Saw the therapist today for the first time. I was surprised that a.) I liked her, and b.) she actually gave me something useful to work with (unlike the other one I saw several years ago). I was impressed enough to make another appointment. The fact that she gave me hope that maybe I'm not as beyond help as I thought was worth every dime I had to pay her.

I'm glad you found someone that feels comfortable. But know you aren't beyond help...you just need the right people in your life helping you and it sounds like you are finding just that. Good luck.

So, what do you do, when you're told, that your partner has landed on the same side of the forward slash as you in a long-ish (4+ years) D/s relationship?

Other than feel empty. At least the cat's out of the bag now, so that's good, I suppose.

I wish I had something soothing to say to help the emptiness go away. But I don't. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Hang in there.

Pets on the head...

I was thinking today about how L once cheered me up after a bad day on set. I'd made a totally rookie mistake, something that, in retrospect, was obvious but I overlooked in the moment. He didn't give me the old "pet on the head", the "I'm so sorry, don't worry about it, everything will be fine" type of comfort. He didn't hug me while I cried. He said, matter-of-factly, "Let me tell you about some of the fuck ups others have made over the years." He then went on to describe, in detail, some massive and embarrassing mistakes made by senior stunt people, many of whom I admired.

That snapped me out of it.

I realized today that that is exactly the type of cheering up/encouragement I thrive on when I'm down. Pets on the head and hugs are nice but they do very little to get me through bad times.

I also realized that I often forget that pets on the head and hugs and soothing (non-specific) words are exactly what many other people do need to cheer them up. Which explains why I rarely offer them.

Hm.

Wait, what? You make mistakes? OMG, I'm devastated! The picture of Keroin perfection I've carried in my mind - and my saved photos - is false? Oh, the humanity!

I think I'm a blend of this. I usually snap out of the humdrums when I think about how good my life actually is compared to what others have gone through. But I also respond when, in the early stages of the humdrums, people simply acknowledge that life is sometimes just hard. I first wrote: "Unfortunately, dual responses are a fact of my life...it gets exhausting sometimes living in my head." But upon editing I think that it's actually fortunate that I have dual responses to some things because in some regards I get to experience the benefits of both kinds of things.

My life is like a very long Mr Bean episode.

Ha, this just made me think of the time the cats locked L and me out of our truck. (Sorry, feeling extra blurty this morning).

We were on our way back from Baja, somewhere in Oregon. It was pissing rain and cold and we were just getting ready to hit the road for the day. L decided he better check the dirtbike trailer tires one more time - since we'd had some problems; I came out with him. We left the truck running, to warm up. The two cats were loose in the cab, as usual.

We check the tire and come back to find we are now locked out. In the rain. Turns out one of the kitties "accidentally" stepped on the lock. We'd left the window cracked open a smidge, so we found a stick and tried to press down on the lock button with that. The cats thought the dancing stick was the Best Game Ever! They did their best to grab it away from the lock.

So there we were, soaked and freezing while our cats skittered about playfully in the warm dry truck.

Finally, we figured out that the back vent window was unlocked. We managed to pry it open and reach the lock and let ourselves in.

A very Mr Bean moment. :D

I love the quotes around accidentally. We all know there was nothing accidental about it...

I feel like hell.

I have some unknown sickness that came on Monday night and keeps alternating between getting a little better and a little worse, but won't either go away or hit me so hard that I can sleep it off. Sore throat, difficulty swallowing. Tuesday morning, my lymph nodes were so swollen that I couldn't tilt my head to look down. Lots of pressure in the ears, but no real sinus congestion or runny nose. Sore and achy all over and an unhappy tummy at times.

I have no idea what it is, but I do wish it'd go the fuck away. :(

I feel like a spring (ok technically, autumn) clean of my house and life.
It's a beautiful day here and perfect for it.

Yesterday seemed to be a day full of goodbyes.

I wish I had bananas

That's like my recent adventure of getting locked out of the house when I popped out back to hang a load of laundry before leaving for work. I eventually borrowed a step stool from the neighbors, found an unlocked window, and tipped myself through... did I mention I was already dressed for work [= was wearing a dress and heels]?

Thought it went into bronchitous, but no, it's not that bad apearently, even though I have been coughing up a lung.

What, you aren't sharing with the rest of your av admirers? :(

She offered to trade an honest laugh. ;)

Let me introduce you to the lovely Brook Anthony who will explain to you how to make a fluffernutter in ridiculously excessive detail...referencing science...and even offer you a 'fluffer taco"... What she won't do.. is TOAST it.

I seriously question the credentials of your wine pairing friend Julia...

Hmmm. I'm looking for a good fluffer.

I had delicious sushi and red ginger from the back of my freshly excercised and showered honey while she recounted her law lectures. I am thankful for my fortune.

[Makes mental note to put a remote camera in your neighbor's back yard  ]

I've been sitting here for an hour trying to decide to get up and go out and get stuff done....Mom called and asked if I wanted to go out...problem solved :D

I hate feeling confused. It makes me feel scared.

I just have to trust that what will be, will be. And I'm strong enough to deal with it.
