Yeah the job thing is a pain. I've struggled a bit financially and in other ways since the divorce and am so proud of myself that I managed to climb out of the deep hole I was in and find and furnish my house. I am so happy where I am, but if I don't get a job soon....I lose my home. Though not without a fight.

Yup... Evidently you are supposed to ask... Or to just expect things that require a lot of free cash, and time.

Lol yeah...sometimes I love that London is touristy. It makes me feel like I'm on my hols listening to all the languages. Other times its a real pain in the butt, trying to get around with all the crowds.

*makes mental note in future to ask to see copies of bank statements and diary dates* that sucks eh
 
I missed the "have to be rich to be a Dom" post..I hope y'all aren't talking about my joke in Doll_parts thread. I would hate for someone to think I thought Doms had to be wealthy. Mine certainly isn't!

If I have to be awake at this hour, I might as well make some money from my misery. I'm gonna work until my my body *makes* me go to sleep, whether my mind is ready or not. It'd be more fun to sit and play in here, but I'll just earmark whatever I make over the next couple of hours toward the 9/1 fund. :D That ought to cover a night at a reasonably clean hotel.

Oh boy, I really get to understand the term 'double Dutch' more and more each day. I drive for 30 years accident and fine free in a country where my licence is held by the Dutch as being higher quality than their own, and under much tougher conditions and heavier, more hazardous traffic and worse roads (oh as well as various countries in Europe from the first day I arrived)....go for a driving test after months of lessons to learn how to drive 'the Dutch way', return from the test where it became more and more obvious he was trying to get me to make a mistake, which I didn't...then return to the centre to be told he was failing me even though he considered me to not be a danger on the road, to be an excellent driver, and not to have made one mistake and even said I averted some bad situations many wouldn't have handled so well. Then he had to think for a couple of minutes on what grounds he was going to fail me and the best he could come up with was he feels it better I don't get my licence this time because he could see I remembered to look at all traffic etc., while driving, and looked well and took everything into account while so doing, but I shouldn't do it because I remembered to do it. :confused:

Apparently I have to learn to not do it because I remember to do it.....duh, I've been looking while driving for 30 years, that's why I am still accident free and alive!! Oh, and this was also from someone who claimed my passport was expired and invalid even though it says in B&W it doesn't expire until 2012, and I have been travelling on it back and forth between Oz as well as across Europe without any problems!! He wasn't going to test me because of that, but fortunately being the extra thinking being I am, I had other forms of ID (Dutch ones) with me which I produced and which meant he had to accept and go forward with the test. Am I paranoid to believe he decided to fail me before even starting the test...and strangely didn't even have a noteboard or anything to take notes on which I am told they usually do while testing? All I can do is laugh, it's just too stupid to do anything else. F isn't so cool about it though and swears he is going to lodge an official complaint....me, I just want to go again and not be blacklisted for complaining. Have to admit, many Dutch people had warned me this could happen for any number of reasons including my being a woman, not Dutch, age, experienced, or just if the testing officer is in a bad mood...apparently they are all accepted reasons for failing people. :rolleyes: Oh well, rant over!!

I would be flipping !!!!
No clipboard, no notes, no test sheet???
one word: DISCRIMINATION!!!
I would go back & speak to the supervisor.
"Request" a retest with a different tester.
If I couldn't get satisfaction from that I would go up anther step.
I would be fighting this tooth & nail C !!!!!

LOL, everyone here (Dutch) is more upset about it than I am..I have been flooded with gifts this afternoon....I was ready for it partly because I just felt it in my bones and then when he couldn't refuse to test me due to lack of ID, he was trying to get me to jump through hoops one after the other for 45 minutes and I didn't stuff anything up, so I still felt he was going to fail me. What amazes me is he was stupid enough to tell me I am not dangerous on the road and an excellent driver, after saying he was failing me!! F told me I am taking my mini taperecorder next time so I can back up what is said if need be. The only 2 questions he asked while doing the test were how long had I been in the country and did I have a job. Even my instructor, though he wouldn't compromise himself by saying it openly, knew it was a crock because he worked out how many weeks he is going on holidays next month, how many weeks I am hoping to be in Oz in the next couple of months, and then told me to take 2 -3weeks off lessons and said, 'so that means you will have about 9-10 weeks where you don't need to take lessons and then just do 1 or 2 before we go again for the test'...if he believed I had problems he would have been signing me up real quick for weekly lessons so it was nice to know he has confidence in me.

I just find it amazing this is accepted behaviour in a supposedly developed and advanced country....now all I have to do is work out how not to remember to remember to look which they say is the most important thing, and still look. :rolleyes: LOL, and he kept telling me I wouldn't be used to driving in these conditions with so much traffic seeing I come from Oz...dunno, I drove daily in peak hour traffic in a city of almost 2 million which F tells me is bigger than Amsterdam, and when I got my licence there 30 years ago they had already been using indicators in traffic for a long time, whereas here I am told it has only been law to use indicators for 15 years and that is why so many still do not use them!! Go figure.

Oh well, at least it saved me from one frustration....I got told by my instructor that even if I had been passed today, they have recently changed the laws here so I still would not have a licence until another week had passed and then I would be eligible to go to the local council (nowhere near the testing centre...whole different city) and apply to be given my licence. Apparently it used to be the next day, but they said that wasn't working well so they make you wait a week now...not working? What is that about?!!

Edited to add....F has told me next time I can and will tell the testing officer who he works for. The thought did cross my mind today, but I wasn't sure he would want me to. Apparently he is so mad he is more than happy for me to drop it in conversation and says if I do it a soon as the test starts, he wouldn't be surprised if they take me around the block and back with a huge passing grade. This could be so fun to do!! ;)
