The Crystal Kingdom

OOC: The guy, that was following the sage, that she's talking to now? Lawerence doen't know him, so he calls him her 'Shadow' because he was 'shadowing', or 'following' her. Got it?

OOC; sorry, I;m unconcious, flung over a hourse. I can't do anthing untill some time passes. Echem... hint hint

Lord Dark Talon

He walks Over to Mure Or what ever its name is And takes is Canten And pures WHater On the unconses person.

"Couch, Hach, Spurt" Meru woke up with a start, a little disoriented. "Wha-what's going on?" she asked, looking around.

They were riding. Where? no idea. Her helmet was turned off, and the glass visor was up. The battlesene was nowhere in sight. In fact, they were out of the forest alltogether. "So your finally awake" the dragoon said, only barely glancing at her,

"Huh?" She adjusted herself so she was sitting proporly on the hourse. "Hey, where's Arti? HEY ARTI!" she called into the air. She put her hands to her lips and whistled, very loudly. After a moment, when nothing happened, she whistled again. By this time she was getting nurvous. Arti could allways hear her when she called, so this was very odd.

No longer caring about the others, only her bird, she turned on her helmet and pulled up an antenna from one of the ear wings. Inside the visor, which only she could see, a Grid appeared overlapping the landscape. Various informations such as hight, speed and temperature came up which she ignored. The radar on the left showed 4 signals in the center, herself and companions, but nothing else. "Arti, Where are you!? please, answer me?" She was getting histerical and started crying.

someone slapped her. "Get a hold of yourself" that someone said. "Your bird is probably fine, we'll find it later."

slowly she did calm down. "your probably right" she lied, hoping to salvage whatever she could of her secret truth, Hoping noone notices, she pushed the antenna back down to hide amongst the feathers of the earpiece. Pushing up the visor, she wiped her eyes with her red sash and rode on.

Garret looked at the little faery in utter awe. At first he simply looked at the beans, maybe he had planted two instead of one. Then he looked back at his own bags, maybe he had drunk a couple of bottles of ale or something. Finally he ran his fingers through his hair, looking for bumps or bruises. Could that dragon have hit him harder than he thought.
It turned out none of those were true? He glanced back at the thing sitting on his shoulders. Well, at least she didn't look crazy. Furrowing his brow he stepped over to his knapsack. Rummaging through he picked up a small piece of bread, handing it to the little thing. Grabbing his gear, he quickly settled off.
"So," he wasn't sure how to even begin talking to this creature. The only thing he really understood in her story was Garret and her name. Aeneke. Interesting name, but then again she was an interesting faery.
"So," he repeated, "Was this in some sort of kid's story I never got to read? Maybe something little gypsies tell you to get away from their tents or something?"
He waved at the thing with his hand, seeing that it had finished the piece of bread.
"Look, if your trying to sell me something, forget it. I'm not interested. I need to walk half the night to find some old house. Could you please go back to whoever it is that's your master and leave me alone."
He walked on, turning his back to the flying faery.

Ariana called to Lawrence "now hold on one damn minutte. Your not leaving without me. You wouldn't even know where to look. I need to find out what the hell this guy is doing here so stay put" then then turned back to Aidan " So, what are you doing here?"

Aneke

Aneke pouted and flew after the human hovering in front of him "This is not a story it's true and if you don't come see my master all will be lost. What can it hurt? If anything you get to meet an attractive woman. Yep my master is a woman who is famous for her beauty. Now come Outworlder. She needs your help, aren't you the least bit curious" she crossed her arms sighing softly, "and we must hurry she is in danger even as we speak"

Lawerence

He turned, knocking the now conscious woman off his horse. He'd liked her better when she was unconscious. She looked like an angel when she slept. But when awake, she took to yelling in his ear and fiddling with her helmet like a jester on a battlefield.

He gave the Sage a cross look. "I'm not sitting around, waiting for the enemy to gut me so you can talk to your boyfriend! He's got a horse, bring 'im along and get in gear! At least he won't have to hide himself when he follows anymore!"

He grumbled, and turned back around, the warhorse moving away from the dragoon and a very annoyed-looking woman. He pulled a peice of parchment from his pack, rereading it.

Dear Lawerence,

We, the Kingdom of Crystalia, ask you do do a favour of the highest order for us. Since your last visit, of nearly twenty years ago, a crisis has arisen. We ask that you, on of the strongest in the outerlands, and a veteran adventurer, help to guide and protect the Sage of Spirit through the Lands you know so well. The Sage shall be on a quest to collect the other Sage's in order to save the world from the Dark Riders. We realize that you are a busy person, what with the many quests and adventures you take on, but we feel that you will help us, since the quest is of such importance and includes a lot of danger . Our need is great, will you help us?

It was signed in such fancy handwriting that even he, who had grown up in the castle of Tarten, his father being head of the Homeguard, couldn't make heads or tails of it. The message had come by way of a young page he had meet when he had lost himself in that strange land. That page was now an older messanger. He grunted. It didn't say a word about the Sage being a pain-in-the-ass. Even he had his limits. He'd put his life on the line for any cause that came his way, but he would not deal with some mere child who wanted to sit around inviting the enemy to kill her. Even the old toad of a Queen would listen to him when he told her something. He'd been fighting all his life, to the death, and here he stood. He pulled the braid over his shoulder again.

He was a Yeoman warrior, not some servant! Nevertheless, he gave Shan a prod, and the horse came to a stop, tossing his head.

Aidan seemed to be giving her the silent treatment not speaking instead just looking at her. Throwing up her hands in dispair she turned to Lawrence. "I have had enough of you! I did not come here to be treated as a child, which I am not!" she turned back to Aidan "I don't know why you aren't speaking but I am leaving, if you wish to come then do so but if you get yourself in trouble it's not on my hands!" with that said she turned her horse and took off at a gallop towards the direction where the sage awaited.

Lawerence

He almost threw his hands up in dispair. Not a child? She was certainly a child, just standing there when he informs her the enemy is on their tail because she needs to speak with her 'Shadow'. Then, she throws a fit at everything he did. He was in his late forties for God's sake! He wasn't going to put up with this craziness. She certainly was a child, especially in his eyes.

When she finally got movin, Shan easilly kept pace, a few feet behind and to the left. Domicus once again took point, moving out into the lead so as not to spook her horse. Lawerence just sat in the saddle, polishing his staff, and glaring at the cut in it.

He hoped she'd lead them to a town at some point. Or at least let them set camp near a river. The animals were covered in blood, and so was he. She didn't look any better.

After a few minutes, he spoke up. "How old are you? Twenty? Twenty-one, perhaps? I'm over double your age, and that means I have the right to treat you as a child, because to me, you are a child. You may be able to fight, but how many people have you killed before today? When was the last time you fought to the death against an enemy that could put up a real fight? That last attack was to test us for enemies that outnumber us, but don't pose a threat."

He grunted. "Next time, they'll test our skill. Against someone who can equal you. Someone who's not afraid to die. Someone who's willing to be killed, no questions asked."

"An enemy who fears nothing, and is willing to die, is an enemy to be feared. Just ask the men I've killed, they'll tell you. And how much longer is this going to take? It's already dusk."

It was true, the sun was beging to set.

Ariana sighed "you complain to much, I do wish you would stop your belly aching. For your information I am 23 years of age, I have faught and won many battles in my homeland. I have also killed countless men who have threatened Crystalia. I am not afraid to die for what I believe in and right now I believe that you have better stop complaining or Shut up!" staring strait ahead she recognized the clearing from her vision. This is where Aneke would bring her sage, if she was correct this clearing was close to Edilan , near the mountain pass where the sage would travel, he should reach there in one day at the most. Nodding with satisfaction she stopped her horse and dismounted. She then led her horse to a near by stream "I am going to bath, you may set up camp here" then without waiting for a reply she walked further downstream to a point where she was surrounded in brush and out of prying eyes. Stripping quickly she murmured a quick incantation and her clothes were once again mended she then took them over to the river to soak and wash. The mages in her land had taught her a few minor spells such as this. She could also heal minor wounds and cast a low level ball of energy. Her Spirit magic was yet to be awakened so she would settle for these. Wading into the water she began washing and relaxing in the cool refereshing water.

Lawerence

He sighed. He gathered up some dry sticks and a little kindling, along with several large stones. He turned some soil, ripping up the grass in a small circle. He set the stone in a circle, piling the sticks and kindling in the circle of stone. He reached into his pack, and pulled out some flint. He drew his sword, and stuck the flint on it, using the resulting sparks to light to kindling, which quickly made a small fire, using the sticks as fuel. Domicus ran to and fro, picking up more fuel for the fire as Lawerence removed his gear from Shan, leaving the horse bare. He then lumbered off, and returned with a large log, giving a few kicks to remove bugs from it. He gave a few more kicks, just to releive some tension, and set the log a few feet from the fire, moving down to the stream.

He stayed far away from where the Sage had gone, and merely sat down, removing his right gauntlet, and filling it with some water, which he drank. The blasted woman had gone downstream, and he'd have to wait for her to return before he could wash the blood of him and the animals. He sighed, and removed her gear, setting it down next to the log. He reached into his own pack, and pulled out a brush, and went to grooming her horse. He took care, moving slow. He couldn't groom Shan until he was clean. He checked her horses hooves and shoes before looking at the horse.

"Why couldn't the blasted woman go upstream? At least then I could give Shan and Domicus a proper cleaning without worrying that I'd dirty the river too much for her. Bah. Shows what brains I've got. If I'd had a lick of sense, I would have gone, and hunted down these 'Dark Riders' by myself, let the Sage fend for herself."

He looked up at the mountians, and grumbled. "And now, we're smack dap in the middle of orc country, making camp in the shadow of mountains that used to belong to the Yeomen."

He grunted as the sounds of creatures blundering about in the woods reached his ears. He turned, drawing his sword. "Bah. And here comes the ugly brigade now."

Meru jumped up when he mentioned the brigade (Yes, she is still here). Checking her helmet she confirmed that there were indeed a number of people approaching. This was going to be tough. She didn't have her bird so she'll have to rely on face to face combat. Damn. Her sisters were allways better at the face to face deal. Everytime they sparred, Meru was the one to call it quits first, and that was because she was never making any progress with them. (they were too good). Well, no time to think about that now, here they come.

She drew her ice saber, and extended it out so the blade was sticking strait out from her chest, her left palm went to the hilt. It was a typical short sword stance that allowed quick reaction to any attack from any angle. She slowly backed up towared the stream in the process.

Garret took one look at the thing. Somehow, it didn't seem like an innocent little faery anymore. Something was weird by how she was trying to convince him so badly to go with her?
"Look," he knew these woods were filled with creatures, and what she was pulling was the oldest trick in the book. Anyhow he sat down taking a piece of bread from out his knapsack. Letting her have another piece, he ate it heartily.
"I know this trick. They get some weird talisman thing to lead the unsuspecting boy to a lonely field where he gets ambushed. I've heard the stories, they promise him some hot girl when in fact a clan of ogres or something is waiting."
He took another bite of the bread.
"It's not that I don't trust you, it's just I have no reason to. I just met you three minutes ago, and you are already talking about destinies and crystals and fire. If I were really part of a destiny wouldn't I have been born of pure blood or something?"
He got up, brushing the crumbs from off his tunic, "Look, just leave me alone. I have a bunch of orcs to go kill."

Ariana's senses became hightened when she recognized the sound of people in the forest. Orcs to be exact, hurrying out of the river she got dressed once again clean. She murmured an incantation and was dry immediatly. She would have to thank the Mages at home for this. Taking her fans she flicked them open and headed cautiosly towards the sound.

Aneke :

Aneke would have stomped her foot if she wasn't in midair. "I'm telling the truth here damn it" then a thought came to her what about that truth mirror spell she had learned earlier? She could show him Ariana and he would see for himself. "if you don't believe me then watch this" she floated down in front of him and began the spell. A type of window appeared cloudy, then it cleared to show a beautiful woman climb naked out of the river and quickly get dressed. Aneke blushed "guess I caught her at a bad time" then she giggled mischeivously "she's going to kill me when she finds out about this" then woman in the window grabbed a pair of metalic fans and headed towards the woods. "see she senses danger. Now do you believe me?"

Lawerence

OOC: Whatever happen to being able to have a fight without everyone joinin' in?

IC:

And here they came, big, ugly, and smelly. Domicus laid down next to the fire, covering his nose with his paws and whining. Shan went over, and kept the mare from bolting.

Lawerence grumbled. Orcs were stupid, immune to magic, and most likely would pass on by without a word. Unfotunately for them, he was in a bad mood. And he was gonna take his rage out on their smelly green hides.

He jumped into the brush, running towards the stench of death and less pleasant things. He finally came across them, nearly seven feet tall, they were covered in fur and bone armore, with a little metal thrown in to hold it all together. There were twelve of them, with four sheilders. The sheilders were covered in a cylindar-like armor covered in spikes, two great one-fourth circle sheilds, one on each arm. Their heads were covered in great half circle spiked helmets which covered all the top of the cylindar of armor except their big, toad-like eyes. They were in pairs, each pair growing, training together, knowing each others moves by heart. Their were three hatchet throwers, two greataxe carrying morons, one lancer, one very ugly orc carrying several scythes, and,....a shaman?

It was bigger than the others, nearly eight feet tall, a golden helmet with great antlers on it. It had a simple bronze breastplate, easy to deflect arrows, bad against swords. It had its right eye missing, and a metal covering reached down from the helmet, a single spike rising out, as if to match the glare on it's hideous face. The worst part was the braids. Hundreds, hanging from the shoulders, making a cape down its back, hanging from the belt. It was covered in Yeoman braids! Lawerence was at the height of rage.

It carried a large, sword, and carried what would take both Lawerence's hands to lift with a single hand. It's black blade gleamed in the dying light of the sun. Lawernce vowed to avenge his people.

Unfortunetly, Meru was afraid of orcs. A couple charger her, and all she could to was barely block attacks and back up. When she was in the middle of the stream, she was crying. But the orcs persued on. Crying in anguish, She pulled the only special attack that came to mind.

ICE SHIELD!

meru slashed her sword in an arc from under water to over her head. the trail of water that picked up imedietly froze in a semi arc. She repeated this process from different angles untill she had a dome of ice surrounding herself, over a foot thick.

The angry orcs attacked the hard candy in rage, trying to get to the chewy center. Inside, Meru curled up in fear.

Aiden

Aiden rode in on his horse sword drawn. He saw Meru in her ice shield being assaulted by a few of the orcs. With four quick slashes the Orcs were laying on the ground shroud with pain. Ariana ran up behind him.

"Aiden?"

The look in Aidens eyes was one of both love and sadness.

"You just left, you didn't even say goodbye. I couldn't just let you leave."

The conversation was cut short due to the current orc infestation.
Aiden gave a half smile nd charged in.

Garret looked at the mirror in disbelief. It just seemed like the more she wanted him to believe, the more he didn't trust her. Things were tough around this world as it is, he wasn't going to believe in old stories and destiny and crap like that.
His eyes widened as he saw the scene. Instantly he drew closer to the mirror, looking with some interest. What kind of spell was this? He wanted to know how to do it. His magic wasn't that good though, only able to make cantations every now and then.
"Ok," somehow he was letting his other head do the talking, "Let's say that what you are saying is true, what makes you think I'm going to follow you anyway? She looks like a competent girl. She can handle things herself. I've got a life too you know, I'm going right now in search for treasure."
Sighing, he looked at the mirror once more, "Why are you coming to me now? If I'm some chosen one, why do you wait until I'm fully grown and already into my life before summoning me? Where were you when my parents died? Where were you when I forced to live in the streets and steal for my dinner?"
He looked at her, knowing she couldn't answer those things, "Look, I have better things to do with my time then help some pretty lady."
(hee hee, I'm not going easy...)

Ariana frowned at Aidan and was surprised at the look in his eyes. Was that.. no it couldn't be. Shaking her head she took headed into battle against the Orcs.

Aneke:

"Damn you idiotic Outworlders with your logic!" Aneke muttered her eyes narrowing "Look she needs all the sages together to raise enough power to save the world from evil. She alone is not strong enough. That spell alone would kill her, she needs all the sages, you being the sage of fire. Please help her" Aneke frowned, was she actualy begging an outworlder? Had she sunk so low? "Damn" she cursed unladylike. "The sage of spirit had to be trained and the time had to be right to awaken the crystals. Please we need your help. Without you the world is doomed" looking at him pleadingly Aneke continued to repeat to herself 'I'm doing this for Ariana, I'm doing this for Ariana' then 'damn outworlders!"

Lawerence

OOC: Okay, could someone explain how a group of Orcs, that I had to go out and find, got to camp? I mean, I went out, found them, and yet, they still didn't know I was there. How in Eris's name did that miracle happen? I have to go out and find them, and you get to have them come to you? Could I get a little realism, please?

IC:

Now all of a sudden, Orcs were everywhere. What was going on? It didn't matter, none of the twelve he had spotted were busy with the others. Apparently another group of, oh,....10 orcs were busy fiddling with them.

He didn't care. Domicus just lay there, and Shan kept the other horse from bolting, which was becoming a harder job then expected.

Lawerence gave the Vengence call of Terislie's Royal Guard, and leapt into battle. The first swing of his sword sliced through the neck of the lancer, seperating his head from his shoulders. The body fell, the head spinning to the ground, as blood gushed out, trying to cover everything. He sliced through the gut of a htchet thrower, disappearing back into the brush just in time to dodge the hatchets thrown at him. The sound of intestines greeted his ears just as scythes started to cut through the brush.

He tried to dodge, but one grazed his arm, creating a cut which immediately began to bleed profusely. He ran through the brush, hatchets flying around him, the sound of scythes at his back as he turned slowly in an arc, raising the sword up for the second charge.

OOC: Sorry everyone began fighting so I joined in *shrugs*

IC: Ariana faught bravely slashing Orc after orc. They just kept coming back. Cursing under her breath she doubled her effort praying they all weakened soon because she was becoming tired and her body was covered with small cuts.

Lawerence

He ran into the second attack silently. Another hatchet thrower was gutted, and a greataxe warrior lost its head. Blood flowed over the ground, turning dirt to mud.

He gritted his teeth as the hatchet slammed into his rtight leg, going to the bone. He fell, and rolled. The sound of Scythes came close, and he shoved his sword towards it. the sound of metal hitting metal rang through the forst. Sparks flew as Lawerence pushed the sword rather, feeling it hit and seeing blood run down the blade of his sword.

He yanked on the hilt, and started to roll, the sounds of clinking metal coming closer. "The sheilders? Oh, crud!"

He jumped, clammoring into a tree, yanking out the hatchet and tucking it into his belt.

Aiden

Aiden stood over top of Ariana and threw her a small medical pack.

"Fix your wounds, the orcs are dead. I'll keep an eye on you. Aren't you glad I came?"

Ariana looked at him as if he was full of hot air, and all Aiden was trying to do was show some chivalry.

"Im sorry, I know that you told me to stay, but im your protector, and... and...your friend"
