The Cozy Corner

My last annual evaluation, I just smiled and stayed quiet. I'm not one to rock the boat at work. Especially when my boss was telling me my work over the last year was satisfactory. Lol
It is all 100% dependant on the type of relationship you have at work but I tend to stay in your approach. Lol I keep my head down and clock in do my thing the best I can and clock out.

They have this thing here where the management "rounds" with their subordinates. I appreciate the reasoning behind keep I finger on the pulse of your workers morale and general mental well-being but what happens after I clock out is my business just the same as what happens on the clock is not discussed at home lol. My answer to them is always "fine. I'm fine. Everything is fine. "😂😂

I wouldn't go that far 🤣
I wouldn't be able to hold my tongue lol. They would have gotten my two cents worth and then they would have said "well it's part of your job requirements" and I would have said "okay, well I can either be honest with you or lie to you and tell you I'll be better about reading my emails" 😆

I firmly believe Emails have destroyed the workplace and talk about waste? Time suck? Productivity killer?

Yeah, fuck right off emails lol
Totally.

I'm inundated with them.

Errors anywhere in my network and I get an alert. Process fails, alert. Website down, alert. Ticket created, updated, closed, alert alert alert. Brute force attack on the network. Yawn. Alert. 😂😂😂

Exactly! It's shocking the networks and systems don't crash from the unnecessary amount of emails alone! 😆

That's my approach. Get my assigned duties done. Don't complain much and leave work behind me the second I'm off the clock.

Just as a curiosity, how did your boss respond to your comments about emails being a waste of time?

(Which they often are)

TBF there is a really good reason to reduce the number of emails
The energy the data centres need to operate is crazy.

Think of the environment people (and more importantly, my sanity) before you send me another pointless email 🤣

Well I work in Fire & EMS so its not like the business or IT world where there are far more emails going out daily. But of all our emails, I would say maybe 10% actually matter and are necessary in reading to complete my job. Like you, I also like to simply show up, do my job, go home and leave work at work until I get back. They essentially admit that there is a lot of fluff, but that it's still my responsibility to sift through the fluff to make sure I don't miss the important stuff. Oh, so they're admitting most of it is all bullshit and simply creating busy work. Lol.

Amen sister! Preach!

Okay, I don't go back to work until Wednesday and I'm already annoyed at the amount of emails that will surely be waiting for me to go through when I get there....time for a music dump and better things than work emails 😆
