The AI & Data Center Thread

WSJ has an interesting article out today about the Doomers. Paywall but worth reading if you can get to it. They’re weird. They worry about the end of humanity, but seem to have a lot of fun while they worry. Rooftop happy hours, cocktails with doomsday names. Get togethers in tropical venues. Clothing optional dips in the ocean. Counting the $ money they’re rolling in. lol.

The horseshoe is real. You've got doomers on both sides.

I see. In the case of AI, one end is the doomers. The other end is the accelerationists. And both groups share a common view that AI is terrible yet good.

🙄

BabyBoozer (a POS GASLIGHTING MAGAt) is trying to label those who have legitimate concerns about AI / data centers as "Doomers", just like they label those who have legitimate concerns about DonOld & the MAGAt republicans as suffering from "TDS"…

And BabyBoozer’s simp reliably simps…

👎

Meanwhile:

There ARE legitimate concerns about AI / data centers AND DonOld & the MAGAt republicans leading to the doom of MANY Americans & others (MANY Americans & others have already been doomed by both), and there IS a legitimate concern that both (separately AND in concert) WILL contribute to global doom (about a 50/50 chance, imho).

There is A REASON “The Doomsday Clock” has NEVER been closer to “Midnight”….

👎

Hope that ^ helps.

I’ve never said there aren’t legitimate concerns, and I didn’t coin the “doomer” term. If you followed AI news, you’d be familiar with the term. Try googling it.

BabyBoozer (a POS GASLIGHTING MAGAT) is "just the messenger"…

BabyBoozer "clearly" has "NO OPINION" on the matter one way or the other…

You're such a weirdo. He posted an article and commented on the article.

Nothing can be opposed to your worldview and it's more fascist than anything boomer has ever done.

"Some people" are such easily gaslighted gullible simps…

Deliberately not quoting is a tell.

"I won't address your comment"

Thats because I'm right and you're more of a fascist than most people here

Your problem is that you see everything through a “MAGA” lense. Trump lives rent free in your brain. AI is not about MAGA.

AI is here to stay

Data centers are here to stay

AI is transformational. It comes with huge benefits and huge risks.

You can pretend that’s not true. You live in denial.

And now BabyBoozer (a POS GASLIGHTING MAGAt) pretends they did NOT attempt to mock & dismiss those with legitimate concerns about AI / data centers AND DonOld & the MAGAt republicans dooming individuals & humanity when they posted / shared that "innocent" article from the NYT pushing the “Doomer” label (just like MAGAts push the “TDS!!!” label)…

😑

At least BabyBoozer’s simp played along…

See post 184 where I referenced a video YOU shared. I acknowledged the real and terrifying risks of AI as well as tremendous potential of the technology discussed by the journalist YOU cited.

You toggle between arguing that AI is a bubble that can’t last, and arguing that AI is going to destroy us. You’re basically arguing with yourself. (Accented with cute emojis). Make up your mind!

Data centers are less popular than nuclear energy and Republicans trying to win their elections are distancing themselves from trump and the centers because they are so unpopular.

🤡

Rich county says, “Yeah, no” to data centers …

Trump's home county hits pause on data centers over environment and electric bill concerns

And Republicans are trying to look like they’re doing something …

Hurt by Trump, Senate Republicans plan to bolster affordability credentials before midterms

US Senate Republicans aim to improve their election prospects by voting on legislation that seeks to protect consumers from rising electricity bills caused by data centers, hoping to win over voters struggling with inflation stoked by President Donald Trump's war ‌with Iran.

Republicans had the option to depart Washington on Thursday and stay out until after the November 3 midterm election. But they chose to return next week to take up the Ratepayer Protection Act at the behest of Senator Jon Husted, who is trailing the Democratic candidate, former Senator Sherrod Brown, in Ohio, a state Trump won by more than 11 points in 2024.
