The First Legion

As Daniel entered the tent, Alexander took a step back and simply listened to the conversation between the woman, Brietta, and his commanding officer. Silently staying in the shadows to give them some sort of privacy - besides it was a good chance for Alex to observe the woman and make his mind up about her. Was it really worth all this trouble to keep her alive? Alex doubted she would ever help the Romans.... It would be better just to get rid of her, Brietta was simply too big a threat to all of them, Daniel had to see that.

"Now that you mention it, a hot bath and fresh change of clothes would be nice."

Broken out of his thoughts upon hearing the woman's request. Watching her through narrowed eyes. Trying to figure out if she was up to something or not, most probably was....but what? Raising an eyebrow in surprise as Daniel actually granted her her wish! Stepping out of the shadows to reveal himself once more, he then cleared his throat before speaking in a hushed tone.

"Daniel....we shouldnt be treating her like this....so nicely. She may be a Queen but she will turn on us the moment she can get a chance"

Shaking his head softly, seeing as Daniel - his superior - had made up his mind and wouldnt change. Stepping back a little before he spoke.

"Atleast have someone guard her day and night"

Brietta

Brietta shut her ears to Daniel's speech. He knew nothing about her or her people. He knew nothing of their spirit. In her eyes it was better to die free than to live a lifetime under Roman rule. One thing that he said did trouble her though. The people of Britain needed to be united. It was something her father had tried to accomplish, and with his death Brietta had tried to carry out his dream but so far she had been unsuccessful. Still, she had to have hope, without it she had nothing.

Her eyes narrowed on Alex when he spoke. What her captores did not know was that she had been studying Latin for a while now and was able to roughly understand what they were saying. This man who had been so "human" with her earlier was now showing his true colors. He was no different from the rest of the Romans.

Continuing to speak to Daniel quietly, trying to make his case. He was looking out for the rest of the soldiers. He didnt want to put them in harms way - and thats where they would be if this woman was treated too freely. They had to be strict.

"It is not right Daniel....she is a danger to you, the men. We've both seen her fight, she could take a few valuable men down, and imagine what she could do if she got her hands on a bow and arrow. Please listen to reason-"

Pausing then, out of the corner of his eye he had seen Brietta watching them a little too closely. Like she understood some of what they were saying. Eyeing her carefully and also choosing his words more carefully, so she wouldnt uncover more information about them.

"She's dangerous. She will stab us in the back"

Daniel listened to Alex's argument and motioned him over. Alex leaned down and Dan spoke directly into his ear.
"I know," was all he said and somwhow he knew that Alex understood that he agreed completely with what he was saying.
"Now, Brietta, how about that bath?" he asked. He would let her make her move, and when she did, she would find a blade at her throat. She would understand that there was no escape. "Guard!" Daniel called and rose from his chair. He grabbed back his weapons from the guard and fastened his belt. "Please escort this woman to a private bath. Make sure there are some clean cloths for her." Daniel looked back at her. "I think she would look nice in some dark colors, see if you can manage that."
"Yes Sir."
Daniel switched back to Brietta's tounge. "This man will escort you to your bath." he said motioning to the guard. Daniel pulled Alex aside as she slipped out of the tent. "I don't mean to sound like your superior officer here, just your friend when I say, trust me. I know what I am doing. I am going to need your help though. I want you to keep an eye on her when I can not. I want to learn more from this woman. She will help us whether she wants to or not. Will you help me with her?" He asked placing a hand on the shoulder of his best friend.

Struggling to hide the shocked look on his face as he heard Daniel ordering a guard to take Brietta to the private baths! She was the enemy and as far as he was concerned - deserved only a bucket and cloth to clean herself. But he quickly smoothed his face and reminded himself that Daniel was indeed his superior, he had no right to question. Sending the woman one more last look as she was led put of the tent, Alexander then reached for his belt and weapons.

"This isnt right"

He nodded as respectfully as he could ebfore he began to head out of the tent, to be stopped by Daniel himself. Hearing his words...he was right they were best friends, he had to support him this. Slowly he nodded, resigned to the fact he didnt have another choice.

"Fine I'll help. Tell me what you want me to do"

Daniel Enex

"I just want you to keep a very close eye on her. I will not allow anything to happen where she might kill anyone or escape. Right now," he said, opening the flap on his tent and making sure she was well out of earshot. "She will make her escape attempt. We will be there to stop her. If we didn't do this she would try to escape constantly and we would be forced to chain her or kill her, and I don't want to do that. If she knows there is no chance of escape then she will not try it more than once. She already knows that she cannot win a fight against us, but she may still be willing to take a few of us down with her. I need time to convince her that she should not do that. Do you understand?" he asked. Daniel seriously hoped that Alex would not take this personally. He hated to have to do this to his friend but it was necessary to know his enemy. And he would know his enemy, or die trying.

Brietta

Brietta was curious as to what Daniel whispered to Alex, but she did not have time to find out before a guard was called to lead her to her bath. She cast a wondering look across her shoulder at the two men as she exited the tent, but then concentrated all of her attention on forming the sweetest, most innocent smile she could muster for her guard. The poor fool didn't know what he was getting himself into.

He led her to a small tent on the outskirts of the camp and handed her a bundle of clothing before motioning for her to enter while he remained at the entrance. "Thank you." Evelyn told him with a coy smile before stepping inside and taking in the new surroundings. In the center of the space sat a medium sized brass tub encircled by many candles, which were her only source of light. Other than a small bucket and couple of stools, one with a washrag and a bar of soap upon it & the other empty, the rest of the tent was vacant.

Setting the clothes that had been provided for her upon the empty stool Evelyn smiled when she noted that they were indeed dark, perfect for blending into the night. Her plan was to bath and change into the clothes before attempting her escape. Hopefully if she was seen by one of the soldiers they wouldn't even recognize her.

Quickly she undressed and stepped into the tub. Taking the large bucket of hot water she knelt down in the tub and poured it over her head, thoroughly drenching her hair and body. Then she took the washrag and lathered it up with the soap, which she quickly realized was lightly scented. Using the now soapy washrag she slowly began to remove every trace of the lingering blue off of her body before letting down her hair and washing her long brown waves. Once she was clean she used the bucket to rinse herself off again, then stood in the tub to let herself drip dry while she wrung out her hair.

Stepping out of the bath she changed into the fresh clothes and looked around the room for some sort of weapon. Deciding on a long cast-iron candleholder she quietly moved to the tent's entrance. "Oh good sir, could you please help me with something? I can't seem to reach this spot on my back." she called to the guard. When he walked inside, a wicked smile on his face, she used the candleholder to bash him in the side of the head with all of her might. He immediately crumpled to the ground and she removed his gladius from his side and hid the sword in the folds of her skirt as she snuck out of the tent.

Daniel was right, as usual. Alex had no other choice but to do as he was told. Beisdes - the plan his friend just may work. Then they could get back to planning more attacks on the Brits.

"As you command....I'll go now"

Nodding to Daniel once more, he then disappeared into the shadows. Stealth and being quick was one of Alex's many talents. Moving fast and silently between the tents, making sure not to bump into anyone he knew. They would surely give away his position in the camp. Daniel wanted him to be there if Brietta did try to pull something.

In a short period of time, Alex arrived at the tent Brietta would be in. The tent was on the outskirts of the camp and would have the bigger chance of escaping. He waited patiently in the shadows, biding his time, just waiting for something to happen. It was getting cold, and he was getting restless, maybe she wouldnt do anything. Alex considered leaving, until the guard outside went within the tent. Thats when Alex knew she was up to something. Reaching for a fire torch then, he strode over to the entrance to the tent. Whilst doing so pulling out his sword, right at that moment none other than Brietta came rushing out of the tent

"I wouldnt if I were you"

Raising his sword to rest upon her chest, ready to peirce through her skin and her heart. An amused look on his face for just a second before he gestured for her to move back into the tent. He had to check if the other guard was ok, but little did he know - the woman was still armed.

Brietta

Brietta froze in place when she felt the touch of cold steel against her chest and frowned up at Alexander. There was nothing she could do while he had the sword pointed directly at her heart, so she mocked defeat and backed up into the tent as he motioned for her to. She waited until he had lowered his sword and crouched down to check on the guard before she made her move. Quickly removing her sword from its hiding place she used the flat side of the blade to bash him in the side of the head just as she had the guard. Then she ran.

Daniel Enex

Daniel watched Alex dissapear into the shadows and decided it was time to pull off his armor. When it was all in a neat stack within a heavy chest he closed the lock and stepped out into the cool night.
"Primus," another centurion said as he walked by, putting his fist to his heart in salute to the senior centurion. Daniel returned the salute and when he was out of site, threw a black cloak over his shoulders and dropped into the shadows heading for the bathing tent. When he arrived he heard a gladius being drawn from the other side of the tent, he drew his dagger and cut a line up the side of the tent and stepped in. It was about two seconds after he had slid the dagger back into its sheath when Brietta was backing in at sword point, Alex's sword point. Daniel looked for the other guard and located him in the darkness on the floor, he could not tell if the man was armed or not. He stood still in the dim light, with the cloak over his head he was nearly invisible in the darkness. He waited to see how Alex would handle this. And if things somehow got out of hand, she was only a dagger throw away. One second away that is. He noted that two other guards stepped in, both of them obviously draw by seeing Alex holding a woman wearing Roman clothing at swordpoint.
"What is going on here sir?" one asked. Daniel exploded into action, seeing what was coming. And as Alex turned his head two gladii came ringing into the air, Daniel's and Brietta's The guards people situated around the door saw the flying of a black shape only as there was a ring of steel and the two guards were knocked back out of the tent by the surprised Alex as he stumbled back, Daniel's shoulder pushing him aside. Alex instinctivly stabbed out at his attacker, currently Daniel, but only heard the ripping of cloth as his sword pierced the black cloak. By this time Brietta was lunging back in, going for Alex. Daniel reversed his momentum and swung his sword back over his head, knocking her blade aside by mere inches as the blade whistled past Alex's head. In the confusion Daniel was the only one that truly knew what was going on. He heard the distinct ringing of two gladii as the guards prepared to get back inside. Daniel's foot snapped back, kicking the back of Brietta's knees like he had done earlier, and to the same result as her knees hit the floor of the tent hard and she grunted in pain.
"Ghosts!" one of the guards shouted as Daniel, still wrapped in his cloak rolled behind Brietta as she leveled her sword again, for another attack. She found a familiar cold piece of metal against her skin as Daniel's dagger came against her skin. Dan threw back his cowl and watched as Brietta dropped the stolen gladius, realizing she was beaten. Daniel's Gladius knocked the sword away from her and she tried to look back over her shoulder to see who had her again by the neck.
"Guess who?" he said grabbing her around the stomach and pulling her to her feet. "Alex, you have got to be more careful." he said with a friendly smile. "You two, get that man to the medical tent, he looks hurt." he said mointing with his sword at the fallen guard. Daniel then slid the dagger back into the rear of his belt moving the gladius to her stomach silently promising a painful death by gutting if she was to move.
"Sir, should we search her? She may have another weapon."
"Yes, go ahead. But be careful." when the guard approched he slid his hands up her left leg, coming very close to her loins then as he moved them up her right leg he hesitated a little and Daniel felt Brietta flinch against him. But then she found that there was no blade pressed against her. The guard however was not in the same position. Daniel's razor sharp gladius was at the man's crotch, and Alex's sword was pointing at the back of his knee.
"Touch her and you may not find that you are whole tommorow." the icy tone in Dan's voice made the man's hands drop.
"PRIMUS PILUS!" came a call from outside and was followed by a short man with a large stomach entering the tent. "What is this?" the general asked seeing two of his officers holding a soldier at sword point, and his senior centurion holding onto a woman that he did not recognize. Upon seeing the general Daniel swung Brietta behind him in an instinctual protective motion.
"Touch that dagger and you die queen." Daniel said in her language, refering to the dagger on the back of his belt.
"I asked a question, and you will answer me! In Latin!" the small man shouted.
"My appoligies sir." Daniel replied with malice, shething his gladius and reaching around his back to make sure Brietta was remaining behind him, he grabbed her hand. "This soldier was about to touch a prisoner in a manner that is unbecoming of a soldier of Rome, Sir!" Daniel responded. Alex sheathed his sword.
"Where is this prisoner?" he asked.
"Here sir." Daniel replied motioning with his head to the woman behind him.
"then why is she in s private bath, and wearing clothes that anyone would mistake as Roman?" the general asked coming to stand right in front of Daniel, the spit from his powerful voice splattering Dan's cloak. "Why was she not beheaded?" he screamed. Dan's eyes danced with malice and a heated danger.
"Because she is more use to me alive than dead General."
"Really? Well in that case tommorow, you and your friends here, can all go on a mission into the north tommorow. You will not return until you have the head of the leader of these rebels...Or it will be your head."
"Why wait until tommorow?" Daniel asked with a tone that made the people around him shudder, except the General.
"Fine, go now then! If you are still in the camp within the hour you will be convicted of treason and put to death!" the General said storming out of the tent.
"Oh no..." Daniel said, eyeing those Romans around him. "I am so sorry." Daniel, in his anger had endangered them all. And instead of telling the General that the woman in the tent was the leader of the rebel's he had pushed up the dead line. Now they had to go on a dangerous mission, still exausted by the battle earlier.

OOC

sorry, didn't realize you had posted when I put mine up. Well, we can all just patch them together and assume that I came in as Alex went to the ground of something. That okay with everyone?

Brietta

"Why didn't you tell him who I was?" Brietta asked Daniel, not even bothering to pretend like she hadn't understood the whole conversation he and the general had just had in Latin. What was the point? They had caught her...again. She knew now that she was never going to be able to escape.

He had stopped her, yet he had also stopped the other man from touching her. Why? What did he care? Then when the general had demanded that she be beheaded he had defended her again. She looked down at his hand that still held firmly to hers. Why was he doing all of this?

"You should just give him my head now and save your men the journey."

Rubbing the side of his head wearily. He was getting tired with all these games. Flashing Daniel an angry look as he spoke to him. Be more careful! Ha! He should just kill the woman, none of this would have happened. Jerking his arm away from the other guards helping him up, he was feeling just fine now. He was annoyed to say the least with this whole ordeal. Without saying anything else, he moved around the tent to pick up weapons left laying around, he really didnt want to be hit again.

And to make the night worse, none other than the General entered. Cringing as Daniel showed no respect whatsoever. Ever since they had captured Brietta....Closing his eyes as they were sent on yet another mission. Alexander was hoping for one nights rest. This was when his own anger took over.

"This is just great!"

Stalking over to Daniel, Alex pushed Brietta out of the way. He towered over his friend, seething as he spoke. Jabbing a finger painfully into his superiors chest

"You should be sorry Daniel. Soon enough - all of us will not follow you orders, we're not too happy bing your pawns, we dont like being used to get revenge against the General. You should learn your place before you kill us all"

Glancing once more to Brietta

"Get whatever information you want out of her my the morning, kill or let her go then. In the morning, if I find her, I will do the job you were supposed to. I really dont want to do it, but you're endangering us all"

And with that, he sent Daniel one last glare and then left the tent.

Daniel Enex

Daniel was truly hurt by Alex's words. He knew that he deserved everybit of it though. He had endangered his best friend in the world, and two soldiers he did not even know for his own foolish anger. He dropped to his knees and put his head in his hands, quietly asking the gods for guidence. He then realized that Brietta was still waiting for an answer, one which he supplied in Latin, not really realizing that she understood it, or the implications.
"I don't know why I didn't tell him." He said looking into her eyes. He rose off of his knees and looked directly at her. "I guess it is because I don't want anyone else to die. I have seen far too much of that in my life. I protected you because this war is wrong, and the General's wrong for commanding it. I know you won't believe me, but I do not wish your people harm. I just wish for peace. I know that you don't believe me, but it is the truth. But as much as I hate war, there is only one other thing for one with my talents to do, and that is fight in the arena, and I would rather die than fight for the amuzement of others again." Daniel swept out of the tent and walked purposfully back to his own. He sent a guard for three horses, including his own and began to pack his belongings, he doubted he would ever see the things that he didn't pack again. A few minutes later the two guards stepped into his tent, the two that would be accompaning he Alex and Brietta on the journey. The General had ordered the soldiers to go, and hadn't made an express reference to Brietta, but if Daniel or his friends would have any chance of surviving it would be through her graces.
"Sir, we just wanted you to know that the General was wrong to punish you."
"No, he was right to punish me, but not you. As an officer I am responcible for your well being. And as an officer I have failed you both, and Optio Lucius. The third rule of command is to never let your passion rule over your reason, and I have done that tonight, time and again. I am sorry my brave legionnaires, but it is I that has failed not the General. But it is my hope that you two will survive this mission, and go back to your family. I don't think I will have that luxury however. Go get ready."
"Yes Sir." the two responded.
Daniel opened the chest that held his armor, and dropped his cloack over the side. He strapped on the heavy iron plates quickly, with practiced precision. He then grabbed his bracers and his helmet. He closed the chest and placed the helmet on top, and threw the cloack back over himself, covering his heavy armor. Daniel then opened the chest right next to it and pulled out a sword harness, which went over his shoulders, along with two more gladii. He pulled out an iron-shod spear and his rounded shield. Most roman's carried the rectangular shield, but Daniel went with the more versitile rounded shield like he had had in the arena back in Rome. When he snapped the chest closed he heard his tent flap open, and saw Brietta enter. Her hair still a little bit wet from the bath.
"Well, I guess your captivity is almost at an end, Queen Brietta. You will be coming with us." he said, opening the chest again and pulling out a bow, quiver and a long dagger. "You might need these, and they are hopefully fine enough to replace your old ones that were taken from you today. I hope you will find use for them again." he said, walking past her out of the tent and throwing his bag over the pack horse and tying it down. He then hopped up on his horse and started walking it in circles. A Roman officer of low rank approched and tied down a large bag of supplies, including food and water.
"Thank you," Daniel said. He was almost sure he would not see that man, or this camp again when he left in about twenty minutes. Daniel rode across the camp though, all the way to where the hottest fires were. Daniel jumped down and pulled out his three swords. He layed them on the table in front of the blacksmith's.
"You three, sharpen these swords. You have ten minutes." he ordered. They turned and looked at him, then chuckled and went back to work. "There will be ten gold pieces in it for each of you."
His swords were sharper than they had ever been when he rode back to the front of his tent to find all of his companions ready to leave and milling around. He just motioned to them to follow and he rode past. Alex didn't even look his way.

One half hour of silence later, Daniel motioned the two guards he didn't know up next to him.
"What are your names?"
"Felix, of the Trarii," the man on his right said. "I am Agustus of the Trarii sir."
"Good, spearmen. That is good news. Any experiance fighting from horseback?"
"Aye sir, we just switched over to the infantry, though we used to be Heavy Cavalry, Sir."
"Good, then hopefully you will make it back alive." The two men nodded and dropped back to the rear of the small collum, behind Alex, who was following Brietta with cautious eyes. Daniel then took his horse off of the small trail and cut through the tree's. The others followed after a little bit of hesitation. When they caught up to him, and the pack horse they were in a small clearing in the tree's.
"I will take watch tonight, you all get some sleep." he ordered. When Alex gave him a look of loathing Daniel's heart sank a little lower. Why was Alex so angry at me? he wondered. But he knew why. Why should I have to explain myself to him? he wondered. But the same voice that had answered the last question in his head had the answer to that also. He is your best friend! He scolded himself.
One hour later when they had all gone to sleep, albiet Alex had one eye still open (so to speak), Daniel sank onto a log on the outskirt of the small camp.
"A cruel joke you have played mighty Jupiter, a most cruel joke. Why are you so ready to send me to your brother?" he said refering to Pluto who reigned over the world of the dead. Daniel's eyes were set on the sky and he watched the moon travel slowly overhead. He hadn't realized somone had gotten out of bed before they sat down next to him.

Brietta

Brietta had not said anything for the remainder of the day. It was unlike her to be so quiet, but so much had happened in such a small ammount of time that she needed a moment to process it all.

She lay on her sleeping pallet with her eyes closed, but still very much awake. She was thinking of Daniel and what he had said to her.

"I don't know why I didn't tell him... I guess it is because I don't want anyone else to die. I have seen far too much of that in my life. I protected you because this war is wrong, and the General's wrong for commanding it. I know you won't believe me, but I do not wish your people harm. I just wish for peace. I know that you don't believe me, but it is the truth. But as much as I hate war, there is only one other thing for one with my talents to do, and that is fight in the arena, and I would rather die than fight for the amuzement of others again."

He had looked her right in the eye when he spoke, and she had seen the truth there.

Hearing someone speak out to the silent night, she lifted her head and saw Daniel sitting alone on a nearby log. She was reminded of what Alexander had told him earlier.

"Get whatever information you want out of her my the morning, kill or let her go then. In the morning, if I find her, I will do the job you were supposed to."

Standing up from her spot on the ground she walked over to Daniel and took a seat next to him on the log.

"Who are you talking to?" she asked in mild curiosity.

Daniel Enex

"Who are you talking to?"
Daniel smiled over at her, but the smile had no humor in it. He had been speaking to the gods, asking for guidence and aid. How could he explain it?
"Today, I failed. I failed my men, myself and worst of all my best friend. None would have been out here, on a suicide mission if I would have had the courage to let you die. Or to kill you myself. Or maybe if I would have had the brains to hold my tounge. I was talking to the Gods. They have abandoned me I feel. Unless everything that happened today happened for a reason. I should not question the Gods, that is how people loose favor. Do you have God's in your country?" he asked, looking down from the sky and into her eyes. He saw her shiver in the cold night, now that she had moved away from the fire, the cold was getting to her. She was only wearing thin cotton clothing anyway. He untied his cloak and then put it around her shoulders, tieing it under her chin and then pulling the thick wool around her.
"Better?" he asked.

Brietta

"Better?"
Brietta nodded her head and smiled slightly in thanks before turning to gaze up at the moon as he had earlier.
"Yes, we have gods here as well, and though I am not familiar with the gods of your lands I do not think they have abandoned you. The ways of the gods are strange to us sometimes and it is not always easy to understand their plan, but we must trust in their wisdom and know that they are always there guiding us along our path."
A look of seriousness on her face she turned to look at him again.
"Standing against your commander may have been foolish, but it was not cowardly. You let your heart lead you today, and that takes a great amount of courage."

Daniel Enex

Daniel looked at Brietta while she spoke, he watched the stars sparkle in her beautiful eyes.
"You let your heart lead you today, and that takes a great amount of courage."
Daniel didn't respond at first, thinking on what she said. Maybe the God's were looking out for him. Maybe they were in fact leading him along his path, whatever that might be.
"My father told me that whatever happens to trust in the Gods. He told me that I was a rare person. He also told me three rules to live by, he called them the commanders rules. Sometimes I think that he knew I would be a centurion someday. He wouldn't explain them to me, but as I grew he layered them on. I was on the third when we were seperated. I still remeber that day like it was yesterday." Daniel said, looking back up at the stars. "He came into the room in which I was sleeping, and woke me. He told me to listen carefully because he didnt have much time. Thats when the guards came in and started pulling him away. He said that he loved me, and then as they were dragging him away he said 'Passion rules reason!' I knew it was another rule, but he never had the chance to explain it to me. I think that is what happened today. I let my passion rule my reason, and now, well look at what happened." Daniel didn't realize that his voice was shaking as he remembered the saddest day of his life. The day his family was divided, he never saw a single one of them again. 'Passion rules reason'... he thought over everything that had happened that day, and in this short conversation he had just had with this strange woman. Then it occured to him. He figured out the rule. A wide smile spread on his lips as he turned to her. He placed a hand on her chin and turned her face to his. He didn't know why, but he kissed her quickly.
"Thank you Brietta! You have no idea what you have just done for me." he said.

Brietta

"Thank you Brietta! You have no idea what you have just done for me."
"You are welcome." it was all she could think of to say.
Brietta blushed and turned her head, confused by the feelings that he awoke within her. Earlier that day she had tried to kill this man and now... goddess help her, now all she wanted to do was kiss him back.
He was her captor and her enemy, yet at the moment he didn't feel like either. He had told her that he wished for peace and she had believed him, and now when he had talked of his father she could hear the emotion in his voice while he spoke. She could tell how hard it had been for him to speak of it. She had seen the humanity in him.
What was it that Alexander had said about humans?... "We are not all cruel all the time"?
But Alex had changed. She shivered again as she remembered the look of hatred he had given her only a short while ago. Would Daniel change as well?

Daniel Enex

Daniel was excited and happy for the first time that day, which was very strange considering what had happened. His bones ached with the strain of a battle, (more than one with Brietta) and of being up for nearly twenty four hours, yet he had an emmence amount of energy.
"Brietta, you should really get some sleep. I think we are probably going to be confronted by your people tommorow, and they may not know you as their Queen, considering how you are dressed and seeing as you are carrying Roman weapons. I wouldn't want you to get hurt." He said, smiling. He really did not want her to leave, all he wanted to do was to pull her into his arms and kiss her all night, but then, she was the enemy. She had tried to kill him more than once. 'She also chose not to kill you more than once' that annoying voice in his head said. Anyway, he ahd saved her life a few times that day as well, they were even.

Brietta

Brietta turned her gaze back to Daniel and couldn't help but smile herself when she saw how happy he was. She wondered what had him acting this way.
"I don't know how I could ever sleep after a day like today but you're right." she told him.
Standing up from the log, she untied the cloak and removed it from around her shoulders.
"Goodnight Daniel." she said handing it back to him.
She smiled once more before turning and walking back to the camp, her steps silent so as not to wake the others.

Daniel Enex

Daniel was somewhat dissappointed to see her go back to her bedroll and lay down. He rose from the log, pulling his black cloak back around his shoulders. Silently and swiftly Daniel walked the perimiter of the clearing, not noticing anything strange. For the rest of the night Daniel noticed nothing alarming and before sunrise, he returned to camp, started a fire and put on a pot of spice soup for the group when they decided to rise. Alex stirred first but did not wake, then as the soup was just coming to a slow boil he looked at Brietta, taking in her beauty in the soft morning light. He wondered what it was about this woman that he found so incredibly appealing. When he looked back at her, she hadn't moved but her eyes were open and he smiled a tired smile at her. Daniel retreave a few bowls and began ladeling the soup into one for her.
"Morning." he greeted.

Brietta

"Morning." Brietta said, returning the greeting.
A soft smile spread across her lips. Her eyes were still clouded from sleep as if she had just awoken from a dream. Lazily she stretched her arms above her head before sitting up so that she could take the soup that he offered her.
"Thank you." she told him as he handed her the bowl.
She took a few sips of the spiced liquid letting its warmth slowly spread over her, a nice contrast to the chill of the early morning. The whole time she kept her eyes on Daniel, observing him curiously.
"You look tired. Did none of your men help you with the watch last night?" she asked.

"Don't worry about it. Being tired is temporary. And no, no one did, it is my fault they are our here, so I will look after them. you as well I expect. How did you sleep?" he asked.
