The Last Kingdom

Randall

When the explosion had erupted in the middle of the camp Randall had been talking with some of the generals a few yards away. It had knocked him down and pushed all the air from his lungs. Getting to his feet slowly he had ordered some men to gather up water and to try and fight the fire.

Looking about groggily he tried to clear his head of the smell and sounds. Just then a sentry came running up with tidings about a wizard running into the woods. Nodding his thanks he ran to Kelwyn..

Once there he gave his report and at his King's barked orders he had the burning crews set out, the others brought into ranks, and the few who had survived the tent's explosion cared for. All the while he tried to figure out why the enemy had gone after the wounded...

OOC: Are yall Going to gather a round My Dead body or are yall Just gonna Burn me and leve

ooc: I wouldnt know, Im just waiting for them to need me enough to know Im missing. *L*

ah well, Just waitin otherwise.

Ooc: All right, to "satisfy" a certain character here before we leave we will hover around the pile of dead bodies and say a silent prayer. Then, if you have anything important to say to us all you'd better make it quick. And as a rule, try not to make everyone at once do something, because it usually ends up horrible just like this.

Garret looked aroud at the chaos of the scene. People running everywhere, accusations flying, fingers being pointed. It couldn't have happened better if he'd of planned it himself. Now the leaders will be aware that even if they retreat there is a danger. It's now or never.
He walked his way down to the creek, finding a deep hole. Taking off his clothes he began to swim. The water enveloped him, bringing his senses to life. It was refreshing, just refreshing.
With a single look around, he saw that he was alone. In an instant he dove to the bottom. Suspended in the water Garret's eyes closed as he began to channel his thoughts.

The Drowl cocked his head to the side, looking up at the cave.
"What have you got for us?"
"I've made it possible, they are about to travel on the path you told me. They are all a bit on edge as well."
"The girl?"
"She's fine. As are the rest of the group in the phrophecy. We should be moving out within the day."
"Good, perfect. Do you need anything?"
"Absolutely not. I have more than enough. I do have something for you though. It's a necklace, I believe it's an Angel regeneration necklace."
Through a small portal in the wall came a black neacklace. The Drowl looked at it with some interest.
"You've done excellent. Kill as many as you can, but save the girl for me."
"As you wish."

Garret came to the surface, taking in a deep breath. He walked back onto the shore, replacing his clothes. Making his way back to the small army his mind was already filling with opportunity. So many deaths, so little time.

Vixen

Vixen finally finds her horse and her saddle bag with a spare set of clothes. She grumbles a little as she puts on the new boots. She'd loved her old boots... she'd had them for ages... she sighs as she tugs these newer ones onto her feet over the leather pants.

She puts on a shirt now too and follows it up with a vest. She only has a small amount of knives left. She hopes there is a smithy somewhere soon so she can replenish her supply. She frowns. Where had she changed?

She stalks back to the point she last remembers. The tent now empty. She musingly paces back following her tracks until she comes to where her clothing lies. She smiles. Her favorite knives are there. Excellent. She pulls on her knife belt and picks up the pants... the shirt she discards... her boots... gone? Strange. Someone must have appropriated them.

She notices everyone gathering around the corpses in the middle of the field. All available fire wood had been stacked against the bodies and they awaited the King to say the final words before lighting the pyre.

She joined the others watching with interest.

Sanity

" Thank you for letting me help you on yall jerny. Avallyn stared at the spirit floating before everyone and shook her head. "My mind is to confused now for that responsibilty give it to Vixen, she will be more apt to handle it" looking at Kelwyn her eyes questioning asking him if he knew what the hell was going on.

Karrack

In the ensuing confusion of the fireball, and Sanity's last message to the group even Vixen forgot about Karrack. During the entire time he was now already a good distance away and traveling hard...

It had started soon after they had erected the tents on the hill and he had put Vixen and Aeneva to bed. He had sat down and closed his eyes in an attempt to recollect the whole day. It was then his gods had appeared to him.

They had erupted into the very air in front of only his eyes and stood there in all their glory. Vernt- God of War and Bloodshed, Telissa-Vernt's wife and Goddess of Harvest, Calgro-God of the Storms, and many more. He had fallen to his knees in reverence at the sight.

He had lain there for only seconds when Vernt spoke to him, HIM! a mere lowly mortal. Karrack, come child, you must take the one known as Aeneva away, NOW. You must return to your people with her so they will believe for danger even now stalks you all, GO! and with that they all left.

Stumbling to his feet, he had immediately given thanks to them for visiting him, and then he hurried into the tent, there he had picked up the slight form of Aeneva and cradling her in his arms he had stepped from the tent after leaving a small kiss on the forehead of the sleeping Vixen.

Even as Vixen began to stir slightly he had began a long loping run down the hill into the woods aiming for the woods then the moutains more than 200 leagues away. As he had passed into the woods the explosion erupted and lit the night. All the while he heard his gods words ringing in his ears as he ran as the tears flowed freely down his face at leavining his friends, and.... love.

Randall

After listening to the spirit's last will so to speak, Randall headed towards the camp in order to get the rest of the troops rounded up. As he did so he saw someone skulking near the edge of camp.

Drawing his sword, he stepped cautiously toward the figure, when he reached it he saw that it was the missing Morsyth. And he looked to be in pretty sorry shape. Checking him he saw that he was still breathing, it was then Morsyth opened his eyes...

Vixen & King Kelwyn

Vixen blinked in surprise at having the responsibilty thrown her way.

Kelwyn shrugged his shoulders, clearly as in the dark about the current happenings as Avallyn. Quietly he took Avallyn's hand however as they watched the eerie sight of the spirit hovering before them.

Vixen looked down at the dead body of Sanity, she could see all the items he was bequesting to the others... but the pendant of which he spoke was obviously missing.

She frowned, but said nothing for the moment.

"Spirit thingy... can you describe this pendant to me?" She asked, knowing even as she asked, she was as much agreeing to take on the responsibility for finding it and restoring the angel.

Kelwyn turned to whisper to Avallyn.

"There is one obviously missing from our group... have you perchance seen where the giant Karrack is?" He asked her.

"It's worse than you think King," Garret emerged from the shadow's. He looked around, his eyes wild from the corpses bodies.
"The ancient woman is missing too. I suspect that the Wizard used the explosion as a diversion to kidnap both of them."
He quickly moved across the rest of the group, letting them have it sink in. He stopped excatly at Randall and the King.
"While I was at their base camp the dark elves talked of a group of destined people, able to stop the land from this perilous invasion. Since then they have been searching the land for these people. I believe tonight they have found two of the prophet's and are taking them back to the cave I spoke of."
He could use this to his advantage.
"If we intend to rescue them, we need to leave right away."

King Kelwyn

Kelwyn releases Avallyn's hand and approaches Garret. He accepts this young man's word, trusting him implicitly.

"Indeed young Garret, it is indeed our good fortune that you come to us with the knowledge you do. Commence with the burning, we ride out immediately..." He says patting the boy on the shoulder.

Vixen looks at the boy oddly and recalls something. Oh yes, she had seen him earlier. When had he become second to the King she wondered. Her eyes narrowed as she looked him over. Something... odd... she couldn't place it. Her nose twitched and she looked him over more carefully this time.

Her thoughts were interrupted yet again by the arrival of Lord Randall with a dishevelled looking Morsyth in tow.

She looked over at the man intrigued.

"What happened to you?" The King asked everyone's question easily.

Avallyn looked at Garret her eyes narrowing as she felt something from this. He smelled, not a physical smell but something else. Like a feeling or something. Shaking her head she laughed softly to herself at her foolish thought. He was on their side not the enemies. She was drawn back to the present when Lord Randall appreared carrying a very injured Morsyth.

Karrack

He ran, on and on and on. His breath rasping in his lungs, his muscles protesting at the strain, and yet he kept running.

For in his mind he kept hearing the words "take the one known as Aeneva away, NOW." sounding in his ears.

And he did, ignoring pain, ignoring fatigue, and ignoring food he kept running....

Aeneva

Aeneva stirred awake, someone was carrying her and moving with a frightening sense of urgency. She blinked several times as her eyes came into focus and gasped when she saw the fierce visage of the giant man, the one the fox seemed to know. Her initial panic quickly died as her eyes picked out a black shroud of grief reflected in the man’s eyes. Fine lines of fatigue created a dark shadow around his eyes.

Aeneva reached up and placed her small white hand gently on the huge muscled arm that carried her. The giant slowed and peered down at her before carefully placing her on the floor. She stood unsteadily and leaned on his arm as she looked around the unfamiliar surroundings. She had expected to see the fox nearby.

Aeneva frowned and looked up, her eyes full of questions, “Where is the fox? Where is everyone? Where are we?”

Karrack

He had been moving through the woods now for the last several hours when the young woman in his arms stirred awake. Even though she was now awake he kept running like the demons of hell were chasing them.

Then she placed her small white hand on his arm and all of a sudden it was like a spell was broken. He slowed then finally set her down and looked at her even though tears were once again threating to overcome him again.

When she asked him some questions, Karrack's heart felt like it wanted to stop beating because they were about Vixen, his Vixen.. Just then his legs gave way.

Falling to his knees he gasped for air, then when he could he answered her. "The fox, Vixen, is now many leagues behind us with the others back at the enemy's camp, safe (a lie if there ever was one). We are right now about a hundred leagues from the Hammersmith Mts., where my clan lives. We are here because my gods required it of me in order to protect you from the drowl." as he finished he sat down and opening his bag he pulled some jerky and hard cheese and bread and breaking it, offered it to her.

Vixen

As the spirit spoke of Karrack. Vixen's mind cleared.

"Karrack..." Her eyes widen as she realises that she hasn't seen him for sometime. She hadn't seen him since she awoke. He wasn't by her side... and he hadn't left any word.

"Karrack!" She shouted looking around desperately. She sniffed the air. Her senses desperate to catch some sense of him. Nothing. Her breath coming in increasingly agitated gasps.

"Who saw him last?" She growled, looking each person around her hard in the eye. Everyone seemed as unknowing as herself and this did not sit well with her.

"I... I must track him... what if he is in trouble? And... the girl... where is the white one?" Again, blank looks.

"Damn it to Hades!" Vixen growled angrily.

Sanity

" Vixen Pleas Colm Down You Can Find Karrak In Aminet but pleas get my neclec and put it on so i can go home."

Aeneva

Aeneva stared in shock at the giant man. They had traveled so far yet in such a short time, it was incredible. Her mind could barely comprehend it. Her eyes soften as she knelt on the dirt next to him and reached out gingerly to lay her fingertips on his forehead.

Pale violet eyes darkened to an indigo color as she called forth her gift to banish the fatigue and exhaustion within the giant. The life force that flowed through the land was channeled through her and into him, replenishing him, healing him, filling him and making him anew.

Aeneva rocked back onto her heels and wrapped her arms around her legs. She gasped as she realized she was no longer naked but clothed in simple woolen pants and a rather large long sleeved cotton tunic that reached to her knees. A short length of rope was tied around her slender waist as a belt while soft leather boots encased her feet. She had no idea where the clothes came from but she was thankful.

She stared intensely at the giant for a long moment before speaking, “I do not understand. Please tell me, what am I as to being so important to be saved? I am an outcast, born under the full moon and thus bear her coloring. I am hated wherever I go. Tell me, who do you think I am?”

Karrack

Looking at her earnest face and understanding her confusion and worry Karrack closed his eyes for a moment in thought while chewing on some cheese. Opening his eyes again he looked at her then began to speak.

"It is said, among the legends and tales of us, the elder races, of which the giants are a part, along with the elves, nymphs and dwarves. Long before humans came into the being by the hand of Belial, the giant races were one. We were many and we traveled the length and breadth of this world at will. Then the elves came, and many of us decided to help our fellows. This help soon led to the establishment of the First Elven Empire, and the subjugation of all other races, excepting us. When the dwarves came into being some centuries later, they and the elves went to war almost immediately. And this time my people argued over the justice of this act, for the founding of the original empire had been done in an attempt to protect the elves from harm, but now we were fighting a race who had never threatened the elves before....

So my people went to war then, against each other. Some sided with the dwarves, others the elves, some with the subjugated peoples of the elven empire, and some fought everyone. The Cyclopes went with the dwarves for they were fond of fire and forge. The Titans stayed with the elves for they felt the bonds of friendship should hold all. The Jurtan, of which I am a member, decided that the elves had no right to their empire any more and fought to free the people enslaved by the elves. And the Frost Giants fought everyone and everything.

And it was then our gods came down and spoke to the clans, for we had not seen them in many millenia. Vernt, Calgro, Telissa, Molorn and many others appeared and scolded us for our sins and hubris. Then as punishment they laid a curse upon our people that led to our near demise. They laid a curse of blood feud on all the clans, so that if members of another clan see a person from a different clan, they will try to kill them right then and there. And it has been that way for many, many centuries.

But, before our gods left us alone, they also held out a ray of hope for all of us. One day a child would be born, who would bring the clans back together in through the goodness of her heart and she would forgive us our sins. And our gods left us a small set of hints to find her with. It is said she will have been born under a full moon, so that her skin would resemble the moon at night. That her eyes would be violet, and she would be found when the world was in the gravest danger...

And you are all those things, and my gods have spoken to me, that I need to take you back to my home as fast as possible to start the reconcilliation among the clans so that we can fight on the side of light as a whole tribe, and not single clans." as he finished speaking he took a swig of water from his bottle, gave some to her, and standing up, swept her back into his arms. Adjusting his grip on her he began to jog farther into the moutains, all the while talking to her as he ran..

Avallyn looked around a frown forming on her lips. "We should find him as quickly as possible. As good a fighter and warrior Karrack is is is dangerous out there" she looked at Vixen "Vixen can you use any of your senses or anything like that to track him?"

Randall

While Kelwyn, Vixen, Avallyn, and Sanity's ghost argued over what should be done right then and there, Randall had been directing his scouts out into the fields in search of Karrack, the necklace and Lothander.

Returning to the group, he knelt by the now concious Morsyth and spoke "Mage, do you know where the Ranger Lothander is? Do you have any idea? He is missing and must be found along with all the others." when Morsyth just looked at him blankly, Randall cursed and getting up walked up behind Vixen.

"Your friend is missing and if you want to find him we must do so now. But we must also find Lothander the Ranger, for he too is missing. I do not like this, and I must urge we split the army up and find them before the foe does. The outposts should hold the enemy off long enough for us to find the missing Companions and return to defeats the Dark Elves." he said to her and the rest of the group.
