There's only been one person in my life that's consistently pronounced my name correctly, and that was my cousin Chris.

My name is Megan. m-E-gan.

When people say my name, they always say Magen. May-gen. My name is MEG-ann.

May-gen and Meg-ann are two completely different names. The next time someone called me May-gan I'm ignoring them.

What does it matter? If they were mispronouncing it purposefully, to annoy you, that would be insulting, I suppose, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. So other people's linguistic abilities are not as honed as yours, so what?

I have a good friend named Megan who pronounces her name "May-gen". So that would be my first instinct if I came across someone else with that name.

My name has unconventional spelling as well. My mom didn't like the traditional way of shortening it, so she spelled it in order to make another "nic-name" possible....It didn't catch on. So people spell my name incorrectly and call me by the traditional shortening of it anyway.

My last name people never get right in anyway.
