it's all very well the plastic surgery post-op instructions saying 'do not remove dressing or get it wet; it will be removed at the next appt,' but when the damned things fall off then they have to be replaced
Had to redress his leg twice and replace fallen out gauze pads and restick his shoulder padding a couple of times before it fell right off again today, soaked and heavy. So it was a matter of antibiotic gel, fresh gauze pads and then the bigger sterile pads taped together over the top which I've taped to his skin. Will it last till Monday? I doubt it. *sigh*
on a positive note, the skin graft seems to be doing pretty well, having regained a pink colour instead of being white which shows the blood vessels have reconnected and is giving him very little pain, not compared to the area they stripped the skin from.

The hospital wide tapes lasted even shorter times than the 'redos'. It's an awkward spot, covering the entire scapular from the very top of his shoulder down to the bottom of the scapula and running from his upper arm, past the armpit and across to his spine.
