The Cozy Corner

My dad did some electrical work around my sister's house recently and used a tool he called a Sissy Stick to test if the wire was live.

Apparently it's unmanly to take appropriate steps to avoid electrocuting oneself just in case you were wondering why men don't live as long šŸ™„

I’ve used Sissy Sticks when hiking…..they must work as I’ve never been hit by lightning. āš”ļø

Manly men bounce a screwdriver against it to see if it sparks, and how far…see also fun with car batteries…

This has been A Man Service announcement

Well, for the really, really, really big stuff the stick is very much a real tool… but that’s more of a ā€œI know it’s live and if it sparks anything too close by will vaporizeā€ than a ā€œis it liveā€ sort of thing.

We don’t do the best job teaching young men (or anyone tbh) about what is genuinely dangerous with electricity. That and magnets. Magnets are absolutely terrifying when they get in the wrong places

I'm going this weekend so I'll be sure to recommend it. 🤣
Best of luck to you on rolling sixes

I thought Manly Men flew a kite at night during a thunderstorm with a key attached? 🤣

My wife has been miserable at her job for months. A week and a half ago she received a job offer from a different company. Higher pay, much better benefits, and most importantly, less miserable people to work for. There were a few things that had to happen before she could give notice to her current company, but she was finally able to give her two-weeks yesterday. Last night she slept soundly through the night for the first time in a long time. Today is a gonna be a good day.
This is really lovely to hear ā¤ļø
Being miserable at work is absolutely crap.

So happy for both you and your wife šŸ˜

Oh i remember them all!
I've had a few scenes missing from time to time 🤦

I don't even want to know the trouble you can get into with magnets

Of course I do

Oh…… well the most horrifying magnet stuff tends to involve someone/something accidentally eating two at once, or one magnet breaking apart after being eaten. To be minimally graphic: intestines do not like being pinched, nor do they stop trying to move stuff around when being pinched…

That and there’s just how insanely fast a powerful magnet can get, even over a short distance. Most of the time not much happens, but really powerful magnets are usually very very brittle, and if they hit something hard (or hit each other, which they will do incredibly hard and very suddenly) they can just detonate and spray out magnetic shards like little bullets

The real life lesson: don’t worry too much about your fridge magnets, but make sure they are big enough that no one in the house will eat them.

Life lesson two: swallowing a magnet (even just one) is a ā€œgo to the ER nowā€ situation
