Some one just beat me until I can't move please. Then I can call in sick tomarrow right?
True, but wouldn't they "hear" the smile on your face as you made the call? ;)

Edited just to say:

*Big hugs for the Mouse*

Y'all I'm frustrated and angry, just forget I said anything, and I'll avoid wine and chocolate in favor of working too hard or something.

Something That Really Pisses Me Off:

A little background first--I have social anxiety disorder. I have never been formally diagnosed, which is about to change, since I've decided I'm sick of living with this monster on my back all the time, but that's neither here nor there at the moment. I always try to be kind in my dealings with people, but I am not and never have been the friendly, bubbly, overly outgoing personality type that everybody thinks is so damned wonderful. I'm pretty sure I come off as very shy and introverted to the generous and standoffish and somewhat bitchy to the not-so-generous. I am the kind of person who has to give myself a pep talk just to force myself to go to my classes. In fact, school started today (well, yesterday now, I guess, since it's after midnight), and I'm still not registered for classes because, since April, I haven't summoned up the courage to go talk to my advisor yet. (Forcing myself to do it tomorrow; don't worry.) Now, on to what pisses me off.

I am perfectly aware of the fact that I'm unusually quiet. You do not have to point it out to me. You really aren't the first person to ever notice. It has long since ceased to be a fucking novelty to me. It gets tiring after a while, not to mention the fact that you pointing it out makes me even more self-conscious of my unusual introversion. When I become even more self-conscious than I already fucking am, I become even quieter than I already fucking am. So for all your witty little "Why are you so quiet?" and "Why don't you ever say anything?" comments, you are only making my problem worse. Could you be any more damned insensitive?

Furthermore, I am extremely uncomfortable with someone in my personal space. Getting up in my face and rambling on about something that I don't give a shit about just because you're uncomfortable with my lame attempts at small talk isn't helping, either. You may think you're being friendly. I think you're being pushy and obnoxious. Is it really so hard for you to just shut the fuck up and leave me alone until I'm comfortable talking to you?

That was long for a blurt. I'm sorry.

I don't have social anxiety disorder, but I can relate to your post. There are also times I've felt shy or moody or whatever, and I can't stand when people give me shit about it. For example, in recent weeks, I would get "just relax." Are you kidding me? I'm getting separated. I am not going to be able to relax for a long time. Gimme a break!

I've finally been able to get to the point where I just say, ya know, I am what I am. Deal with it or piss off. It's your choice. That said, I know you can't always, or even often, talk yourself down from anxiety.

Recently, I've heard a Kelly Clarkson song, parts of which have brought to my mind several people here who I happen to like... and the thought has been that I hoped that regardless of what has happened in their lives recently, this would not be their song.

Excerpts from "Because of You," Kelly Clarkson

....

Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
....

I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
Because of you.
....

Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid

Because of you.

To those of you who have come to my mind (some of you know who you are; others may not) when I hear this song, I hope you will "keep the faith," especially in yourselves.
