The Coven Est. 1774

raven

OOC: I want to play i will be waiting in the meadow in front of the cave wont someone come and play with me.

IC:

I wake to find myself iin the meadow however I have no recollection as to how I got there. Things are progressing quickly already I can sense the familiars arriving. I guess it is time to call my familiar I had hoped not to have to summon her fearing for her safety but I will need her help. As I sit down legs crossed I let my awareness slip I am flying in spirit over forests and mountains lakes and streams there she is. The place we first met in a litlle alcove in a secluded part of a forest.

"Thea it is I Raven I need your help please com to me Thea."

With my summons I see her appear a silver wolf beautiful and graceful my Thea. She is on her way so I slip my awarenes back into my body.

OOC: would someone mind playing my familiar anyone want a second character.

Fiera Parris

Fiera waited for him to sit and quiet himself, standing perfectly still, only her eyes moving to catch the slightest of movements. Striding over to his desk, for it could not be called walking - the movement seemed as if she kept tempo with a sturdily measured waltz, she perched on the edge and picked up the volume, red leather binding cracked from age and emblazoned with gold initials. Opening it, she scanned the neatly scripted lines, until she happened upon one that caught her interest.

Toi, mon désespoir et ma force,
tu as pris toute la vie que j'avais...

“You, my desire and my force, who stole all the life that I possess.”

She translated the verse into her own words with added pauses in just the right spots to make it suit her. Still caressing the parchment lovingly, she closed the book, a miniature cloud of dust rising off the pages and darting in the flickering light.

“First and foremost there is the mere fact my...desires...required someone strong of voice and dexterous of speech to be fulfilled. And besides, you already know you possess a unique quality of alliance with the forces of nature. It may not be apparent all the time, perhaps these years alone have tamed your mastery of the elements, but it remains an inseparable part of your soul.”

The whole time she was explaining to him, she waved her finger through the white hot flame of the stout beeswax candle, oblivious to the fire that licked at her skin.

"But I digress... My motives will become apparent to you with time, and I will chose when to reveal all. But there is talk - as you must well know, the villagers are insatiably verbose - of witches, and of the horrible torments they would press upon these wielders of magic if they were ever found out."

She raised the finger that had so gently caressed the flame, and stroked the side of his face in an almost maternal gesture. Her hand was still as cool as the night breeze that shuffled it's impatient feet outside the strangely carved door.

"Let's just say, the only way to escape such unjust prosecution is to point the proverbial finger in the direction of those who deserve such intolerance...”

Thea

I lay basking in the sun, the light reflecting off my sleek silver coat, watching the lazy dance of the butterflies over the flowing grass, when he summoned me. Raising my silvery head, I pricked my ears at the ethereal voice I had come to love.

"It is I Raven I need your help please come to me Thea."

He appeared in my mind’s eye for a flash of a second, and before the echo of his voice faded in my thoughts, I was on her feet. Trotting daintily to the edge of the clearing, I picked my way around the rock forms that were scattered over the landscape, mindful of the delicate pads of my black paws.

Padding over the pine needles, I picked up speed as I hear the urgency in his voice. It is nothing of dire consequences, for he is strong enough that he could summon my physical presence as well as mental if he needed. Our connection is strong, bound not only by magic, but by loyalty. Faithful companions for almost 200 years has yet to weaken our fellowship.

I knew of the young pupils he had taken as his own, but I was unsure of their knowledge of the intimate workings of a master warlock. Questioning Raven, I did not want to frighten away the newcomers or have them revere me with a look of fear in their eyes.

”Master, when shall I make my presence known?”

*A soft smile traced his kind lips...his eyes glittering with a very hidden inner amusement..listening to every word with attentive ears, a hand, softened by years of special oils used to keep the leather tomes in readable condition. grasped the finger, slowly spreading to her hand and laying it away from his face*

You read me almost as easily as I read books. Though I do not flaunt my connexion to nature as some seem to.

*he gave her a wry, very amused grin, standing he pulled a large book from one shelf, opening it slowly and flipping the pages quietly, not speaking for a long time..listening to the silence outside, and resting on the page he searched for*

I am well aware of such talks...and Intimidation is as much a factor within keeping such things from happening as someplace that is secluded is...I have felt the ripples same as you Fiera. If you want my help you will find these..Young ladies...or men...whoever they are...and bring them here. It is very simple for me to create more rooms or remove them at my leisure when I have guests.

*He dabbed his finger to his tounge and flipped the page slowly..muttering to himself as he walked over to a case, where he hid several bottles of French wine which had been given as a gift before he left for america..*

As for your motivations they -do- make me curious. But if you wish my services you must pay the price all do when they come to me. A Book of sufficent age and rarity, so that I might continue my studies.

Fiera Parris

She let out a low laugh at his demands, and the fact he trusted her enough to turn his back while she was in the room. He claimed to have more abilities then she would have otherwise assumed, but there was a large gap in the talents of natural born magic and acquired magic.

“Ah, but you miss the point. I come not pleading for your services, but offering your one chance of salvation. At least in this mortal world...”

Standing, she moved to the bookcase that dominated most of the four walls, trailing a curious finger down the spines. Some titles she recognized, some she even owned herself in a private library, but most were in strange languages bearing cryptic symbols.

He ignored her, blatantly and completely. Under the pretense of being absorbed in his work, she knew he was testing her limits. How long until she snaps?...she could almost read his thoughts. She let out a hiss in his general direction, restraining the power that was linked with such strong emotions.

“I warn you once, angering me is ill advised.”

Katy

She awoke a short time later. No longer drousey, she slowly got off of her bed and walked to her mirror. Looking at herself, she noticed she looked much better. There were no circles under her eyes now. Turning she spotted Thomas on her bed, sleeping, or at least appeared to be sleeping.
Thomas.. Wake up we must meet with the others..

Katy changed out of her dusty dress, and put on a softer velvet creation of a deep dark green. She loved the contrast it gave to her eyes and hair. She grabbed her satchel again and placed the book into it. Also stopping to pick up her swal she headed out the door with Thomas on her heels.

Before she went to see her friends, she was going back to the cave to hide the book. Picking her away along the trail she spotted Raven.

She knew she couldnt hide her pressence from him, he knew everything it seemed. She slowly approached him.

"Good afternoon Raven..I.." She let her voice trail off.. She didnt know what to say to him yet. The things she seen and felt were so odd to her at the time. She still didnt know how she wanted to respond to the things he said. She smiled at him, and stepped up a few feet from him. Turning her head she called Thomas to her side.
Thomas.. Come here please..

*He smiled and closed the book he carried, setting it down on his desk*

I am satisfied. You are impetuious as I expected, you are also impatient and easily angered. I know all I need to. Very well I will assist you. Though not for your salvation or for any others. I do not believe in such frivilous nonsense. Knowledge is power to put it quite simply. I do it for the challange of whatever it may be.

*He opened up the grand oaken case*

Do you prefer Red or white my dear? I dont usually open a bottle for uninvited guests, but I belive I will make an exception in your case. Now do calm down and quit looking daggers at me, I said I would help you, despite your veiled threats and blatent shows of Magick, so calm down before the very nature about this house begins to react. It has it's own subtle way of protecting me, as I protect it.

*He removed two well made wine glasses, setting one in her hand, and another down on the table*

Red or white dear?

*he smiled, holding up two bottles of very good years in french wines*

Thomas the Familiar

He followed Katy as she walked along, spending some time to look at the plantlife. Eventually, they came upon a man the Mistress Katy identified as Raven. Thomas looked at the man strangely, having no clue who or what the person was.

He had been about to start the age old staring competition between cats and things that struck their curiosity when his Mistress called. He moved over to her, rubbing her smooth legs with his warm, feline body.

"Yes, my mistress? Do you have a need?"

Katy

She looked down at Raven and got no responce. He was ignoring her?

yes Thomas... I need some sanity.. i dont suppose you know what a joke is do you? She grinned down at her cat, and turned back to Raven
"Well I can see you are busy, so we shall talk again soon sometime Raven.. I have many questions I need answered by you. You said something that you had been waiting for this book for a hundred years? And you were waiting for me? Something like that, I am curious as to what you meant by that? Good Day Sir."

She turned and headed through the clearing to the hidden path to the cave. lighting the candle once again she stepped inside. Walking back into the murky depths. It was chilly in this cave. Very chilly. She was silent in thought. A little confused at this whole thing. And where Raven came from. She reached the back of the cave where she had earlier placed things they needed in here. Taking out her new robe she looked at it. If she wore this for casting, everyone would be able to see her body through it. She had to decide if she wanted something underneath it or not. It wasnt meant to be worn alone. The fabric was thin and it shone in the light. Almost naughty, if you asked Katy. Putting the robe back into the sack, she sat down on the floor and pulled out the book. Carefully setting the candle next to her, she wanted to read some of the things in this book.
Thomas.. does a protection spell really work? Do you know? i am very curious about some of these things in this book... Here there is one to heal people.. just need certain herbs and something called mudwort?
She flipped through the book until she came to herbs, and found mudwort's description. Now that was an odd herb? Shrugging her shoulders she read further.
It says here that when casting you must be very careful to not upset the balance of things.. and to use magic for good never bad, but using it to protect yourself is ok..This book is confusing Thomas.

OOC don't mean to short change the night but feel it's time to wake up...

IC

it was a strange feeling as we grew together, knowing each other as if all our lives and simply never having met. The bond grew as we explored each other. His shy tentative touch only bolstered my need. It was only when dawn's early rays spilled into my bedroom that I realized we had spent the night touching and learning. I glanced towards my balcony and when I looked back a large black hawk rested in my bed. I yawned as I was tired but forced myself to get out of bed. I gently told him to rest as I washed and dressed for the day. I looked tired, I sighed, today Katy would need me and I began searching for the things we would require.

Raven

As I re-enter my body I see Katy heading towards the cave. Of all the timing I hope she didnt talk to me I dont want her to think I ignored her. Ohh well Thea should be here in a few hours and she would help me sort out the confusion. I close my eyes once more and send a single thought to Thea, "Come to me at night in the form of a woman do not hesitate to make yourself known."

Now to go and fix things with Katy. I appear in front of the cave and just stand there watching as the gorgeous young girl wearing an almost translucent nighty reads the book. I can tell that the cat notices me. Once more I send my mind out, "Ow loyal familiar sworn to the aid of its master I am honored to be in your presence," I recite the age old greeting and then add, "I am Raven descended from the first and known by our society as the one who lives in the shadows."

With my introduction done it is time to address Katy but how. "Katy it is I Raven, I apologize for the other night and for earlier. When you just saw me I was in a trance communicating over miles to my most loyal companion she will be here later tonight and is named Thea she is like your cat and can assume the form of a wolf the only difference is she chooses when to change she can be either wolf or human at will rather then by the sun or moon." I see the cat sit straight up I dont need to reed his thoughts in order to know what he is thinking, how, "She has been with me for two hundred years and has absorbed some of my powers enough to control her transformations and a little more. Anyway I am ready to answer your questions now, ask and I shall do my best to answer."

Thomas the Familiar

"Mistress Katy, I can not think of a suitable joke for this occasion. And a protection spell will work, but it may only protect against a certain thing. Don't worry, my mistress, I will help."

He was about to try and ease her troubles when a man appeared. The first thing he did was to enter Thomas's mind. The cat hissed, and arched his back, extending his claws. He had no right! He thought of lauching himself at the man when Raven had begun speaking to the Familiars mistress.

He began to speak, and Thomas let himself relax, until something the man said surprised him, causing him to sit up straight. He then went on about how his Familiar could change form at will, but Thomas ignored him. He knew a spell his mistress could cast that could have him change at anytime. And since he had no plans to leave her side, he didn't care what the arrogant magician said about that.

Instead, he was focusing on the use of the pronoun 'she'. A female Familiar? A small shake ran down his body. He'd never met another Familiar before, much less a female one. He wondered what it would be like to be with another Familiar, and a wolf no less! He padded over to Kat, and rubbed against her. It was surely only mild curiousity. He had a mistress who enjoyed him, he had no need to seek any others. He let out a soft purr, and rubbed his head against hers.

Fiera Parris

She knew she had already impressed upon him the ease and intimateness that she connected with her magic, and the easy slip in thought pattern from dominant enchantress to your average village gossip proved the simplicity of fitting in, rather than drawing attention to ones self.

Turning down his offer of wine with a dismissive wave of her hand, she moved towards the door. She didn’t know if he expected her to disappear in a melodramatic puff of smoke or leave ringlets of fire behind at each footstep, both of which effects she had the ability to create, but she preferred doing things the...’old fashioned’...way. Flaunting a talent was a good way to get you in trouble with the nosey town types.

He was too self-assured, and by leaving him hanging...no pun intended...like this, without answers to his questions or a companion with which to share his wine, she hoped to assert once again that he was merely filling a necessary role, and that any other could fufill her needs just as well. A servant, if you will.

“You’ll know when the time is right...when I may call upon you for assistance. If you need to reach me, I live a mere stones throw from the town common. The house is -recognizable-, to say the least. But for now...I have far more important duties which require my attention.”

Thea

I followed a winding deer path, the angle of each tree and barely noticeable scars in the ground foliage serving as my only direction. A flicker of wind ruffled the leaves silhouetted against a barren, cloudless sky, as well as the velveteen fur lining my back. Carrying with it was the pungent scent of rabbit, and I had to mentally restrain myself from breaking away from my task at hand to dart over the open moores to chase the pray that presented itself behind a screen of pine and oak.

Recently a change had come over me. Most of my time was spent in lupine form, rather than the human female shape I could take on at my will. The cries of the native pack roaming over their land called to me with an alluring draw. But I would never leave my master, and as he much more preferred me in my womanly form I wouldn’t disappoint him.

The sun settled lower in a comfortable position between late afternoon and dusk, as I made my way through the thickets and briars, keenly sensing Raven nearer than before.

Katy

She eyed Ravin, but remained quiet for a moment. Softly petting Thomas, biding her time looking for the right questions she wanted to know.
"now tell me again what Me and the Book have to do with you.. I want to understand fully everything.. You say you have waited for the book to call you, and you've been waiting for me? i am confused here please tell me once more in easier terms to undertand.."
She pulled thomas up into her lap and rubbed behind his ears to calm him down.
sleep Thomas.. its alright..
She would listen to him.. but it didnt mean she would go along with it..

Thomas the Familiar

He gave a small yawn, and buried his tawny feline head into his mistress. He curled his bodyd in her lap, and nestled into her body's warth. All was good. All was calm.

"As you wish."

He gave Katy a mental caress, and closed his eyes. Purring softly, he allowed himself to nod off.

*He said nothing till she was at the door, walking out and holding a glass of red wine, sipping at it slowly and giving her a curious smile, his eyes glinting softly*

As you say. Oh...and do yourself a Favour...stop being so aloof, or you might find a large army of villagers at your door armed with a bit more than just torches and fear of the unnatural.

*He gave a jovial wink, his eyes glinting, He could take hits as well as make them. And had the ability to do just that, there were enough farming families who owed him one or two...ah but he digressed, he waved softly to her as she stepped outside his door*

Next time you intend to visit -do- send some warning so I might prepare a meal of some sort. It is most rude not to accomedate guests.

*And with a bow he walked away from the door, it remained open for a moment, then a breeze wafted by and shut it gently, though he was no where to be seen inside the door. Just then a great gust of wind came up and caused several loose leaves to fly past her harmlessly, leaving a curious smell in their wake..*

*He walked back into his study, setting down the glass of red wine and picked up where he left off in the book, completely unpreturbed. She would obviously return, and he truely cared not for her vaunted bragging and Indolent manner. But then again, such creatures were great fun to deal with most of the time. Oh he did enjoy fall..*

Fiera

Men. Why must they always consider themselves superior in all facets? Do they all think themselves immune from a woman’s powers, or, in that case, her own natural charm?

It was no wonder her husband of 39 an son of 11 had so tragically ‘wandered off’ that fateful blizzardy winter day. It was clear to see she despised any who tried to control - or had the potential to control - her thought, feelings, and inner self in general.

Smiling eerily in the shifting moonlight, she entertained herself on the trek home by making figures and shadows out of the clouds she sent skittering across the moon’s melancholy face.

Katy

Katy got irritated with his silence, he just was not helping her at all to understand anything he was saying. Looking down into her lap she seen Thomas was napping on top of the book. Smiling at the sight, she continued to stroke his fur.

"Raven? I have to go meet with machenzie. Why dont we all meet here before dark and you can explain it to us all. You have something on your mind anyways. Since you need to summon your Familiar and get things for you in motion, We'll meet back here later ok?" She stood with Thomas in one hand and the book in the other. Placing the book into her satchel, she headed out of the cave. (she never put on the robe)

Katy made her way to Machenzie's house and knocked on the door. waiting for her to answer. She needed to summon all the girls but how?
Then she got an idea.
Thomas.. can you talk to other witches? Can you go get Sara, Dusty and Adian?

She wasnt sure if she was the only one who could hear Thomas's thoughts.

mackenzie

I felt better than I looked as I opened the door to see Katy and ushered her in and we walked through the house to garden. I yawned as I told her I'd started drying some of them but couldn't recall which needed to be fresh. I also showed her an old sack I had filled with little things the cave would need.

Katy

She was let in by Machenzie, Katy followed her through the house and out the back door to the garden.
"You ok Mac? You look a little tired?"
Katy was worried about her friend, she sat down on a bench and looked around to see if anyone was near to them. Thomas sat on the bench next to her. Machenzie's garden was beautiful this time of year. She really enjoyed sitting in it.
Katy pulled out the book and handed it to Machenzie.
"There is alot of things in this book that are helpful, there is a section on herbs and such. I think we should write down some more notes out of the book so we can safely hide this away."
Katy smiled at machenzie and seen the dark circles under her eyes. Her smile faded a little, why did she look so tired?
"I guess I should tell you now, This is my new pet, well guess you cant call him a pet, its my Familiar.. I named him Thomas."
He came to me last night.. She wasnt sure how much she should tell machenzie about last night.

*Just then, as if on cue a large hawk flies into the cave, though normally night creatures, he perched on mac's shoulder easily, he didnt seem to wiegh anything at all to her, he blinked benignly at her friend, his eyes curious*

katy

occ: Rolland dear we arent in a cave but Mac's garden.

oc: Katy nearly jumped out of her skin when this huge bird landed on Machenzie's shoulder.

"What is that Mac?"

ooc: alright sorry about my lack of posting there has been a death im my family

Raven

No patience here I am trying to think of the easiest way to tell her what is going on and she walks away this shall not do. I can sense Thea only an hour away how I miss her and long for her. Now to end the questions.

"Translocate," I am in a house modest but nice in it is katy and mac with their familiars before they have a chance to speak I silence them and beggin to tell them why i am here.

"I am here because the book is in your hands Katy it is important to know that YOU DID NOT find the book it found you. I am here for three reasons the first is to teach you how to use your powers to their full potential, the second is to protect you until you have your powers mastered and the third is to add my powers to yours in order to cast a spell unlike all others. The entire reason the book found you is this spell the reason the familiars have come and so many talented girls in one place is all for the spell. This spell will change the way humans think and feal. Prejudice and fear of others because they are different or unknow will no longer exist. Magic will be brought back to this land in all its wonder and without fear. Magical beings now extinct will walk once more on the land such as sprites, dryads, unicorns and nymphs. This spell has been tried before and been unsuccesful taking with it the lives of those who have tried to cast it. However where they have failed we shall succeed."
