No leader has emerged from within Iran, but Reza Pahlavi has broad support and appears to be coordinating with them.
For now his stated goal is to put it to the people as to whether they want a Constitutional Republic or a Constitutional Monarchy. Hes' making no noises that would indicate he's moving towards an absolute Monarchy.I'm all for ousting the troglodyte branch of Islam from power in Iran but will reserve my opinion on Pahlavi for now. If he wants to facilitate elections then cool. If he just wants to be another dictatorial shitwipe then not so much.
Problem is, nobody else is in any position to speak for this rebellion, or to state goals or demands.Pahlavi won't even be part of the mix.
That may be true in the end but for now he does represent a focus of stability in a sea of chaos and I have yet to hear any other Iranian putative leader mentioned.Pahlavi won't even be part of the mix.
They’re chanting his name in the streets of Tehran.Pahlavi won't even be part of the mix.
So fucking what? because you're Jewish, this is the only issue that you have a reasonable opinion about. It might be interesting if you took a moment to examine your stances on other issues. They’re chanting his name in the streets of Tehran.
Why? Prince Reza hasn't even been IN Iran since 1979.They’re chanting his name in the streets of Tehran.
Gotta love those "Religions of Peace."
The situation presents a lot of horrible possibilities, even prolonged civil war, but there is reason for hope. Up to now, Iran has been usually more or less stable as a theocracy with democratic elements. Elections are fair but not free -- that is, the votes are counted honestly, but only candidates approved by the Guardian Council are allowed on the ballot. If that control is removed, what remains is simply a functioning democratic republic they know how to run.
Of course, Iran's ambitions of regional hegemony would remain.
the votes are counted honestly, but only candidates approved by the Guardian Council are allowed on the ballot....with democratic elements...
Careful there, it seems the effects are cumulative and permanent. What are you smoking? I want some of that !
International observers agree the votes are honestly counted. What are you smoking? I want some of that !

Why are you using a CIA propaganda site?
The list is growing by the day. I know Canada won't, because we could do it ourselves in a year so if we had the interest in it. Which I seriously consider we do now.Seriously? Like who?
I've seen reports of 2000 killings of protestors in the streets by the Mullah's police. The natives are restless over there and agitating for the end of the Mullah's. What's surprising is the restraint, so far, shown by the IRGC. The rumor on the street is that if the Mullah's tell the IRGC to go scorched earth on the citizens the US and Israel are going to go scorched earth on the Mullah's.
Stay tuned.
