The French Quarter (closed)

Tom awoke when he heard the shower start to run. It took him a couple minutes to get his bearings but the events of the evening before quickly came back to him. He had half a mind to go join Sophie in the shower but he wasn't entirely sure she wouldn't have regrets about allowing herself to be with someone so much older than her. Instead he just laid in bed and waited for her to emerge from the bathroom.

“I can go now if you’d like, but my guitar is still in the back of your car.” she said as she stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her chest.

"I can drive you back when you're ready to go. I wouldn't make you take the streetcar or an Uber." he said climbing out of bed. "Why don't you find your clothes while I take a shower then I'll make us breakfast and I can take you where you need to go."

He'd planned on going into the office but it was Friday and he didn't really need to be there so he decided he'd just blow that off for the time being and decide whether he'd go in later.

After a quick shower Tom dried his hair and got dressed. It seemed he'd already made a decision about going into the office when instead of a suit he just put on a pair of jeans and a polo shirt.

Downstairs he found Sophie milling about in the living room looking at pictures and things set about the built in bookshelves.

"Eggs and toast or do you need to get going?" he said making his way into the kitchen and started the Keurig brewing some coffee.

It was nice of Tom to offer to drive her home. It was only a Friday though and she thought he might have had to go to work. Naked, Sophie walked down the grand staircase and found her clothes where she'd left them the night before. They felt a bit stale but there wasn't much she could do about that.

She was dressed before Tom was even out of the shower and so she couldn't resist having a quick look around the house. Starting with the grand Hallway. It was like something out of Gone with the Wind and she imagined herself coming down the stairs in a big flowing dress.

The living room was very lavish, there was art on the walls and the sofas were deep plush leather. Against one wall bookshelves groaned with books. But on one shelf there were pictures in frames. One was a family portrait that looked like it hadn't been taken not so long ago. The children in it were clearly around her age and Tom looked similar to what he did now. His wife was in a wheelchair however and she looked very frail. To contrast this there were other photos from earlier times when she had been healthy. She looked very pretty back then.

Sophie heard footsteps coming down the staircase and she moved to look at some of the other pictures. One was of a younger Tom riding a motorbike with some buddies. He looked cool and casual, he even had a cigarette in his hand.

"I like that picture," she said to him when he walked in. "Where was it taken?"

Tom explained then asked, "Eggs and toast or do you need to get going?"

"Well," she replied. "Normally i'd be doing my lunchtime shift at the Grill on Fridays, but if you remember I lost my job there recently. So now i"m free until my shift at the Coyote Club this evening."

Tom slid the filled cup of coffee across the counter to Sophie then started another.

“Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Tom said as he waited for his coffee to finish brewing. He couldn’t really say if he meant it more for her or himself. She probably wouldn’t have even gotten the reference to a movie way older than her but it seemed fitting.

“Maybe we can go and get some breakfast instead then find some trouble to get into today?” He asked now sure he was going to blow off work.

Tom took her to a cool little spot he liked to go that was in a converted old house. The food was good and the servers were friendly.

“Daddy, daughter breakfast this morning?” The waitress asked as she took their order.

“You know it.” Tom said with a laugh.

As they ate he realized she was still in her clothes from the night before and probably wanted to get out of them.

After he paid the check and they walked out to the street he took her hand. “I’m sure you’re probably wanting to get changed. Let’s find you something. “ he said leading her to a boutique on the next block.

As the entered a young woman approached “good morning, anything I can help you with?” She asked brightly.

“My daughter here needs a new outfit.” He said trying to suppress a laugh.

Tom handed her a coffee and mentioned something about life moving fast, which hadn't really been Sophie's experience of things lately. The last few months had begun to get quite tedious in fact.

“Maybe we can go and get some breakfast instead then find some trouble to get into today?” He asked.

Sophie hadn't expected the invitation but readily agreed.

"I'd like that very much," she told him.

He took her to a place she'd never been to before. It was quirky but seemed friendly enough.

“Daddy, daughter breakfast this morning?” The waitress asked as she took their order.

Sophie suppressed a giggle at what was, from the waitresses perspective, a perfectly reasonable assumption. She wouldn't be saying that though if she'd seen what Daddy had done to her last night, or for that matter how attentive a daughter she'd been to him.

“You know it.” Tom said with a laugh.

"Daddy likes to make sure i'm eating enough," Sophie added as she ordered the breakfast pancakes and syrup.

"Well you need feeding up," the waitress agreed, "Skinny little thing like you."

Sophie ran her foot up the inside of Tom's calf and said,

"Did you hear that Daddy? I'm a skinny little thing that needs feeding up."

She thought she saw Tom blush for a moment and decided not to push it any further in the restaurant. She didn't want to take the joke too far and embarrass him.

Breakfast was to die for and Sophie stuffed her face from the mountain of pancakes placed in front of her. Ultimately she had to concede defeat though and left a couple on the plate. After the breakfast, which Tom paid for, they walked out to the street and he took her hand.

"This is nice," she said reassuring him that she was ok with it.

“I’m sure you’re probably wanting to get changed. Let’s find you something. “ he said leading her to a boutique on the next block.

It was quite a trendy boutique, the sort of place that catered to the offspring of the wealthy classes but not really a place for proper adults.

As the entered a young woman approached “good morning, anything I can help you with?” She asked brightly.

“My daughter here needs a new outfit.” Tom said trying to suppress a laugh.

In the restaurant Sophie hadn't wanted to push it. But since Tom had introduced her as his daughter, well, all bets were off now.

"What are you looking for?" the assistant asked.

"Well, there's this boy I'm trying to impress and I want something casual that's going to catch his eye. Something that shows off the goods, if you know what i mean."

The assistant looked a bit shocked at Sophie's description but since Tom hadn't reacted, she didn't venture an opinion.

"Well our casual ranges are over here," the assistant said guiding her.

Sophie picked out a few things form the racks of clothes then disappeared into the changing room leaving Tom and the assistant outside. When she emerged she showed Tom her choice

"What do you think Daddy?" she asked. “Do you think he’ll like me in it?”

As Sophie was trying on clothes Tom waited patiently by the dressing room while the assistant went about re-organizing clothing racks. Out of the corner of his eye he could see her still eyeing him occasionally with suspicion. He could tell she had questions but wasn't about to dare ask them.

"What do you think Daddy? Do you think he’ll like me in it?” Sophie asked as she came out of the dressing room.

Tom looked her over. Plaid pleated skirts had been a favorite of his as long back as he can remember. Likely because of all the Catholic schools in New Orleans and it was a pretty standard part of school uniforms. They always seemed to take his mind back to the girls he'd chased as a teen.

"I don't know." he said stepping closer to her. "You don't think it shows too much leg?" he said running his fingers up her thighs then lifting the skirt slightly and squeezing a handful of her ass. With the clothes racks between them and the assistant he was relatively sure she didn't see him grab her ass.

"You don't want him to think you're easy do you?" he asked before calling the assistant over for her opinion.

"As a dad I'm no good at these things." he said with a shrug "do you think that's too much leg?"

"I don't think so." the assistant said walking around her taking in the outfit. "She does have nice legs so why not show them off?"
"Yes, she does doesn't she." Tom said in a tone that probably raised a few more questions in the assistant's mind. "If that's what my angel wants, that's what she'll get." he said finally.

"I think she'll be wearing it out." he told the assistant.
As she went about removing the tags to take to the register to ring them up Tom and Sophie exchanged wry grins. He found himself quite amused by the whole thing even if he probably should have been slightly put off by her being passable for his daughter.

Tom paid for the new clothes and the assistant gave Sophie a bag to put her old clothes in. On they way out the door Tom reached over and pinched her ass as he held the door open for her in full view of the assistant who just shook her head.

It was still early in the day and Tom didn't have a lot of ideas on what else to do. It'd been forever since he had a free day and even longer since he was on a daytime date.

"Want to catch a movie?" he asked when they finally stopped laughing as they made their way back to his car.

Although she wasn’t particularly well endowed in the breast department, Sophie did have a nice pair of legs and a pert little butt. Something that hadn’t escaped Tom’s attention it seemed. He’d felt underneath her very short skirt a couple of times in the shop then pinched her bottom on the way out and she’d made it clear she didn’t mind at all. In fact he was getting quite bold now.

She felt a bit sorry for the shop assistant though, as they’d been having a laugh at her expense. But there was no harm done really. They were both adults after all.

"Want to catch a movie?" Tom asked.
It was only eleven o’clock and still quite early really.

“I’m not sure,” she replied. “It’s been ages since I’ve been to the cinema. Do you think there’s a movie we’d both like to see?” She asked then added, “What sort of movies do you like?”

Sophie wasn’t sure that their interests were going to collide. She didn’t think he’d want to watch Barbie and although she’d liked Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders she’d heard that Oppenheimer was three hours long.

“You know I’ve never done any of the tourist things here,” she told Tom. “I’ve never been to the Aquarium, I’ve never been on a steamboat tour either. I’ve never even been on a bar crawl in the French quarter. It’s your town you decide.”

She stopped Tom from walking any further along towards the car and turned to face him.

“But first you going to kiss me,” she told him then sweeping her arm across the street she added. “In front of all these people.”

Though Tom wanted nothing more than to kiss her right there he still took a quick second to glance around at the people around them. His quick hesitation probably had more to do with his discomfort with such a bold public displays of affection than Sophie or her age.

"If you insist." Tom said with a smile after that quick second then wrapped his arms around her, drawing her body against his and gave her a long deep kiss.

It was hard not to just suggest they go back to his house after that kiss but Tom thought some more. "You're right, there is a ton of stuff to do here. I just didn't think you'd be into all the touristy stuff. A bar crawl is definitely out if you have to work this evening but the aquarium did just reopen. Let's check it out."

After a short drive down Magazine street they were back downtown winding their way through the streets of the warehouse district that were crowded with people going to and from the convention center. A short time later he pulled up at the valet stand of the Four Seasons just as they'd done the night before.

Tom handed the valet his keys and took Sophie's hand to walk over to the aquarium.

"Tom?" a voice came from the hotel entrance.
Tom turned to see Frank and Stacey Westbrook exiting the hotel walking his way. They each appeared to be in their late 30s and quite attractive.

"Hey! What are you doing in town?" he asked as he reached out to shake his hand.

"Just here for some meetings. Stacey decided to tag along." Frank said before turning to Stacey "You remember Tom right? He was the lead attorney with me on the Deepwater case."

"Yes of course." she said shaking his hand.

"This is Sophie, we were just going to the Aquarium." Tom said introducing Sophie to the couple.

"Nice to meet you Sophie." they both said at the same time then laughing at themselves.

"We were just going to do some shopping and get some lunch. Let's get together for dinner while we're here if you have the time." Frank said starting to step away.

"Would love to." Tom replied. "Let's plan on tomorrow night if you're still here."

Frank agreed and they parted ways. As they walked toward the Aquarium Tom started to fill Sophie in on who they'd just met.

"Frank's a hotshot attorney out of New York I've partnered with on a case. Young but the guy is about as sought after as anyone I've ever met at his age. You free for dinner tomorrow night?" he asked hoping she might join him since he dreaded going to dinner with couples by himself.

As they'd driven back to the hotel where they'd eaten the night before Tom hadn't been able to keep his hands off Sophie and she'd made it easy for him too. He'd lifted the short skirt out of the way and teased her pussy through the thin material of her panties. It was sending her wild but she tried to remain composed. Tom didn't realise it but the low slung Aston Martin meant that she was on view through the passenger window to any passing trucker. . When they'd stopped at a light, Sophie had caught one looking at her lecherously, so she smiled sweetly at him.

After they'd parked the car and were heading to the Aquarium someone called out Tom's name and they turned to see a couple just coming out of the hotel. They were a little younger than Tom but not by much. Sophie immediately felt a little bit embarrassed to be dressed so scantily in front of people Tom knew, especially as they were both dressed casually, but like adults.

Tom introduced Sophie and Sophie did her best to act with decorum. There was no daddy, daughter banter going on now, but Frank and Stacey Westbrook must have been wondering what was going on all the same.

Tom agreed to meet them for dinner on Saturday and then they parted ways. He explained who Frank was then surprised Sophie by asking him to join them for dinner.

"I don't know, Tom," Sophie said apologetically. "I work on Saturday nights. It's my best night for tips and the Coyote club is the only job I have right now, apart from the Apple Barrel. But i do that for the love of it more than anything. They pay peanuts. I don't want to bang on about it Tom but I need the money I'm afraid."

Sophie didn't want to sound whiney or like a gold digger but her finances were always on a knife edge and right now all she really had was four nights at the Coyote club to pay for her food and lodgings. It was a killer for any sort of relationship because the four nights that she worked were the ones when normal people did things. It wasn't Tom's fault but until you live from pay check to pay check every week you've no real idea what its like to be constantly worried about where the money is going to come from.

"Also, I don't want to embarrass you," Sophie continued. "Frank and Stacey look like intelligent people and I don't think you really want to have a dumbass like me sitting next to you. Do you? I mean they're probably already wondering what you're doing with me."

"And in any case," she added. "I don't have anything to wear to something sensible as dinner. I mean look how out of place i was last night."

As Sophie explained her situation Tom felt a little silly for not assuming she'd be working. It was a Saturday night after all and though it was long ago he certainly knew what it was like to scrape by.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. I understand." he said acknowledging that he'd allowed himself to get a little carried away. Though he felt a comfort with Sophie that he couldn't explain he had to remind himself that they'd only met the day before. Still, he found himself fighting off the urge to take care of her and solve all of her problems. It was certainly something he could easily do but if he learned anything from Jen it was that women aren't necessarily looking for him to solve their problems.

"You wouldn't embarrass me though and you're NOT a dumbass. I know my own kind when I see them and you're not one of them. I'd be thrilled to have you with me." he said trying to lighten the mood a little.

As they made it Spanish plaza they happened upon a busker playing 'Through the Floor' by Edwin McCain and they stopped for a moment to listen. His well worn guitar case was open on the ground at his feet with loose change and a few bills scattered across it's plush lining as he poured his emotion into the song. It instantly took Tom back some 20 years when he and Jen saw the original artist perform at the House of Blues and he allowed himself a moment of nostalgia before flicking a $20 bill into the case and moving along.

"Maybe I should just hire you as my sexetary and take you away from all this." he said with a laugh as they approached the ticket window. "It pays well, the hours aren't long and on occasion it can even be rewarding." It was again one of his usual half jokes as he knew he'd do it in an instant. He'd hardly be the first sugar daddy in New Orleans.

The suggestion wasn’t as abhorrent to Sophie as perhaps Tom had imagined it might be.

She’d been on her own for three years now and had nothing to show for it. No money, no possessions, except her cheap guitar. Sure she had plenty of acquaintances but no real friends and in truth Sophie was lonely.

So was there any harm in letting a rich guy spoil her for a while in return for sex. She’d enjoyed sleeping in a real bed in a real house and waking up to a real person beside her. And so what if he was a little bit older than her. It didn’t need to be forever and she was going to Aspen in a few month’s time anyway

So, while trying not to sound too enthusiastic she told Tom,

“I think I’d need to know a bit more about the job description and exactly what the compensation package included before I could make a decision like that.”

Tom made it to the ticket window and nearly forgot what it was he was doing there for a moment.

"2 tickets please." he said still a little flustered. As he passed his card to the attendant he worked through in his mind what exactly he might be proposing.

As the entered and walked through the glass tunnel he barely took notice of what was around them. He started to talk again as the broad strokes of what it might look like started to form in his mind.

"Well I think the job description should be pretty clear. You'd effectively be my girlfriend with all that entails. As for compensation." he paused then lowered his voice slightly realizing there were people around. "You could live with me and I'd cover your living expenses and you'd have free use of the house and cars. You'd clearly want to walk away with something at the end of all of this so let's say I'd set you up with a savings account where I'd deposit $3,000 a month. When you decide it's time for you to move on you'd have that to get a fresh start somewhere."

There were obviously more details and complexities he thought but it seemed like the start of an agreement that might sound reasonable to her.

"Does that seem like a reasonable starting point?" he asked not sure if she'd be shocked that this was now being seriously discussed.

Sophie thought for a moment as they walked through the fishy underworld. Tom’s offer was a good one and three thousand dollars a month was generous considering that basically she’d have no outgoings. But there were a few things she wanted to clarify.

“I could give up my job at the Coyote club. That would free me up on weekends but I’d want to keep my nights at the Apple barrel. And to be clear I’d be your girlfriend, not a dirty little secret you didn’t want to admit to. Right?”

Then came the things that weren’t dealbreakers but would be nice to have.

“I’d need you to buy me some new clothes or give me some sort of allowance so that I could buy them. I really don’t have much. What I’ve got is pretty old and I think you’re going to want your girlfriend to dress nice for you,”

She wiggled her hips trying to strike a mock sexy pose but it didn’t quite work out.

“And I’m not even going to pretend that this is a deal breaker but it would mean a lot to me if you bought me a new guitar. Then I could try and learn some of those Edwin McCain songs you seem to like. So I’m just putting that out there.”

“Oh and I could really do with a new phone. And an I-pad….”

Tom laughed when she started to sound like his kids rattling off a Christmas list when they were young. Honestly though, Sophie's refinement's all seemed pretty reasonable he thought as she listed them off. Like every starting position he'd ever taken in a negotiation he was willing to go a lot higher but her asks didn't nearly approach his ceiling.

"I think since I asked you to come to dinner with a business associate and his wife you can assume your concern about being a dirty little secret are covered. Clothes, I'd already factored that into what I considered living expenses so we're good there. The Apple Barrel may be a sticking point though." Tom paused for a moment letting that hang out there for a minute before clarifying. "You should be aiming way higher and I think I can help you with that. I know a few people."

Tom was pretty certain based on what he'd heard that he could get her into much better venues. Even Carrolton Station would be a step up from the Apple Barrel and he could have her playing there with a single call.

"And if I'm going to get you into better venues you probably will need something nicer to play. Next time you're at the house you can take a look at my Taylor Custom and see if it'd work." He'd thought about that instantly when she mentioned a new guitar. He noodled a little throughout his life but was never all that good at it. One year Jen was trying to encourage him to play more so she got it for him for Christmas and it'd sat in a closet for ever since. He'd always meant to put some time into it but he just never had. With they eye popping price of it it'd be a shame to leave it there when Sophie would be able to put it to proper use.

"So it's a deal?" he said holding out his hand.

Sophie listened to Tom consider her requests. He seemed amenable to most of them. He didn’t mention anything about a phone or an Ipad though so she was going to have to let that slide she guessed.

Tom had said he thought she could do better than the Apple Barrel. But she wasn’t sure how much of that was just him saying it because he liked her. Sophie didn’t mind where she played, as long as she got to play.

Taylors were nice guitars and some were very nice indeed. Much better than the cheap Chinese copy she was using at the moment. it seemed crazy to her that he would have something like that just sitting around unused. She couldn’t wait to hear what it sounded like.

It would seem odd giving up the Coyote Club in a way. She enjoyed the noise and the banter with the customers. It was her social interaction in a way. In truth, she hadn’t minded the groping even. Well from the attractive guys at least. But most of the girls that served were from New Orleans and had a life there. All she’d had was a rather depressing apartment to go back to.

“So it's a deal?" he said holding out his hand.

“It’s a deal,” she replied, taking it. “I’ll have to go to work tonight and let them know but I could pack up my stuff in the morning and move in tomorrow if that’s ok? I’ve not got much. It all fits into a large suitcase and a rucksack, plus my guitar of course.”

Sophie thought for a moment.

“I am going to need a dress for tomorrow night though. So why don’t you choose something for me to wear while I’m packing. Something you’d like to see me in.”

“Oh and one last thing,” Sophie added, taking hold of Tom’s shirt. “As your new sexetary it’s going to be my job to organise your sex life from now on. And since the compensation package is so good, it’s a job I’ll be taking very seriously. And I do hope you’re up for being a bit adventurous. Because I’ve already got some ideas. Ok?”

As they made their way around the aquarium Tom couldn't help but feel excited about their arrangement. To someone outside it might seem a bit scandalous but he just thought of it like a normal relationship just accelerated. Anyone he dated seriously he wouldn't want to struggle financially if he could help it so why would helping Sophie be any different? Would she have agreed to it if he didn't have means? Probably not but that's just one of the perks of wealth.

He did find himself a bit worried about her having him pick a dress for her though. The last time he did that it didn't work out so well so he had some anxiety about that. Hopefully he could find someone at Saks that would be kind enough to help him out.

As they made their way to last of the exhibits he couldn't help but wonder what she meant by adventurous. He didn't think much of it when she said it but now it was starting to pique his curiosity. Adventurous probably wasn't the word he'd used to describe his and Jen's sex life and even before they got married he wasn't all that wild. It's not that he was opposed to trying new things. In fact, at the moment, trying new things sounded perfect for him.

After killing a couple hours at the aquarium they decided it was probably time to get Sophie home so she could take care of what she needed to and get ready for work. Dropping her off in front of her apartment he could see why she might easily agree to move in with him. It wasn't anything he hadn't expected given she was new in town and struggling to make ends meet but he could definitely see how the lifestyle he offered would be appealing.

Sitting in the car in front of her apartment they exchanged numbers and he leaned across the car for one last kiss before he let her go.

The idea of going on and sitting to wait for tomorrow to come seemed painful to him so he decided to swing by Canal Place and get his shopping done early. With a quick stop to the AT&T store he added another phone to his account and iPad. The salesperson assured him she'd be able to transfer her number so he figured it was just easier to set it up as a family plan.

With that done he steeled himself for a trip to Saks. "May as well get it over with" he thought to himself as he walked in and found the women's section. He'd been wandering around aimlessly when a nice sales woman offered to assist.

"What are we looking for today?" she asked as she approached.

"Looking for a dress for a nice dinner out. Probably something simple." he said really not sure what else she might need to know.

"Size?" she asked curtly.

"She's about your size and age." Tom said knowing age would probably be helpful information for selecting something.

After giving him a knowing stare she found a couple. "I like this one a lot though." she said holding up a black dress. "Would you like to see it on me?" she asked.

"Sure, that would be great." Tom said half sure she might be hitting on him.

After a moment in the dressing room she stepped out and did a twirl for him in the dress. He had to admit it looked great on her and he hoped Sophie would like it.

"Looks great! I'll take that and some shoes that go with it." he said feeling relieved to have at least gotten something.

"I think it's a good choice. And if she doesn't like it you can bring it back and take me out in it." she said with a wink.

Tom laughed it off but couldn't help but wonder what sort of alternate dimension he'd entered.

With his shopping done he headed back to his empty house excited to know it wouldn't be empty much longer.

Everything had happened so quickly. You couldn’t have predicted it, but Sophie felt oddly confident about the situation.

After the Aquarium Tom had dropped her off at her apartment. She was glad he hadn’t expected to be invited in as a she wasn’t proud of where she was living.

Her first job was to see the building manager and tell him she’d be leaving. She rented the room by the week so didn’t need to give much notice and she paid what she owed out of the money Tom had given her the previous day.

Then she got changed and caught the bus to the French Quarter. The manager told her he was sorry to see her go, but the nature of bar work was transient and so nobody would lose any sleep over it.

Saturday nights at the Coyote were always busy and as usual it was a rowdy crowd. A few guys tried to hit on her over the course of the evening and it felt good to tell them she had a boyfriend, and mean it.

At the end of the evening after the bar had shut, the manager organised a round of drinks for the staff to say goodbye. One of the girls asked where she was going and she explained that she was moving in with her boyfriend and they wanted to spend some time together. They all agreed she’d have to bring him down one evening to say hi and she promised that she would.

When she got back to the apartment it was late. She thought about phoning her parents but it would be even later in Milwaukee. And so she decided she’d leave it a few days before she called them.

******

In the morning Sophie packed her stuff. It didn’t take long. She wasn’t sure what to do with her bedsheets though but in the end she decided to put them in plastic bags and leave them by the refuse bins. If someone else wanted them they could take them. She doubted Tom would need them.

She texted Tom when she was ready and he texted back when he was close by. She dropped her keys off then waited at the side of the road. A grey SUV pulled up with Tom inside it. She’d been expecting the Aston Martin but with her suitcase and rucksack the SUV made a lot more sense. He got out and helped her put her belongings in the trunk. Then Sophie couldn’t help but give him a hug.

“Take me away from all of this,” she laughed as she looked at the rundown apartment block. “I’m ready to start our new life together.”

Tom had been pacing around the house most of the morning waiting to hear from Sophie. Having pulled out the guitar from the closet he stacked the guitar, phone, iPad and dress on the coffee table in the living room. If he had a little artificial tree he would have set it up too since it looked like Christmas morning there. When she finally texted him a time he climbed into his Tahoe and went to pick her up. To say he was excited would have been an understatement.

After throwing her bags in the back they climbed in.

“Take me away from all of this, I’m ready to start our new life together.”

"Gladly" he said as he pulled away from the curb. "Oh, these are for you." he said picking up a set of keys from the cupholder in the armrest between them. On the ring was a key to the house and the keys to the Tahoe they were in. "You do have a license don't you?" he asked thinking it's possible she didn't.

The drive to the house took less then 15 minutes and before long he was pulling into the driveway. As he did he pointed out the opener on the sun visor that operated the gate so she'd know where it is.

With her bags in hand Tom asked Sophie to get the door with her new key. Tom set her bags down in the kitchen entry for the time being and directed Sophie to the living room just beyond the kitchen.

"There are some things for you in the living room if you'd like to take a look."

He followed her in and hoped she liked what he'd gotten her.

Sophie did have a driving license although it had been a while since she'd last driven a car. She would need to practise a bit when Tom wasn't around she resolved, not wanting to admit her inadequacies to him.

When they got back to the mansion she opened the side door with the key Tom had given her, noting that this was the preferred method of entry, rather than the grand front door. Tom set her bags down in the kitchen then ushered her through to the lounge where a small pile of boxes awaited her, the largest of which was obviously a guitar case.

Carefully, Sophie undid the clasps and then folded the lid over. What she saw almost took her breath away. It was the most beautiful Taylor guitar. The tonewood was a maple that hadn't just been chosen for its sound but also for its beauty. It was a work of art.

Sophie picked the guitar up and after adjusting the tuning played the intro and first verse of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'. She'd always been a fan of Dave Gilmour's guitar playing and she loved that song in particular. The Taylor loved it too and rewarded her with a deep rich sound to accompany the sad vocal.

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell?
Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Then realising the song was a bit down beat she stopped and played one of her Dad's favourite's, Eddie Cochrane's 'Somethin' Else'. This time guitar faught her though. It's tone too refined for the vulgar simplicity of the chords and while most couldn't hear it, Sophie did, so she stopped. Like any relationship it took time to understand each other and the guitar was no exception.

"Thank you," Sophie told Tom. "It's the most beautiful guitar in the world."

The Iphone and Ipad were trivia compared to the guitar but Sophie was grateful. Not so much because of their value but because of the way Tom had wanted to spoil her. Nobody had done that for her since she'd left home and a wave of emotion hit her. She hugged Tom and found herself crying.

Pulling herself together she looked in the final box and saw the dress. Sending him to find her a dress had been as much a test as anything and she was curious to see what he'd come back with. She had no idea what to expect. He could have dressed her as a tart or a librarian and it wouldn't have suprised her. But as it turned out he'd chosen something both modern and flattering.

"You did well," she told him, chuckling. "I was wondering what you'd come back with but I like it. A lot!"

When Sophie set the guitar down to look at the other things Tom picked it up and started to mindlessly strum some open chords. He couldn’t play much but he knew at least a few songs in the old tried and true DCG pattern. Outside of that he was limited bar chord rhythm for a ton of 80s hair metal.

“I’m glad you like it.” He said when she said she like the dress he selected. “The sales girl said if you didn’t like it she’d go out with me in it.” He added with a laugh. He felt like he could share the story because Sophie didn’t seem the type to be super jealous and was more likely to get a laugh out of it too.

Having made it through the things he had for her it was time for what might be the awkward part. “Let’s get you settled in.” He said getting up and picking up her bags. As they ascended the stairs he decided to just ask.

“So we didn’t really talk about it. You’re welcome to set up in my room but if you feel like you want your own space the guest room is available too. It’s up to you really.”

When he proposed the arrangement he’d sort of envisioned her staying in his room but as he thought about it over the last day he became less sure she wouldn’t want her own space.

Sophie made a mental note that the dress had come from Saks then giggled.

“I can see i’m going to have to watch out for the competition,” she told Tom.

It wasn’t such an unreasonable scenario really. Tom was a good looking guy and wealthy too. There were probably quite a few women who’d be interested in what he had to offer. Perhaps not so many her age. But when she thought about it there were probably more than a few divorcees in thirties who’d view him as quite a catch.

“Let’s get you settled in.” He said getting up and picking up her bags. “So we didn’t really talk about it. You’re welcome to set up in my room but if you feel like you want your own space the guest room is available too. It’s up to you really.”

“It’s up to you, Tom,” she said. “To be be honest I’d like some companionship so I’m all-in if you are. But I know that I’m not your wife and that this house is yours and hers. So you need to let me know if I overstep the mark. Ok?”

“it’s settled then.” Tom said as he led her into his room and pointing out the empty side of the dresser and the side of the wall in closet she could claim.

As Sophie unloaded her bags and put her things away Tom sat on the bed watching her.

“I don’t want you to worry about overstepping though. This is your home as long as you’re here. I don’t want you feeling like a house guest.”

When she had her things put away Tom decided to give her a tour. The upstairs was mostly bedrooms. His kids rooms were still theirs for when they visited and were mostly how they left them when they finished high school. At the end of the hall though was a gym with free weights, treadmill, etc. it had t gotten a lot of use lately though.

Downstairs there were the areas she’d seen but there was also a library/office, a theatre room that had seating for about 8 and a full wall screen. Then there was the back yard. They exited the French doors onto the patio that led to the pool. On the patio was an outdoor kitchen and bar..

“If you have a swim suit we can do some day drinking and go swimming if you’d like.” He said with a big smile. He loved spending time in the pool and loved the idea of doing it with her even more.

Sophie had thought she’d seen the house the night before but in fact there was so much more to it. She loved the home theatre and the pool and when Tom suggested they take a dip she readily agreed.

Sophie had done a couple of Spring Break promotions for the Coyote club and so she had a swimsuit of sorts. It was a tiny

tie sided thing

It didn’t cover much of her but it had gotten her some great tips. She was fairly certain Tom would like it.

I’ll go up and change she told him, if you want to fix us some drinks.

Sophie rifled through the drawer that contained her bras and panties. It was probably a stretch to call it lingerie. She knew she would have to work on that aspect of her wardrobe, among others.

She found the tiny bikini and, after stripping off her clothes, put it on. Looking in the mirror, it reminded her of the Spring Break promotions. They’d been a wild couple of days. Those college boys and girls certainly knew how to have fun.

But she wasn’t sure that Tom was ready to know the details of some of the things she’d got up to. And, as his sexetary she wasn’t too sure how far to push things either. Things had happened so fast that she’d not had the chance to ask him what he wanted sexually out of their arrangement. Which, when she thought about it, was a bit selfish and a pretty stupid omission on her part.

Then again she was pretty sure that nothing he would want to do was going to shock and surprise her. The risk of her getting bored with their sex life was probably more of a concern. After all, she couldn’t expect him to have the libido of a man in his twenties, could she.

But then again, it would be nice if he was open to some of the kinkier things she’d enjoyed in the past. In fact doing them with her lover would probably increase her enjoyment, if anything.

Regardless however, Sophie wanted to give their relationship a go and was committed to making the most of their time together, at least until the ski season began. After that it would depend on how they both felt she guessed.

As Sophie went upstairs to put on her suit Tom stepped into the pool house to put his on before making their drinks.

As Sophie came back out in that tiny bikini he couldn’t help but stare at her barely covered breasts. “Nice!” He said as he handed her her drink. “Rum and coke, with the good stuff.”

With drinks in hand they walked down the steps into the cool water. As Sophie leaned against the side of the pool sipping her drink Tom set his on the pool deck just over her shoulder then stepped in front of her wrapping his arms around her waist.

“I’m glad you’re here.” He said, probably staring the obvious, before leaning in and kissing her.

His hands cradled her ass under the water as he pulled her to him pressing her body against his. His hands found their way to the knots on her hips and with a tug at each her bikini bottom fell away and drifted to the bottom of the pool.

Sophie put her arms around Tom’s neck and wrapped her legs around his waist. The water making her almost weightless to support. She gave him a kiss then suggested,

“You should probably finish the job and take my top off too. ”

They kissed again while Tom completed the task and then she was naked.

Reaching over to the side of the pool, Sophie took a large sip from her rum and coke.

“I mustn’t drink too much. I don’t want to embarrass you in front of your friends tonight,” she giggled. Then she asked “so what do I need to know about them. They both seemed quite attractive. Do you know them well?”

Tom flung Sophie’s top onto the pool deck and his own suit followed shortly after.

“Don’t want you feeling self conscious.” He said pressing his body into hers.

“I spent a lot of time with him on a case recently. I’ve only met her one other time when we had a party after the case was settled.” Tom said trying to think what other things he knew about them. “He never really talked much about his personal life but they do seem to like to party. I remember Stacey had quite a few drinks at the party and got pretty flirty. He seemed a little annoyed as you can imagine.”

As he talked his hardening cock bobbed between her legs.

“So I guess there’s a good chance she might embarrass him more than you could ever embarrass me.”
