The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

sorry to hear of your loss, S.G... anyone who's lost a much-loved dog will know they were more than that: they were family. Knowing you gave your friend a good life is something to remember when you're missing her too deeply. :rose:

that was one heck of a mowing session... over 2 hours. My fingers are still 'buzzing' from all the engine vibrations and I think I'm wearing enough debris to start a fire!

Yeah, I’ve had that finger buzzing thing happen after a long mowing session…

I got an extra buzz the last time I mowed…when I happened to run over a rather large snake with the mower….

😳

The noise was horrible, the vibrations were harsh, and the sight and smell was nasty.

🤮

omg... I almost hit one in the session but saw it frozen and looking so was able to tilt my foot and reverse just in time with maybe 6" to spare. It was one of those black racers, probably only 4' long and slender. I've encountered them a couple of times in the long grass and they really can zoooooooooooooooooooooooom!

made a couple of strawberry and blueberry pies today and where it got so warm (about 90 out there) decided to take a sly nap. As I waited to sleep, all the different wildlife that visit our yards went through my head, stuff I'd mostly never seen except in captivity back in the UK: deer; coyote; opossum; raccoon; groundhog; rabbits; squirrels; snapping turtles; 3 or more types of snake; various lizards, toads & frogs; herons; yuge butterflies; at least 4 types of bee; hummingbirds; tons of other birds and bugs... a lot of stuff. no moose, though.

The one I hit was a garter snake about 4' long and pretty thick. Never saw it. I’ve hit sticks and stones that have given me a bit of a shake and a start, but that snake rattled (no pun intended?) me good.

😳

I cut my hair and I love how short it is. I'm ready for summer to sweat it's way on through.
I am so tempted to follow your example. The heat and humidity here means I wear my hair up almost all year round anyway, and that extra ton of hair piled on top in the summer might keep my neck less hot but makes my entire head hotter!

I kept my m.i.l company in church again on sunday and was absolutely gobsmacked by the long-standing, well-respected church members that were a mid-life couple in the row ahead of us, in a front row: the entire service (bar the standing/singing bits) they spent bent over their phones, giggling and sending eachother funny vids! :poop:

You only have to show up on Sunday to be a Christian.

temps outside read just a whisker shy of 100 degrees. fuck me... and the humidity *melts*

H's son drove him to his hospital follow up appointment; the hospital kept H in overnight and will do a skin graft tomorrow. The graft was expected, not the timing but it makes good sense. Apparently H was a bit grumpy about it all but that's not unexpected. :coffee:
