This is an idea that's been sitting around for a long time, but I know I'll never get to. Not even sure why I can't bring myself to write it, I just know it's not there. I finally decided that it really deserves for someone to run with it. Wasn't originally erotic but certainly could be.

MC realizes they can peek forward many years in time. They quickly realize that they're inhabiting their future self for brief periods. They have no control over when they see. Unfortunately, understanding doesn't come with the transfer, so there are a lot of confusing moments where they don't recognize people they've known for years (but haven't met in the present), or ask about someone who is no longer in their life. They try to use this ability to improve their quality of life.

Then they experience their own death. After months catatonic, they finally come back to themselves and vow never to use the ability again. Unfortunately, that's when they start losing time. It turns out when they went forward in time, they merely displaced themself rather than swapping, and seeing their own death is what broke their mind enough that the past self could slip in and experience the life.

The overall concept was "what if Alzheimer's is actually a form of time travel?"

Selfcest selfcest selfcest selfcest selfcest selfcest-

...sorry, I'm back.

...from the future!!!!!

Okay, fine, I guess I'll take this seriously... *sigh*

Like I said in PBP, this is a fucking phenomenal idea. It'd be difficult, but doable. They might slowly come to realize that they have the power to alter their path, and maybe the death they experienced was something dark and painful, and when they finally realize that, it becomes a struggle to figure out exactly which events led to the death. So they go and change something, jump forward in time to see how it changed the death, and each time they go forward and see the death again, it does a little more damage, frays the sanity that much more. So it becomes a race against an unraveling mind and can this death be avoided.

Until it becomes apparently, the reason the death is so dark and painful is because they kept screwing with their timeline and checking their death, which broke them more and more, and that's the cause of the horrible death.

It does sound a little like something pre-hiatus Anthy would write. Or at least, the variant I have. Which, shocking, I know, that I might be drawn to the variation that I came up with 😲

neither of which I've watched. :(
You've never been "notebooked"!?

The first time I heard about the movie was on One Tree Hill where the guys were teasing one of their own for being emotional after his girlfriend made him watch the movie. Like with Toy Story III, it was one of those moments in zeitgeist, where it was acceptable for any man to be openly emotional. On a related note, Chris Evans' acting never fails to touch me in Winter Soldier when dealing with Peggy Carter. You can see it in his eyes when she reverts.

Example from the other thread

Guy met his wife when he accidentally traveled to future. The first time they met, she knew who he was and she let him meet their kids. The next time he met her, they spent a whole day making love.

Guy eventually meets his future wife and they hit it off as she admits she once travelled into the future and met him when he was older.

It’s an odd start to the realtionship but they really do love each other and greatly enjoy ā€œfilling in the blanks.ā€ Only thing is…they haven’t had kids yet. Going to the doctor, they find husband has been struck by a strange malady that rendered him infertile.

The couple then puts the pieces together. MC got it wrong the day he first made love to his wife actually happened before he met his children. His wife and him deceived his younger self so he would help them conceive as he hadn’t become infertile till later. So wife has sex with his past self then pretends his later encounter with her happened first

A couple meet late in life, in their 50's but it's clear that they are soul mates.
His history is rather mysterious, a government scientist on top secret projects. Now he's just a school teacher, which is how they met. Sadly though, an aggressive cancer makes short work of him and she's left in her grief.
The day after her husbands funeral, a young man shows up at her door and she recognizes him instantly, fainting from the shock of seeing her husband's younger self.
When she wakes he's holding her hand on the sofa, and he hands her a letter. It's from her husband and it explains that he'd sent a message into the past to tell his younger self, when he could find the love he'd always yearned for. One of the top secret projects allowed him to travel to meet her.
This could be a beautiful May/December romance. The Time Travelers MILF.
