The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

wire fencing but bent over like a tunnel and I block off the ends. Use it on most the veggies as they're starting off just to keep the rabbits from eating the new growth. Once things are established and less likely to get damaged, I lift them off. Wire fencing around one lot of green beans still but not as a cage; another few weeks I can lose that, too.
Do you have cats?

My cats like to pounce on anything in the backyard.

She’s the only woman to ask me about what kind of music my parents listened to when I was growing up.

so... yesterday's plan for the veggie garden changed 100%: instead, I decided H was right, yes, let me repeat that "H was RIGHT" about me planting the peppers in a spot where they'd not get enough sun despite the carrot foliage getting burned to shit for 2 years running (in the more east of the beds). SO I forked, cleaned out the weeds and roots of the row with the toms in; this was the original spot I'd intended to plant the peppers. Made up 5 cosy, deep, soft beds for them and then (one at a time) carefully lifted the plants, making sure to keep a soil ball bigger than their root growth intact so as to least disturb them. Transplanted, supports puck back in place and plants watered. That sun got hot fast!

I should go back out later and mow more. We'll see. H's follow-up appt's not till June 2nd and I've already had to redress his leg where they took the skin from because it all came loose and now, just a few minutes ago a great wad of wet padding from his shoulder dressing fell out onto the floor as he walked to the bathroom  I had to very carefully place more sterile gauze pads up inside from underneath where the tape had unstuck (not being able to see what I was doing) and tape it closed again. It's gonna be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggg 10 days. Sterile pads, gauze and tape added to the shopping list :coffee::poop:

Sounds like you’re really shouldering a heavy workload right now. Don’t overdo it, or there will be another one in the household needing homecare.

😳

Side question:

The hospital didn’t send a bunch of gauze, sterile pads, and tape home with you???

🤔

I'm fine :) I try and cram the outdoors stuff in before things get too hot for me to venture out except for early mornings and evenings so that's always busy.

actually, no, they didn't... some tape and a few sterile pads from his first surgery (nowhere near as much as we ended up needing) but nothing from the second. H tends to fall a fair bit and is always tearing himself up outdoors so we generally have stuff to hand.

So you get to play “Dr. butters, Medicine Woman” fairly often then.

Does Harry compensate you with beaver pelts, or does he pay in chickens???

🤔

Dumb question; it’s obviously chickens (and an occasional rooster).

😳

🤣

R.I.P dear coffee machine :(

what an awkward time to give up the bloody ghost, honestly!

The rain can stop any day now.

Damn Omega Block weather pattern exacerbated by climate change.

If I recall correctly, you live near Maine, no???

🙁

Fortunately, I believe the Block is about to shift to the east, so you should get a break soon. (Of course, then you might get too little rain and too much heat…

😑

Didn’t even get your morning cuppa???

🤔

🙁
reheated leftover coffee in the pot and then brewed a glass jugful of fresh using heated water and coffee, strained into his mum's cup through a coffee filter paper sitting in an old tea strainer, lol.

this last machine did really well, though: a Cuisinart, I picked it up in brand new condition from Goodwill for a mere $5 7-years ago after their old one died.
