A couple of wrecking votes have lifted my rating to a massive 3.33.

At 2.00 with 2 votes, by my patent formula I had a Last Place score of 0.16.

That would be difficult to beat. Even with the new votes that essay the Og formula rates it at 0.5328.

That's where I am headed now. Mine just went up this morning.
It was something I wrote but held off submitting. I don't know if you saw it.

My essay was one of the first six to be posted, but still had only 21 votes, the last time I looked. My score is slightly higher than yours, but some new votes might raise your score to a point approaching 4.00, which would deny you the last place (tm) prize, and allow me, who deserves it more, to win it.

Could you please remove my mispelled comment? I tried to fix it, and ended up commenting twice.

Thinking a little, it was something of a post-freudian slip.

So. This is a cool place.

I submitted an entry to the contest yesterday morning (it was late because, oh yeah, I didn't start it until yesterday morning), and it's still listed as "pending approval." I put some excerpts in my signature to give you a little sample.

Assuming it gets approved (because it doesn't have anyone under 18 having sex - although I did mention Jerry Lee Lewis' 14-year-old cousin, now that I think about it - and it doesn't have any more typos than any of my other works), what happens next?

In the meantime, though, this is my first contest. Does etiquette require, as I assume it would, that I visit the entries of my fellow contestants? If those contestants appear, from their postings in this thread, to want to finish last, is it more polite to give them ones, or give them the fives I intend to give everyone else?

Thanks so much for your help. This is an alien world to me.

Uh, sure, I mean, that is, I would, except I just deleted the second (corrected) one. I hadn't noticed any errors on the first one--just figured the computer gods had conspired to create a double-post.

Next time I'll check here first. If the minor blemish offends you, post another comment and I promise to delete that foul first one, honest.
