The Future is dense, vertical cities

Can't produce nearly as much food that way.
They won't. The soil erosion, aquifer depletion, loss of imported fertilizer, depletion of fossil fuels used in tractors, and all the agricultural mistakes and short term profiteering of centuries will add up to much less food production everywhere.

The future is dense fuckable Lit libturd posters.

Too bad they're/their/there all at the bar drinking themselves into oblivion.

Self pity is an unfortunate thing . . . .
That's for damn sure if we don't dump these teachers unions and hire qualified people.

Then I guess we'll have to get heavily into hydroponics.

The one form of agriculture that can work in an arcology.

Your vision is more expensive to build than regular urban density and doesn’t offer any advantages.
Build?

Organic process of continual destruction and growth.

The funny thing is, this kind of activity is usually talked about by the Left as economic stimulus and JOBS...

I guess in the future, we will all be in cubicles coding or resting as copper tops.

All the work done by our machines.

Why go anywhere?

Comes 2 U

If they can read, they could be qualified enough, after the curriculum and administration are replaced with something that works.

Conventional urban density grows organically. Urban sprawl required government subsidies.

Arcologies require massive central planning and spending. That’s why they only exist in science fiction.

Cities are building more train lines and bike paths right now. The age of the car is dying.
Yes.

I agree.

They did that here.

Now, they have the free space to add a center turn lane in the future to take up the unused bandwidth.

California dumped an ocean of money just recently into a rail line that went nowhere.
And the cars keep clogging up your majestic freeways;
ones that solved the last set of problems before
they created a magnificent, beautiful!

The Village of Providence shows how you can create a strong place out of nowhere

Representatives of the development report that there are at least 4,000 jobs in the Village of Providence, 1,000 multifamily living spaces, and three good-sized hotels. Traditional neighborhoods with 700 single-family houses and an elementary school are adjacent to the center. Within a mile radius are another 5,000 homes (not part of the TND), and some are within walking distance.

Unlike some new urban centers, the Village of Providence has good street life and foot traffic, even in off hours. There are lots of restaurants with outdoor seating, activating the sidewalks.

The erosion of the ocean has been horrible.

Less of it than ever before.

We're all gonna starve!

Ain't "gummint planning" wondemous????

In China, the cyclists do not need special lanes.

Trump should Make America Green Again with a voluntary red-green eco-relocation program.

Okay, fat-bottom liberal girls, stop your whining, get on your bikes, self-deport, ride off and save the planet.

China needs a lot of cleanup. You won't need shoes. They love babies too...

Adding more lanes doesn’t do anything to help traffic. It would be more helpful to ban on-street parking and convert the parking lanes into bus or bike lanes.

Inside joke: Yes, it is a walnut tree...

You will not get it and I will not explain.
That’s okay. I’ll just keep using your thread to extol the benefits of dense, walkable cities.

I particularly like riding the train at rush hour and looking on the window at all the poor suckers stuck in traffic while I speed past. Then when I walk home from the train station I can pass more people stuck in traffic.

In love with the technology of yesteryear, we all get that, but the world is moving faster than your imagination.

The automobile is the technology of yesterday. The people of the 20th century were obsessed with automobiles and wrecked their cities to accommodate them, but now in retrospect we can seen the error of their ways and begin undoing the damage they did.

Cities on earth are so yesterday.....it's time to look a little further afield
