The King and his Thief (Closed for cnuvenu)

As they slowly made love she found herself, losing herself in the moment. A hand against his back. A hand brushing his side. Slow gradual motions which as pleasure began to swell the two began to move quicker together.

Emma's hands gripping his, and William chose to pin them above her head. A moment with sweeter kisses, and the torment of his chest rubbing those nipple piercings. Moans muffled by his mouth, and her tongue ring tickling as they deeply kissed.

Quicker, deeper, harder those movements of both ...

As their passions peaked their bodies moved as one carrying them closer and closer to the edge until they reached their crescendo. Each's body trembled against the other's as they cried out in ecstasy.

William rolled to Emma's side and held her tight there under the stars.

A not too distant sound of wood cracking sent them both jolting upright and gathering their clothes. They listened intently scanning the tree line just past the brook as they quietly dressed.

Emma went for her long knife and after a second of seeing William was still dressing, she slipped off into the night with the ease of someone who was used to the night and its embrace, she had been a thief.

Thankfully the time with her Father before his death had given her enough preparation and her own time alone since had simply added to it. Thus as she went creeping off, she came across a wild buck there in the woods. lowering the long knife she watched it while it was frozen from the sound it made.

Then she came creeping back to see if William was still there.

From her perch on the limb the figure watched as the sound of the limb snapping sent the two figures scrambling. She watched silently as they drew their weapons and set off in search for her. She had little concern they'd find her. From her observations thus far they seemed competent in the woods but hardly expert hunters or trackers.

Shortly after Emma disappeared into the tree line across the brook William split off to the other side and crossed the brook to cover the other flank of where the sound seemed to come from. With his sword poised he crept into the brush silently looking and listening for signs of movement.

Making his way halfway to the hilltop he crouched and remained silent for several moments until the sight of a buck making it's way between the trees caught his attention. He let it pass then returned to the camp to find Emma had already arrived back.

"Just a buck I think." he said as he carefully stepped across the stones keeping his feet dry.

William and Emma settled back in keeping a keen ear towards the woods as they lay silently.

As Emma settled in she lent in. Making it look like she was kissing his neck, as she very low whispered. "We've company watching us. Up a tree. Spotted a footprint." She hoped he'd not freak out. Then she kissed there.

While she was listening, very intently to hear if there was any more movements.

William gave a low grunt of acknowledgement as she kissed him. The thought of someone watching from a tree didn't concern him terribly. He'd reasoned if whoever it was meant them harm they'd missed their opportunity while he and Emma were previously distracted.

With someone lurking though, he knew there would be no rest for them though. Reaching over he pulled his sword closer then kissed Emma's neck while whispering. "Try to get a little sleep. I'll keep watch for a while then wake you in a bit." The thought of calling out whoever was there crossed his mind but he decided against that for the moment.

He knew she probably wouldn't be able to but he at least thought he'd try.

He'd easily read worry in her eyes. He was her King. There was an unknown out there. She couldn't protect him if she was sleeping. Now whether he'd realise his new Dame, didn't want to sleep as she sought to slide her arms about him and hold him softly.

"You sure? Shouldn't you maybe sleep? I can get by with a little." Emma murmured. However, she saw that stubborn Kingly look in those eyes she adored. It made her kiss him gently and softly. Before seeking to curl up on her side, her hand curling about the handle of her dagger.

William closed his eyes and listened for movement as Emma grudgingly tried to take her shift sleeping.

As the fire began to slowly die out William heard the faint rustling of leaves. His hand gripped the handle of his sword as his heart began to race. He laid silently listening as the the slight hint of movement grew more distant until it was gone.

His fingers loosened around the handle as his muscles relaxed. The next hour brought no new signs of movement around them. He nudged Emma awake then softly whispered.

"Think whoever it was left about an hour ago. Will be dawn soon so I'm going to try to get a little sleep if you can keep take over." He would have been happy to let her sleep but his fatigue was catching up to him and he didn't want to nod off and leave them exposed.

Emma woke instantly, it was part of who she was. Waking fast when touched. There's a blink then a rub of a hand over her face. "Alright. you get to sleep."

Waiting for him to get comfortable there before she seeks to drape the blanket over him.

While he went off to sleep. I realised. Poor Kinsley would be getting in that horse-drawn carriage of things and such we needed for the next couple of nights. With himself and Brookes. Two Knights, and a Dame to protect their King.

I wasn't sure what they'd think over last night's knowledge of someone watching us, lurking about. I just knew I hadn't wanted to leave William to go find them. He wasn't bait. He was someone to protect.

William woke as the sun started to filter through the trees. After re-stoking the fire they heated what was left of the rabbit from the night before and ate before getting back on the horses for the rest of the journey.

In the morning light William and Emma went back to where she'd seen the footprints the night before. The were quite small indeed. Not nearly the size of a grown man. Following them to a tree the peered up at the limbs above. Though it was a relatively tall tree, it's limbs were quite small and didn't even seem sufficient to hold Emma's weight. Whatever had been watching them the night before was definitely quite small.

Having packed up their gear Emma and William mounted their horses and went on their way. As they arrived at their destination an expansive field of wildflowers stretched out before them before it was overtaken by dense forest. They found a spot to tie off the horses to graze rest before exploring further.

Noting how small Emma wondered what would be that small around here. She hadn't read anything about Fae being here. Were fae small? Could it be something else? With so many questions and no way to get answers, she went back with William.

Once they got the camp squared away and rode on till they spotted an expansive field. William decided they would stop here because it would be perfect for the proper camp once his Knight arrived later in the day with supplies and all.

She found herself once more setting up that bedroll for them to sit on. The horses are taken care of for now. A reach up to touch the Lariat around her throat still. "Majesty? I should give you this back, right, when we are back home?" Motioning to the length of the golden chain which was dormant right now.

Willam looked at the Lariat as she asked about returning it. Allowing her to keep it had served a purpose before but now that it was known she’d been named Dame Emma it made less sense.

“Yes, maybe so.” He said with a nod. “Never know when we may need it again. “

He wondered for a moment about what they may need it for and it occurred to him that I’m the situation they were in now might be the most likely the result in needing to use it. “Keep it handy though for now. Never when we may need it.”

Emma tilts her head a little there as she looks into William's eyes. She found herself contemplating a moment then blushing. "...are you attempting to say... you just might one of these moments ... activate it .. purely to make me a gasping squirming, mess as you uh, make love to me?"

Honestly, she had to ask there. Mostly because of what he'd said to her just then.

William couldn't help but be a little amused by the confusion. "Although I feel a little silly for not thinking of that I actually meant that it may be useful if we run across someone like our friend from last night and need to get them under control. But now that you mention it...." he said finishing with a wry smile. "I'll have to keep that in mind."

Surveying the tree line William spotted one obvious path leading into the woods. The rest was protected by thick brush. He'd reasoned that if the Thaine's had people out here the path might likely be where they'd have entered. "Let's see what's down there." he said pointing to the path. "We probably have several hours before the rest arrive so we can get started looking around."

Slinging his pack over his shoulder they entered the path and followed through the dense woods until they came to a swift running stream that cut through a shallow valley. There were obvious signs that people had camped there in the recent past. William looked around and found various discarded items including a large pan.

"Seems around here was a place of interest." he said turning to Emma.

As he corrected her she blushed a little and then slipped it off from about her neck. "Then since you know what you're doing with it, here, keep it close. Use it to protect yourself."

Looking about she noted the same things William did. A subtle exhale out. "Perhaps it means there's something around this area we could find. I just don't know if you'd prefer to wait for your Knights to be with us?"

William took the lariat from her hand and put it in his pocket. He didn't necessarily feel like he wanted her to turn it over in that very moment but he might as well have it handy just in case.

Picking up the large pan he looked it over. There were no burn marks on it so clearly it wasn't used for cooking. That's when it hit him. Taking a seat on the ground William unlaced and removed his boots then rolled up his trousers to above his knees. Picking up the pan he waded into the stream and found the largest stone he felt like he could move and rolled it to the side. Dipping the pan into the water he took a scoop of the sand and gravel that was beneath the rock and waded back to the side of the stream. Kneeling he swirled the mixture allowing the loose dirt and debris to wash out of the pan until only a small amount of sediment remained.

"Well, that probably explains it." he said walking over to Emma showing her to bottom of the pan now dotted with shiny gold flecks.

That wasn't perhaps something Emma could have thought of. But seeing William suddenly rush off, she'd stood watching him with this little smile playing against her lips.

Unaware it may just clue the King in she actually truly and honestly liked him. She wasn't actually sure he knew it. But given she slept with him still, maybe?

"That might mean there's a good chance for a mine. Yes? If I understand anything?"

“Possibly.” William said. “We at least know there is gold in the stream which likely means there are deposits elsewhere.

“Let’s get back and wait for the rest then we can explore the area more fully to see what else we can find. I can’t believe my father would have missed all this.” He said as he began to walk back up the path with Emma.

As they waited they gathered wood and started a fire for when the rest arrived. He was looking forward to getting a good nights sleep after the long night he had the night before. Perhaps a tent keeping out the bugs would be nice too.

As Emma agreed and treked back with her King to the field with flowers. They discovered Kinsley and Brookes already had the large tent set up, with the blankets and such laid about the floor, the two knights were in the process of setting up the extra bedding which would create a raised area with a double bed made of soft layered blankets and such. With pillows.

Emma shooed them off to do their own tent which was larger than usual also. While she busied herself doing the rest of it. Which was mostly bringing in a couple of chairs, setting up the folding table, and prettying it all up. Things generally the Knights would have had to do.

With the two being able to work on their own they soon had it set up and organised and looking almost as good as Emma's work on the King's tent. Then she looked up at William as he settled into a chair. "..am I sleeping beside you, do you mind? I don't want to draw any assumptions, since you are my King, and us, being intimate is in your hands."

After a pause, she added. "..just know I'm always open to intimacy with you, till you tell me. No, this is stopping."

"Of course you can stay in my tent. I just assumed you would I guess." he said looking around to see the quite luxurious camping accommodations they now had compared to the night before.

As Kinsley and Brooks finished getting them setup William called them over to brief them on what they'd found so far.

"We found what appears to be a small prospector camp down that path by a stream. Could just be someone out on their own panning for gold but it could also have been surveyors sent by the King of Thaines. What I'd like to do is explore the area more fully to see if there are any signs of larger mining operations that might have been started or possibly natural caves where deposits might be accessible."

With 4 of them they'd be able to split into groups of two and cover the ground more efficiently. After mapping out the areas they'd cover they set out to explore some more.

Naturally, the Knights split up. Brookes went with his King, while Kinsley went with Emma. Had William tried to argue with either man, in the end, he got a resolute look with determination. Before Kinsley simply said. "You might be our King, but it's our job to protect you. Especially in moments like this.

With Brooks allowing William to go before him there it would take a moment of William exploring before he heard a light sound behind him. An intake of air in a gasp. Turning he got to see a pale silvery-haired shorter female of about 5ft, beside her was a slightly shorter woman with blue-tinged hair. Both somewhat looked like the few drawings that had been seen of elves, yet they had brilliantly pale wings fluttering for a moment then folding to their backs. Wearing skimpy dresses. The silver-haired one offered a curtsey. "I am Nora and this is Petal. We're of the Fae in this here area. Are you the newest King? Our, Prince has discovered who we hope are others of your people?" Her voice was bright, musical almost.

Even as perhaps William was having his encounter. Kinsley heard a sound behind him and turned to see Emma blinking at a winged Male. His hair is a firey red while a crown of mithral and rubies rests in that hair. His wings were a pale blue, while he was bare-chested, with subtle tattoos across his flesh, his trousers seemed to be a fine spun silk make, feet bare. With him was a green-haired beauty who winked at Kinsley.

As William turned his hand went to his sword at his side ready to respond. His grip loosened immediately as his eyes fell on the two before him and judged their slight frames to be of little threat. He'd heard tales of mystical creatures but always thought them just that. Tales. No, having come face to face with them he wasn't quite sure how to respond.

"I am Nora and this is Petal. We're of the Fae in this here area. Are you the newest King? Our, Prince has discovered who we hope are others of your people?"

His thoughts immediately turned to Emma and Kinsley and their safety but he quickly reasoned if anyone was going to be harmed it would likely be him.

"I am." he said cautiously not quite sure how they'd know who he was or that he was newly crowned. "It's nice to meet you." he continued realizing one of them was likely the ones watching them the night before and that they might be encroaching on territory that maybe they shouldn't. "I'm sorry if we're in an area we shouldn't be in. Should we go find your prince?" he asked not quite sure what else to say in that moment.

Nora offered William a smile. Petal gave a wave. "We can go all them yes." She turned elegantly and began leading him back to the other two.

Meanwhile Emma composed herself. "Hello. Dame Emmaline Swansong." As she curtseyed to the one she assumed was important. Kinsley stood them beside her.

The Prince tilted his head slightly and looked hard at Emma when she introduced herself. Taking a step forward and holding out his hand he introduced himself. "Arthur, Prince of the Baywood Fae clan"

As Emma took his hand he studied her more closely for a moment before he turned to the other and shook his hand.

"Kinsley" the knight said before turning to the green haired female. "And who might you be?" he asked with bit of playfulness in his voice.

"I'm Melody" she replied brightly before raising her hand palm down allowing Kinsley to take it and kiss her hand.

The Prince seemed slightly annoyed with Melody's flirtation but brushed it aside for the moment.

"I was informed last night of your arrival in the area and I thought we should come introduce ourselves." Arthur said trying to suppress his natural suspicion of humans. "Our kind have had some bad interactions with humans recently and I thought it best we meet and try to set off on a more productive path than in the past."

As he spoke he was becoming more and more sure his suspicions were right and Emma might indeed be somehow related to Alfred Swansong who 50 or 60 years prior had caused quite a scandal when he not only bedded a human but gave her a child. He'd heard the offspring had been given his name by the mother but not much else since relations between the humans and fae deteriorated shortly there after.

Emmeline nodded slowly. "Our King William, took over reign from his Father." It was carefully said.

"However we aren't related by blood to those who surveyed our Kings land. We have however redirected their eyes from here." Em was trying to be diplomatic to the Prince.

"If the bad blood is further back, we'd actually need details, Prince. Not every person of our Kingdom who may have come, would have had the King of pasts blessing. I do know our King William would rather foster new ties with your people." Emma knew in saying it she wasn't wrong. If the fae were here first. He'd want to work something out with them regarding what they had learned.

Hearing feet coming, "I believe that's our King William now, Prince Arthur."
