a sweet tooth. I think I even saw some baklava for those into Greek pastries.

I got some more writing done and can finally see a clear path to the ending. Now I just need to keep pounding away on the keyboard to get it done.

Thanks, it's about time to get to writing, so I probably should pass.

*Grabs @MillieDynamite's bottle of Jameson and adds 2 glugs to a hot cup of coffee*

Ah yes! Just finished a BIG project that I have been working on for 6 months and started re-writing an entire series. Accomplishment!

I hate waiting for edited stories to be released by Laurel and whatever bots she uses for that, but I got 2 completely re-written stories through her YAY/NAY Machine (two to three weeks each) and a third new story slid through in 1 day.

*Eyes @_Lynn_ 's Blackberry Dr. Pepper... will that mix with @MillieDynamite 's Jameson? Science demands to know*

G'morning, all. Taxes are done. Gawd. My head hurts.

Ran to the local Menards (big regional DIY store) last night. Went for minor supplies, ended-up in the garden department for five 7' tall "emerald cedar" trees. Their annual shipment had clearly arrived earlier that day, so I got the pick of the litter at an especially nice price for trees that size. They're beautiful and absolutely perfect for sound suppression at the studio. Will need to call the utility locator folks tomorrow and have them mark where I shouldn't dig. Total surprise for C, and she fully approved. Not often you get your vision satisfied this way.

Working on my "Yay Team" entry, and currently am in a quandary... some of the team is billeted at a hotel near the college gym for the night before the tournament, and one of the coaches is working pretty hard trying to dial back their no-pajama party. He's not succeeding, so I'm backtracking to un-write some of the worst of it to give the ladies a chance to concentrate on their game prep.

I burned the last of the wood for the chiminea last night, so it's time to put the chiminea away and make room for the patio table.

The fountain is set up and running. I need to refill the big flower pot of petulaca (portulaca) and put sweaters away for the summer.

But in my WIP, we're still just working up to New Year's Eve.

I only drink water or Dr Pepper, so I can't help you there. :)

It's working, thankfully. The electric heater was great but it didn't do a thing for the cold showers.

Since it's Puffin Day, we'll celebrate by serving up roast puffin, fried puffin, and puffin casserole. Yum, yum!

There a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot so you can have something to wash the puffin down with. There are also donuts on the counter if you don't want any puffin.

My story is zooming ahead, now involving an international criminal mastermind as well as drug cartels. Hope everyone's writing is doing as well as mine.

Mmm. Tastes like chicken.

I got a lot done yesterday, but very little of it was writing. Now my body aches, but at least the patio is ready for its summertime uses.

That stew looks delicious, CK. Maybe I should skip breakfast and go straight to lunch!

Today is... tree felling day! The last of our backyard trees, a now-deceased shingle oak, is right now in the stages of being cut down. Somewhat a victim of the fallen fences, our demolition guy said, "Now's the time!" since everything was torn-up from dealing with the masonry and the fence foundation. Demo guy is to return after the tree and two stumps are extracted to re-level the yard, then the new fence is installed, and then the lawn is replanted.

Of course, progress is limited by the weather. Rain delayed the tree work by two weeks, and they're squeaking by, getting it done today and maybe tomorrow before more rain settles in for a week or longer on Wednesday.

Ain't home ownership wonderful?

Hello, all, and good morning, though it may be later than that where you are. I'm drinking a frothy Latte macchiato. Mmm, that's good to the last drop, unlike the brand that makes the claim.
