I’m sure there’s a similar feature on most social media sites. Gives you an idea of how much attention your posts get. On other social media, I would guess it would influence one’s ability to monetize posting.

I think if a thread is removed, those reactions are still counted in the larger number, but not in the smaller one. (that's my theory)
