Nuclear power is getting a little traction in the data center industry. No federal, state or regional mandates are in place that I’m aware of, but Microsoft is partnering with the operators of Three Mile Island to restart that facility. Google, Amazon and Meta are partnering with some regional nuclear power providers as well. I’ve also seen some articles about companies developing small scale reactors to serve the data center industry. One idea I had the other day is that companies should be required to put in nuclear reactors for their data centers. No coal or oil. I think that would answer the power issue and a lot of the emission issues.
And they should dedicate 10% of their computer power to address the other issues.. Eventually, new ways of cooling and powering and even noise.pollution can actually be solved using the.centers themselves
