Reading about the law isn't that hard. Lay people do it all the time and most don't have any issues understanding what's going on. Yes, in the beginning it's a lot of work to read something and then have to stop to go lookup what is being talked about, then return to your reading only to have to stop and go look up more stuff. But, eventually, you get the feel of how it's done and you can read more and then understand more. Once you get to that level, you can actually participate in the discussions without needing to impugn others to cover up your ignorance and inadequate debate skills.

He's obviously capable of learning, his career proves that. What he's forgotten is that when you're talking you're not listening. And if you don't listen, you cannot learn anything.
