I used to hang out in the next down over from my hometown on weekends when I was still in high school. It was Redneck Central. The only thing to do was drive up and down the "strip" (which was maybe 1/2 mile long) and around the courthouse. People would stop on the side of the road to talk, and you drove around, looking for folks you knew. When you found people you knew, you stopped to talk. This was the highlight of everyone's week.

One night, Kitty and I were driving around (in my Firebird, to be super-rednecky), and we beheld such a sight that we still laugh at it to this day. There were three or four guys sitting on the tailgate of a truck in the middle of the square. This, in and of itself, is not really funny. But... they were all barefooted, wearing overalls with no shirts, and one was even wearing a straw hat. One was playing a guitar, one was playing a fiddle, and the other was playing a banjo. I looked at Kitty and said, "Only in xxxx County!"

One of the funniest damn things I ever saw. Your post made me think of that.

I grew up in your sister state of Mississippi in the same small town environment. We cruised the 'strip' from Hardee's to Piggly Wiggly ... and just like you .... stopped whenever we passed someone we knew on Main Street. We used to have guys that would cruise town in a pickup truck with lawn chairs in the bed, and other guys sitting in those lawn chairs as they cruised. Life was great back then. So simple. So innocent. We didn't know how good we had it.

Master Gil is in hospital....His dialysis fistula clotted yesterday...it has to be unblocked so He can dialyse...they have had to put a cath in His groin it is oozing blood and it's painful but it's the only access right now. They couldn't get one into His neck like He had before

We don't know if they can fix it or not....we don't know what the options are yet....He is in pain, nauseous and very pissed off with Himself....He will be in for at least a week no surgery until Wednesday He needs an ultrasound before that and it's the bloody weekend....I am tired and stressed and look and feel like hell....worried to death, not eating regular....shit shit SHIT!!![/end rant]

We have been through things like this before and we've survived, we will do it this time too....I will try to get some sleep tonight there's plenty of pills here if I get desperate (only pain killers but pretty strong ones) also a bit of pot lol

Ohh Bandit darling, I am so sorry to hear about this development with your Master Gil. As you said, you have been through worse and surpassed things with flying colors. It's tough being in your position for a multitude of reasons. I hope you get some sleep, it's an investment. You know too well that the better you care for yourself the better you present to serve him. I am always in awe of the standards you set Miss Bandit. Get some sleep, seize the day tomorrow. Before you know it he will be home, crisis resolved and this will seem like a distant memory.

*smiles* I have been good.....I ate lunch at the hospital (there was a spare tray) it was some kind of stew with rice, pumpkin and butter beans surprisingly it tasted quite good (or was it that I was starving having raced to the hospital early - 6.15am - to take Master's meds up to Him). I came home about 1pm, had a rest, had a snack, and went back to the hospital about 6pm. Came home at 9, cooked a meal (lamb chop and veges) and am about to have a shower and try to sleep.

Thank you everyone for your messages of support, it really does mean a lot when your family is in another country and all your friends live miles away. Lit and my Lit friends have saved my sanity on many occasions - THANK YOU
