The joy of pressing PUBLISH

Yeah, you did.

Thankfully today is publish day so I only check my phone 200 times to watch the readership metric go up.
Ooh, ooh, my story's getting published tomorrow! (hey, it's been nearly an hour since I last checked its Pending status).

I can stop hitting Refresh until 7am...

I remember late 70s being explained that NYC cabs were driven by any guy who had just landed in the country and borrowed one, so if they knew how to read a map or spoke any English, that was a bonus. My mum shouted directions and pointed the right way.

I'm guessing the regulation of who drives the cab a particular medallion is awarded for is pretty much impossible to enforce.

It's been 5 long months for me, but about 1-2 weeks away from pushing it again. I am feeling that old feeling in the pit of my stomach again
It’s a great feeling. Unusually I’m still writing this one but it’s really got me buzzing.

I mentioned that New York (in the late 1980's?) eventually imposed a training requirement of about a month to be paid for by the applicants themselves. Before that there were no regulations per se. People just showed up and drove for a week, a year, or ten years. We talked about how London has almost the opposite in that it does have strict requirements.

Everybody has GPS now, so that helps. (Paper maps are disappearing.) The Uber and Lyft apps have the route built into the system based on the origin and destination of the passenger.

Looks like it went live today.

May your readers be kind and your one bombs stay away.

Thank you VERY much for that. Always appreciated, however they didn’t.

1-4-5.

BUT I got a ❤️ on a chapter from my first story so I’ll take that as a win.

Six hours in, 2 favourites and 2 five-star votes (not from me!). Nice. Under 500 views, though.

Here if anyone wants to read 8k words of a MMF threesome.

A couple instances of italics cocking up the spacing around words, but otherwise it's come out OK.

Over a month to get my Geek Pride story done - it's not quite halfway and not sure quite how to work it. Or I could play around with the other couple dozen drafts...

Well, you had a better time than me, but that’s the nature of this business of show…sometimes you get the audience…sometimes the audience gets you.

Well done on your scores. 👏👏👏

The first 12 hours are pretty meaningless as I bet these are a couple of my Followers who would most likely vote 5 or not at all on anything I wrote. And under 10 votes is still meaningless.

Once more people wake up and happen to find the story, we'll get regression to the mean. It's not a literary masterpiece, just something I wanted to get out of my system.

That’s true. Once I heard most accidents occur in the home, I made plans to move. 😜
Living in the street is even more dangerous, although living in your car is probably somewhere in the middle between houses and streets. You could avoid bathtubs by standing on the bathroom mat and giving yourself a sponge bath. That's going to take a while, however.

In any case, no matter how careful I am, I'm still going to "pass" by the year 2099, or actually much earlier than that. :(

I know what you mean and I have another in the pipeline.
My top story has 137,000 views.
It's definitely a bit of a thrill even though we do it for nothing.
If you write the way I do, then you imagined yourself as one of the story characters as you wrote.
So, if reading your story has titillated readers, then in a sense it is that character (you) who has provided the titillation, if only in the mind.

I finally did it, I squashed Submit for Publishing on the final chapter of We're a Wonderful Wife. I can always tell how much I love the story by a sad empty feeling I get knowing that I have just excluded myself from that world. We're a Wonderful Wife chapters 1 through 14 plus multiple short side stories has dominated the past 12 months totaling 445,211 words, slightly over half of the words I've submitted for publishing since April 2022.

Once the final chapter is posted and moved into the series, I'm tempted to re-edit all the chapters, just to insure that the stories are presented in an identical fashion.

And here we go…again.

Wish me luck as I check my phone every ten minutes. Ooh, 50 views!

I press publish about 10 times on a story in the space of a few hours -- something about actually publishing a story makes me hyper aware of typos and formatting mistakes

I'm like that until a week after that NEW tag disappears. I still check all of my "Children" every night and keep a spreadsheet of their progress.
Yeah, I should stop for an hour but I think it’s a really good part, 4 pages, 5 sex scenes, more plot and character development and mystery in there too.

I don’t expect it to break the bank for views as a part 5 but still, I’m pretty pleased with the balance on this one.
