the hunt for the egyptian legend

Ooc: About time you two finished... not that it wasn't pleasent for everyone...
damnit, ok ummm does anybody have a towel?

Blore woke as the sun rose. He didn't dream that night. It was the first time in years that he had gone without a dream. He calmly watched the sun start it's descent into the heavens, the burning gases radiating with the desert heat.

(of course everyone could hear you... it wasn't like you were making love in a sealed chamber, it was a tent, lol)

Blore got up, and set a morning fire. He decidedly cooked a delicious, but simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, and some cold biscuts on the side. He set each plate on the make shift tables, beside the fire. No one was functioning yet, and it was way part morning time. Blore furrowed his brow, when he suddenly got an idea... a cruel idea.
Blore grabbed his trumpet from the stachel on his camel.(yes, the man plays an instrument, ladies... it's a dream come true). He wetted his lips, watching the tents with great interest. Silence, a desert silence had overcome it. He breathed in, and blew.
Ahhh, life was good.
Finally when the apron came off, Blore went to check on his weapons. The shotguns, the revolvers, the rifles, even the flare gun he packed just in case was there too. The ammunition checked out, seeing as he had fired nothing since the trip began, all of the boxes were still full. He would have to do something about that, but not now. Shooting practice would have to wait until later.
Blore checked the other equipment as well. In the desert, one could never be too careful.

Violet

morning came and with it a whole mess of problems. did robert want everyone to know seeing him leave my tent? i was just waking enjoying the feeling of his warm body when the horn shattered the peacefulnes off morning.

I sat up quickly and put hands over ears seeing robert's eyes opening and locking on my breasts. I blush, for no reason and lean over and kiss him, feeling close to him yet shy about it.

"we'd better get dressed, sounds like Blore is eager to get going."

I stand and begin getting dressed putting my nightgown back in my bags and setting to getting tent packed up.

Robert

Robert quickly got dressed, still feeling a little drowsy. He averted his gaze from Violet as she dressed--there was a little flaw in reasoning there, after all, last night they had...
Robert felt his face flush an pointedly kept himself from looking at Violet until she was dressed...

When Robert was dressed, he suddenly realized how delicate a situation he was in. Thanks to Blore and his blasted trumpet, everone outside was on their toes now...
Robert turned around. Despite his best efforts, his eyes went to her reasts for a while, now covered by her shirt, but still rousing the memory in him, of how he had--

Shaking himself, Robert leaned forward, kissed her (causing his face to redden even more) and said "Umm, I'd better try to get out of here inconspiciously, before that becomes impossible."

Robert peeked out of the tent's entrance. At first glance, no one was looking this way. Taking a deep breath, he quickly but noiselessly sped to his own tent, not stopping until he was inside and praying that no one had seen him...

violet

(going to act as if i can't read your mind)

he wouldn't look at her as he dressed and then suddenly they were standing in front of each other his hands cupping her full breasts, she thought he was going to kiss her, and he did but it was soft peck, a thanks for last night hom i'll be going now sort of kiss then he left. once she knew he was gone she cursed herself. he was embarassed about last night. she ran her fingers through her hair and tried to calm herself before heading to breakfast.

no matter how she tried she still looked grumpy when she scarfed down breakfast and broke down her tent

Robert

As they broke up the camp, Robert avoided everyone's eyes, just in case someone knew...until he saw Violet.
He unsuccesfully tried to fight down his blush as he smiled at her, transfixed by her brown eyes--then his smile faded as he noticed her grumpy expression.

Uh-Oh...what have I done now?
I guess I shouldn't have been so forward last night...what on earth posessed me?

(just wanted to give others a chance to post....perhaps Lave could recruit....I'll mention it in my pub thread)

no.....just slow right around christmas

(I have to mention I will be gone from December 22 to jan 1....but regardless, sory i have been REAL busy.)

Vincent had just smiled and left, a shy grin on his face (Had to find someway to make up that time i missed...sorry, wait for another night... ;) )
I said good-night, and climbed into my hard bed. I slammed my fist into the pillow a few times, not comfortable. I slept, and kept waking up with horrifying dreams of it...I don't know what...but IT. I woke up and tidied up my tent, packing my things, then just dozed until I heard Blore and his trumpet. I put on a white thin strapped shirt and my khaki shorts, I smoothed lotion of my skin, sunscreen to be exact. The light coconut fragrance wafted through the air, I stepped out into the warming morning. I smelled the bacon, my eyes sleepily adjusted. My tiredness apparent. I ran the brush through my hair one more time, then threw it into my backpack, I hoisted my pack on and went towards the fire. I smiled at vincent then I tunred towards blore. "Food, thank the heavens."

Ooc: It's ok Lava. We all understand, just take your time, the thread will still be here. It ain't going nowhere... ouch, and they call me an english major?

Everyone had finished breakfast, except Lava. She seemed down today, although he couldn't blame her. She had probably had bad dreams, stayed awake for all hours of the night, and to top it all off he woke her up with a trumpet. He wished somehow she hadn't heard it, but it was necessary. Today would be the last day of rough riding, if everything was going to schedule (not like I want to take over the trip or anything, it just seems like it's about time we got there is all) they would be near the entrance by nightfall.
Blore emptied the plates, and gave Lava some seconds. He kissed her hand lightly, setting another plate of food down before her. the dark rings around her eyes told him more than he wanted to know.
He cleaned out the rest of the tents, not leaving a trace of anythig that showed they had ever been here. He put out the fire with a bucket of lake water. Giving it a second thought, he ordered all of the buckets, canteens, and other water holding things to be filled up. They wouldn't see water for a long time, they needed all they could get.
Lava had finished, Blore carefully walked her horse over to her.
"Come on now, you just sleep if you need it. I am trying your horse to my camel, you don't have to do a thing, ok?"
The party seemed ready. Tents were down, trash was gone, even the burnt logs of the fire were floating across the lake. It was all taken care of.
Blore walked up to Robert, elbowing him. He gave the man a bright smile.
Way to go," he whispered, and walked Lava's horse to his own camel.
As soon as everyone was ready, Blore gave the singal and they were off. The sun shined on them, from the right. He nodded towards it. Another wonderous day.

Robert

Robert dejectedly secrured his staff on Djed's saddle, when he suddenly felt someone's elbow punshing his side. Turning around he saw Blore.
Robert was about to speak his mind about the little bit of trumpet symphony, but Blore just grinned and said "Way t go, man" before slipping over to Lava's horse.
Robert looked at him for a while, puzzled--and then blushed crimson as he realized what he'd meant.

Oh gods, does the whole camp know about...last night

Wincing with guilt inside, Robert turned to Violet.
She did not look at him...on purpose?

Robert sighed and climbed upon Djed's back.

Violet

I kept my eyes straight ahead, tomorrow we'd be there and the real adventure would begin. I avoided looking at Robert if I did my body would melt again and that's the last distraction I needed. The ride was hard and long and lunch was eaten on the run, dried food. By end of day I was stiff and tired, all I wanted was a bath and bed. I rubbed back of neck and decided I could always get a nice bath in morning. Or the way sky looked maybe a freak storm. Right now I'd just about kill for a shot of tequila and a backrub.

lava

(Good, I thought my thread would die, we just need to put it on hold...or...cause I really want to have ideas for the opening of the tomb and such, maybe just make this ooc, for christmas week, giving ideas of how you all want this story to go. But until friday, it continues....)

I sleepily nodded. I was so tired and dazed I felt like a fool, but it couldn't be helped, I didn't know if he wanted me to ride with him, or to ride Lucky. So I just stood there, like an idiot, some leader I am. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I took a sip of water. Spitting it out as I remembered the little episode yesterday. My hands were trembling, but I kept asking myself WHAT the hell is wrong, I'm supposed to be a strong independant individual. A woman, even....'hear me roar' if that is how you want to put it. But I felt uneasy, there was a presence about us (THAT is cue for ranajja). I poured some water into my hand and splashed it over my face, still cold and crisp. My cheeks flushed pink as I toweled my face off with a towel from my sadal bag. I hoisted myself onto LUcky. Everyone was sort of bustling around. "I apologize." I said to the whole group, "for my lack of enthusiasm, these last months have been trying for me, I have some issues that needed to be addressed before, but I didn't, but the journey continues, I have a few more clues as where to go. We should be there in say..." I bit my lower lip thinking, "before nightfall, Is that correct Vincent?" I smiled.

Blore wasn't satisfied with lunch at all. Dry food stuffs, it tasted like cardboard cow dung covered in mayo. He wanted to puke, but out in the desert a person could dehydrate quickly. They didn't have enough water to go puking it up if it wasn't up to par. He choked the stuff down.
Lava didn't look herself at all. She was pale, and even acted nice around everyone. She just apologized, Blore shook his head, Lava never apologized for anything. She would defend her rights up until the apocalypse, and still after it was all done not apologize.
Something was up. He hoped it didn't last, they needed her on this mission. She was the one holding it all together.
Blore whispered silently, "Please pull it together Lava."
He checked on the equipment, and made sure everyone was drinking water regularly. Out here water was a person's only chance.
Blore took a swig of his water, and put the cap back on. He was ready for another half day or so of traveling, he just hoped everyone else was.

LAVA

Everyone was saddled up, Blore looked back at me in concern, and so did Vincent. Glances from the two of them made me feel as though they were pitying me, I straightened my shoulders, cocked back my head, untied the reins from blore's camel and took the lead next to vincent. "I want to be there by sunset. Legend has it that there is a path to the tomb if you follow the lion." i pointed to the nonexistant stars in the bright morning sky.

Robert

Robert looked up at the sky, slightly surprised. He was born under the sign of the Lion himself.

Yeah, and because of that you're some kind of messiah whose coming alone will open the tomb or something like that...not getting credulous, are you Rob?

He chuckled weakly as the expedition started, into the hot desert, towards an ancient quenn as yet unknown, in a tomb full of mystery and lost knowledge...

Robert could not have been more happy---if it hadn't been for the fact that Violet seemed to ignore him.

Blore looked at Lava with a bit more pride. She seemed to at least be acting like herself more. (We're with you girl, you just go through this at your own pace)
He rode alongside each of the adventurers, asking them a few questions, and making sure they were taking their water.
He came up to Robert, and gave him a big grin. The man knew what to do, he smiled proudly. Blore moved on.
After him, Blore galloped up to Violet. She had one of the prettiest eyes he had ever seen. He rode alongside her, asking the same questions.
"Been taking enough water?"
She nodded.
"Feeling sick or anything?"
She shook her head.
Blore nodded at all of this, seemed things were going good.
"You seem tired today, you have a good sleep last night?"
She was taken off by this, but nodded again in agreement.
"Well, just make sure you don't "overexhaust" yourself. We need you to be alert tomorrow."
Blore rode forward chuckling as soon as he thought he was out of earshot. They actually were a cute couple, but he couldn't help but teasing them just a little bit.
They came to the cliffs just as the sun was about to set.

Robert

Robert took a swig from his water bottle and sighed.
He had tried to keep his mind on the actual goal of the expedition. but that hadn't proven easy, what with Bore grinning and making his stupid and embarassing remarks.

Blast that man...even if he's the only one who knows, sooner or later everyone will get what he's hinting at.

The real reason why Robert was angry at Blore, however, was that he feared Violet might be even more embarassed...

***

As Robert saw the cliffs in the evening light, he made a decision.

I can't let this plague me all the time, my attention will be needed. I've got to get this over with, one way or another...I only hope it won't be another...

He rode Djed over to Violet's camel...after gathering all his courage, he said softly "Violet?"

He saw her stiffen slightly, but though she did not turn to him, she seemed ready to listen.

"I...I wanted to give you my apologies. For this morning. I...I'm sorry, I know that I've hurt you...and I understand if you can't forgive me but...I didn't mean to hurt you, Violet. I was just so...confused, what with everything happening at all, and besides I...I'd never before...well, you know what I mean..."

Oh, wonderful Rob, just plain wonderful. Trying to make it worse?

Violet

He was apologizing for christ's sake, he was sorry it happened. She kept her back straight, all he had forgotten to say was that it wasn't that important. She shook her head, "If you are looking for forgiveness you've got it," she dismounted and gave the reins over to a grinning Blore as she headed off to stretch her legs.

OOC sorry but you were blundering so badly she's just got to take it the wrong way

Blore sighed as he put the camels together, this trip was beginning to get to him, already people were thinking he was some sort of errand boy.
He made a small fire just as the sun set in the west. Most of the camp was already set, this would be there base of operations. They wouldn't have to move everything until they were ready to go back.
Blore took out the evenings rations of food. Some salted meat, a few slices of bread, and of course water. He set them out on the long dinner table inside the meal tent.
silently he crept outside, looking at the fire.
Tomorrow would be an important day, he let a hand glide over his weapon, a very big day indeed.

Robert

Robert stared at Violet as she walked away. He had not really expected to be forgiven, but something made him think that she somehoe misunderstood him.
He almost ran after her to try and clear it out, but then he realized that that would only be annoying and embarassing to her.

Maybe...probably she had expected him to apologize that it had happened at all. But, she had wanted...

Oh stop it, this won't bring you anywhere.

Sighing, Robert went over to the rest...noticing that Blore was still grinning at him.

"Don't you have anything else to gawp at?" he snapped.

Violet

OOC besides misunderstanding certainly makes for a more interesting story line

IC

Blore grumbled about being handed the camel. I shook head I knew this was rough and tumble but I was more likely to injure the animal as I took care of it and Blore seemed the most likely bloke for the job. I tried not to think of Robert or the incredible night we shared. I focused on the adventure ahead. I wondered if Lava would finally divulge more of what she knew.

Later that night
I headed to my tent alone, then without a second thought headed to Robert's, I parted the flap and softly asked if we could talk.

Robert

ooc: definitely. Though they do break my heart ;)

ic:
Robert sat in his tent reading--making a point of not reading the book of Hathor, but a collection of Greek legends which he had somehow accidentally put into his luggage.

Suddenly Violet entered. Robert looked at her, half in shock and half with an emotion he wasn't quite able to identify himself.

"Can we talk?"

Robert felt his heart beat faster.
Don't you let any hopes arise. The higher your hopes, the greater the disappointment, remember that.

Forcing his voice to be normal, he siad "S-Sure. What is it?"

Violet

"I just wanted to apologize for being so rude." I pause gathering courage. "I guess last night was more important to me then you," I fidget and play with my rebellious hair. "anyhow I'll leave you to your reading and hope you don't think any less of me because of what happened last night." I felt breathless and began backing out of tent.

OOC didn't he leave the cult book in her tent?
