Leene pulled her hand back from Glenn's forehead, a tired smile on his face. The dress she wore was a simple peasant dress of blue, she had a few like this for riding and traveling. Her blonde hair was damp from the bath, brushed back down her back. Despite her simple garb, her carriage and bearing made her status known better than the most royal rainment. His body was doing well...almost restored. His heart however...that she was unsure of.
As Amelia entered, she smiled in greeting, "Worry not, My Lady Sorceress." "Sir Glenn will live, my magics have mended his wounds, for the most part." "The sleep he is in is magic, it allows his body to heal faster." "He will be whole in another quarter hour."
She stood, stepping over the blood on the floor. "I am afriad the maid has not had time yet to clean the blood away, I sent her to see to any injured on the walls." "I hope she returns soon...or someone does, it will start to smell soon." Leene sat on one of the chairs, gesturing for Amelia to follow suit. "Please, sit down." "I asked the maid to bring you here, but it is not as Queen that I want to talk to you." "Queen Leene is not the one before you, just Leene...a woman who is concerned for a friend she has known since she was a little girl." She glanced back at Glenn's slumbering form, and sighed. "I grew up with Glenn, though it's not common knowledge...he is the oldest friend I have." "I want to talk to you, as two women who worry for the fate of people they love."
Leene absently curled a lock of wet gold hair around her index finger as she spoke, "As long as I have known Glenn, I have never seen or sensed such despair or pain in him." "Even after his mother's illness, when his father fell those long years ago...there was not such agony or sense of loss in him." "His rage, his death-wish...they terrify me." "All the more, because I cannot imagine what could drive him to such depths." "I know that you know what has happened to bring about this sad state of affairs...I know that it involves the Lady Ella, to whom I feel great respect and no small amount of gratitude." "I do not ask you to violate any oaths you have sworn, or sonfidences you have pledged to keep." "Only that you tell me what you can, so that I can help this brave man who is so dear to me." "Many years has he protected me, and supported me." "I suspect that in this business...if I know what has passed...I may be able to do the same for him."
