The Cozy Corner

[Dayhoosier]

What are you giggling about over there?

You know what?

That's an incredible question....and I don't know the answer.

But I did just walk the dogs and let's just say the rice and lasagna noodles are making em their way through their systems

[Apisto42]

Did I enjoy dinner? Yes
Do I have a HEAVY buzz from bourbon? Also yes
What does this mean to this thread? I do not know yet ..... But umm maybe don't read any DMs from me tonight

I mean, at least you were drinking good bourbon. And who isnt guilty of sending a few (dozen) inappropriate pm after a bourbon night?

[Dayhoosier]

What was for dinner?

I had crab cakes plus my daughter's leftover coconut shrimp

And how much bourbon?

Two

I hope we get a follow up on the DM situation.

Do you

Do it. Do it. You know you want to.

Two regular pours? Or “father of an employee” special heavy pours?

[CJamarous]

Damn! 7 pages worth since this morning?! Not even going to try to go back and read it all How's everyone's Friday night treating them?

The latter ....they're good to me there

night is good here
drinks, belly full and FINALLY relaxing

how's yours going?

[peekingone]

I'll just put a lawyer on retainer before we start playing

I'll accept the loss and feel ok the next day

Can't ask for a better Friday night than that! Glad you've finally got your feet up! What was for dinner?

Had a good day here. Got the house somewhat back in order after being gone at work for my two days, got some food prep done, one of the twins had a PT appointment, I hard boiled some eggs which the kids then colored, my son and I went and got haircuts, we went to the evening Good Friday church service and then pizza and a movie for dinner with the family. Now trying to rock one of the twins back to sleep lol

Sounds like a very productive evening!!

Dinner was chicken fettuccini alfredo and salad
I also made raspberry syrup for a special cocktail tomorrow and started a new jug of vanilla extract
then I prepped egg bake for our "Easter morning" tomorrow

Mmmm nice! Chicken Alfredo is always a good option! What kind of cocktail are you making? You make your own vanilla extract?! That's awesome. So you're celebrating your Easter tomorrow? Lots of family coming over?

So glad it was a good day!!

I'm doing a copycat of a 'brunch punch' we had last weekend - fresh squeezed OJ, vodka, raspberry syrup and a splash of Sprite
I do make my own vanilla extract - it's easy to do and so good!
We're just doing our family Easter tomorrow, the 4 of us. My oldest leaves for a trip early Sunday morning so we're just doing it a day early. No big family get together this year which is kind of nice

Well that sounds delicious and way to easy to drink

Ummm recipe? (Vanilla Extract and Eggbake) Pretty please?

That actually sounds like it will be a very nice, quiet way to spend Easter. Sometimes the chaos of extended family gatherings can be skipped once in awhile. Plus you get that time with your daughter before she leaves for her trip. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!

There was a lot of drama around this holiday so my SIL said screw it and we're not doing it which I fully support - I'm looking forward to the weekend!

Vanilla extract... grab a bottle of vodka and pour a little into a glass for yourself to make room for the vanilla beans... add vanilla beans. You can either split them the long way or just cut into thirds. I use 1/4 pound of vanilla beans to a 1.75 jug of vodka - I let mine sit for a year and swish every once in a while, but it should be ready to use as soon as a month

hold tight for the egg bake recipe!

MWP's "it's better than it sounds" egg bake

Ingredients:

• 2 cups Minute Rice, cooked according to package directions
• 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
• 1 lb pork sausage
• 1 onion, chopped
• 16 oz shredded cheese
• 7 eggs
• 2 cans cream of celery soup

Instructions:
Grease a 13x9-inch baking dish and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage and chopped onion until the sausage is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs, then mix in both cans of cream of celery soup until well combined.

Assemble the casserole:
Layer half of each of the following into the prepared dish:

• Cooked rice
• Rice Krispies cereal
• Sausage and onion mixture
• Shredded cheese

Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
Pour the egg and soup mixture evenly over the top.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.

To Bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Bake, covered, for 45 minutes, or until heated through and set.

Absolutely sounds like the right call was made there! The drama isn't worth it!

That sounds super easy! Where do you order the beans from in that volume? I wonder, could you do it in a Bourbon instead? I do love bourbon infused vanilla anything.

[Nylonian]

As an introvert, I just had to socialise for 4 hours and now I am depleted... Why is it so much easier to talk to you lovely people?

I get my vanilla beans from Amazon

You could totally make extract with bourbon instead of vodka. You also don't need to make as big of a batch as I do - @Dayhoosier makes smaller amounts at a time - he might have good smaller bean to liquid ratios for you

Because you don't have to look at us

But actually kinda?

Rice and rice crispies in an egg bake?! That's wild! But I will try anything once! And I'm going to try it! Thank you, Ma'am

1.75... For the Australians in the room, is... is that gallons?

I agree with Hoosier here
you don't have to actually open your mouth and talk to us
you're not put on the spot here... we're texting, you have moments to think before you post
it all matters

Oh no. I like the looking part. It's just the rapid-fire expecting me to have an insightful take on everything part...
