I'm sitting here, at two in the morning, waiting for the vicodin to kick in. Why? Cause I had a chance to make some extra money, under the table and I took it. A friend of a friend is the manager at this really nice restraunt. That restraunt was going to be hosing a HUGE company dinner, and needed some extra staff just for that dinner. My best friend hired on as waitstaff, but I couldn't do that cause their was stairs involved, but they did need a dishwasher. (Normally the waiters and waitress' take turns doing the dishes, but they were all needed onthe floor tonight.)
So I spent eight hours on my feet doing dishes (and other assorted things when I didn't have any dishes). Evidently I'm an awesome dish washer. On the negative side, I'm remembering why I was declared disabled and told not to do too much standing. I'm having calf cramps. My back hurts so bad I can't even bend in the slightest bit, and we won't go into how much my knees hurt. On the other hand it was totally worth it. They split tips at this place, so I'll be getting some of the tips, and I'm told by the regular staff that after tips and regular pay you get about $20 an hour.
On the other hand the owner is . . . well she needs to take some stress handling classes. She spent most the evening screaming at people. I found out later that the staff on the top floor were secretly doing shots of vodka to keep from KILLING her. I know the manager snuck me some chocolate for being so patient with her.
