No, someone who doesn't know me can mispronounce it a time or two and I'll correct them -gently-. My ire is towards people who have known me since I was born and STILL do it.

That make sense?

I have this problem all the time. My name is a shorter version of a common latin name, but people will use the longer one ALL THE TIME. Even when they're reading it. My last name is a bit tricky on its own, but when people say it wrong despite being corrected REPEATEDLY, it makes me wrathful that my boy's last name isn't much easier :p I am cursed. DOOMED :[

#4 (R) is 9, # 5 (W) will be 7 next month.

I still call #5 R, and #4 W. But it isn't really an issue given that they have me (Mom)- my first name starts with an M, their step-mother's name starts with M (they've known her since the youngest was one), and my best friend (closest thing to an Aunt/third mother they will ever have - also someone they've all known from infancy) is also an M name.

So as often as I go "R! Shoot! I mean W!", they go "M (step-mom)? I mean... M? Wait, that's ___ (my best friend). Mom?" And ya know what? It's okay. Not every kid on the planet has [for all intents and purposes] three moms, just like not every kid on the planet has so many siblings their mom has to do a role call top to bottom to remember everyone's birthdays/how old/who's who. LOL

My first name is the name of a province in France, or if you like a type of quiche ;)

However my father spelled it totally different and if I had a dollar for every time I've had to spell my name I'd be a millionaire

My kids have simple names but my daughter's can be spelled any one of about 4 ways (with a y, ee, i or ie on the end which pisses her off sometimes). She'll definitely be thinking of simple names for her own child when it arrives - I heard she likes the name James but I've seen it spelled Jaymz (poor kid who has to go through life like me correcting everyone on the spelling of his name!)

This name thing has me laughing. My name is very simple but can be spelt a number of different ways, people always write it wrong then get that annoyed look when you spell it for them.

But the real reason I hate my name theres some horrible words that rhyme with it and it really scarred for me life the teasing I got from school.

I used to work in a call centre and we would have competitions on the worst names, it was called the parents who REALLY hated their kids when they named them awards. The pronounced totally differently to how they were spelt and just spelt wrong for the hell of it names.

My surname never gets pronounced correctly.

I actually like the other pronunciations better though, they make me sound much more exotic :D

OH OH OH!! *jumps around waving hand* I know I know! I think I know...I have a guess. I think it might be my middle name. Does it start with an L?

LOL. I've always wanted to change my name so that it has a "qph" in the middle. Then, when I corrected people's spelling, and they looked at me in utter confusion, I would say, (with a very serious expression), "Oh, the q, the p and the h are silent".

Just for kicks. :D

LOL yes it does :D

*WIN* :D

Unrelated Mini-rant: I really do not appreciate people trying to guilt me into things. I know I am missing the wedding of a good friend from growing up. It is sad. Don't tell me to just "push back" the date for when I go see my boy in Australia. For one, I'm not flying there from the States, but from an entirely different continent. It would cost me, literally, thousands of dollars and the loss of thousands more to change my flight plans. For another, the wedding is smack dab in the middle of a very important externship with very busy people that take a lot of students throughout the year. I can't just reschedule it. So don't give me the "oh but you're her BEST FRIEND" line. We were best friends. We're still fond of the times we shared. But we hardly converse any more. We've grown apart in time and space. No wedding (even my own!!) is worth the monetary and career sacrifice I'd have to make to make this wedding, that I can only attend the reception of anyways, because the wedding itself is in a LDS temple.

SHOVE YOUR GUILT TRIP UP YOUR BUTT

okay i feel better now. Thank you :D

All my buttons are being pushed in tasty, tasty ways at the moment.

It's driving me crazy, but in good ways.

I've had a dreadful holiday. I was really looking forward to it too.

Feeling a bit off; got a headache but hoping that the lemsip will kick in and work its magic and help me sleep too.

No chocolate tomorrow. Comfort eating and drinking isnt the way to go.

My youngest brother and I share a first initial and to this day my mother will often call me by his name if we're together in person. It only bothers me when she corrects herself and tries one of my sisters' names instead.

My last name is not easily pronounced, even though it's pretty short. My family uses an Anglicized pronunciation of a French name so the pronunciation is somewhat counter-intuitive. But it does bug me when people who have known me for five years or more still get it wrong. It makes me think that they must not be paying attention to anything but themselves.

Yeah, my grandmother mixes me and my mother up all the time. Sometimes when she's really confused, she'll also throw in my aunt's name before getting to mine.

Apparently though, my mother and I are very similiar. I get called June all the time. Last time was at the supermarket when I was visiting them, and the woman corrected herself 'no not June. June's daughter.'

People often forget my name, but they know who my family is.

Well this certainly fits in with that flight

pieces dont fit

need tea and a ginger nut

I'm pretty much over getting pm's from non-posting, no profile having, newly registered people.

Annoying...
