Shivers and shakes her head..

in mid winter here it gets down to anywhere from -25c to -35c, then you add the windchill and it can be colder than -40c



my friends i live with say the house is at least 100 years old.

I've only been in the south for a bit, and it's kind of surprised me the way I've missed winter given how angry a cold blast of air in the face makes me. Plus, I think my sensibilities are just more "northern" anyway. I don't quite fit in down here, with my Darwin fish on my car and my atheist liberal socialist feminist ways.

Also, humidity kind of sucks in the summer.

I know what it is to live in a place that is the opposite of what you are. I'm sorry, Good Sir.

my friend that owns the house has picked up on something back when they first bought the house. ive only been living here about 2 months and havent yet. but i live in the newer part of the house added about 20 years ago.

I'm, I think, a far bit further North than you but we've had a 'mild' winter this year. We only hit -40 a couple of times, plus wind of course but on the thermometer it wasn't so bad.

Ah, it's quite alright. It's not all bad, it just puts me a little out of sync with a lot of the people around here. But when you do find someone like-minded, it also kind of makes you feel like refugees or something. Behind enemy lines!

I was that way for a couple years with my atheism, but even that it was more about my beliefs than who I am. Hiding that part of yourself, I can't even imagine.

But, thankfully, we are moving gradually but surely past that. And someday, when we're the old and grey ones, we'll be able to look back on this time and be proud that we were there when it happened.
