The Lord and the Maid (closed to Othermoose)

Aron pulled Adnil to his chest and held her as she cried. "Don't cry, we'll be alright. We just need to get out of here, and go somewhere safe." Aron paused, gently stroking Adnil's hair as he thought. After a moment he spoke again. "Maybe we could return to the monastery where you grew up. We could ask the monks why they didn't want you near nobility. Maybe they can tell you more about your past. Do you think that would work?" Aron asked as he continued to stroke Adnil's hair.

Adnil stopped crying and thought about what Aron had suggested. The idea was a good one.

“That is a great idea. It will take some time to make the journey, but I think we will learn a lot from the monks." Adnil said as she wiped the tears from her eyes.

There was a groan from Markus as his eyes opened “UGHH … I feel like warmed over yak piss.” He said then he saw Adnil and nodded “Sorry …” he grumbled. Aron slide over next to him.

“Scarlet Bane … but we got to you in time. Keeping your blood flowing is the best treatment. Let’s keep moving.” Aron suggested.

Adnil helped Markus to stand and supported him while he walked. Aron held the torch and lead the way, looking back to check on them every so often.

“I feel like a cripple!” Markus complained.

“Stop complaining you lucky bastard … Adnil has her arms wrapped around you” Aron pointed.

“Very True! Thanks you my lady.” Markus said thanking Adnil.

The group headed down the secret passageway. It appeared to have been used recently which puzzled Aron a bit. It was not too dusty and the cobwebs were at a minimum. The tunnel went downward for a small way and then flattened out. It seemed as the tunnel was leaving the castle grounds, moving outside the wall that surround the complex. Markus was now walking on his own. “I thinking I’m getting the hang of this” He whispered to Adnil. “My body knows what to do and how to do it, so I will not fall over … it was me thinking about my bodies’ movements that was causing me all the problems. I just stop thinking and now I’m moving pretty good” He told Adnil.

Aron whispered back to Adnil “Markus thinking … always was his biggest problem.”

The passageway headed deeper for a short way. Until it flatten out again. Aron called for a stop as there was a larger cavern ahead. The ceiling of the cavern rose to over 15 ft high, making it much roomier chamber then the narrow passageway, everyone is standing in. There was a pool, some 12 feet wide that lined the back wall of the cavern. The water was fed by an underground spring and was fresh and cold.

Some 10 goblins are sleeping along the walls, another 10 goblins are awake, some lounging around, some eating meat off some bones that looked human. There was a small fire in the middle of the cavern. Aron and the group in the tunnel had not been spotted and there were no guards around. Three of the awake goblins were near a small ballista that was near the water pool.

Lastly, in the back of the cave were 3 exit tunnels.
